Speakers with same level as wharf have been tested already side by side with competitors, and the verdict already given - wharfedale topped them all unless you want to be better than those who made tech evaluation and retest all of those speakers again (sound like reinventing the wheels he he he). Wharfedale speakers are the most neutral, if not transparent. And wharfedale will show only how good your amplifiers are.
Yamaha and wharfedale are good match. This has been declared by other respected reviewers. You know why? Its not because Yamaha sounded bright. Its not because wharfedale tweeter are dull.
Its because wharfedale are neutral speakers and Yamaha amp produces accurate sounds.
Marantz amp roll of the high frequency (making it sound dull with wharf), Denon's characterisitc is hard sound, onkyo is like marantz producing somehow sweet sound.
Mission or BW speakers somehow has given extra emphasis on the tweeter so pairing it with yamaha that produces accurate sound will tend to overdo it in the highs.
Well, of course, kaya nga may bass & treble control ang mga amp natin e para i-taylor yan sa taste natin. Borrowing the words from eastwoodhifi.com, "...with controls provided on a marantz amp, i can make it to sound like a Yamaha...".
At least, you know your perimeter, if you have a wharf speaker, you should know what amp to get (dapat accurate amp). If you have a marantz amp, then you should know what speakers to get (medyo giving extra emphasis on highs).
Enjoy!
