Title: Pinoy Idol
Post by: dorian_gray on Mar 31, 2006 at 01:12 PM
I read in another thread that Ryan Cayabyab is the first judge. I think he is the best musician in the country right now so he is the perfect pick.

Whoops. Didn't see this here.

Close that other thread.

It officially starts June 2006.

Anyone planning to try to audition?

What do you guys think should be the themes?

Who do you think should host/judge?

Yes, Ryan Cayabyab will be one of the judges (excellent choice, btw). There will be two other judges and not one but TWO hosts.

Ryan Agoncillo has been tapped to be one of the hosts.

Can he do it? I  saw him do the morning show and i wasn't impressed. Hopefully the producers made the right choice. i was kinda batting for KC Montero.  :(

Sino kaya yung 2nd host?

I hear that the other two judges will be Lea Salonga and Martin Nievera. I'm not 100% sure though.

Yikes!! He buckles and he's bulol! KC Montero would be perfect!

Lea Salonga? Nahhh..Mataas masyado standards niya and she doesn't like R&B style of singing. Let's face it. A lot of singers are veering to that vocal styling..

And we need a judge that could match Simon Cowell tongue-with-tongue...Acidic yet witty, realistic and oftentimes, fair..So please lang, NO to Fritz Ynfante and Boy Abunda!! They are trying hard critics. I would prefer SYLVIA LA TORRE pa. And why not her? She would be, as Paula Abdul usually says, "a breath of fresh air!"

Lea Salonga would be a welcome addition to the supposedly judges.  Para naman matigil na ang kaka-sigaw e este belt-out ng mga singers natin! If not, consultant na lang siguro.  I like the fact that, despite how good her voice is, she still managed to ask for vocal coaching to improve.  Now, if only our other artists would do so and not remain contented with how their voice sounds esp RV...

That is also what I noticed with a lot of our singing contests. Puro sila mga power balladeers. Puro mga Martin/Regine wannabes. Unlike sa American Idol, meron sila mga rockers, R&B, crooners, etc. We often equate good singing with over-singing.

For instance, I (well, our maid really) was watching Little Big Star (the one hosted by Sarah "I wanna punch her face because of her over-cheerfulness" Geronimo). They had a boy in it (half-African-American, half-Filipino) who actually sang R&B and did it quite well. He lost of course to the little Regine Velasquez wannabe who went for the big notes and frankly oversang the song.

and THAT BOY actually sung a Mariah Carey song! i don't know why he won!

yeah, sarah's hosting is irritating me, too! not only because of her cheerfulness but because of her "jologs na jolgs" type of hosting!  sa kabila naman, even RV's talking voice is into the highest mode of screeching!

Francis M and Pilita as judges in Philippine Idol?  Wala na bang ibang pwede?  I would be more happy kung si Tito Pepe pa ang kinuha nila as one of the Judges kung kukuha na rin lang sila ng oldies.  As for Francis M what's his credentials to judge and siya nga mismo di makakanta ng ok eh.

Like Paula Abdul? ;D (Well to her credit, may Grammy naman yata siya.  ;D )

FrancisM produces rap albums and a takes care of unknown artists who need a good start in the biz. ;)

Pilita & Francis  --- a mix of the old and the young. Ryan takes care of the technical (?) side of singing. I think this is a good mix. Give it/them a chance. ;)

;D I have no problem with Pilita Corrales being a shoo-in for Lea Salonga. She has every right to be a judge:  legendary, classy and savvy great singer with long history of hosting a singing contest. Her vast experience as a performer and impeccable style (she delivers her lines with crisp and clarity mind you) could prove a real foil to all these Regine and Martin wannabes.  Honestly,  she could be a real b**ch without annoyance and could be the female counterpart of Simon Cowell. I am dying to hear her critiques!

Oggs, Pilita's biggest discovery is actually Jaya. She also acted as the manager until things went sour and then parted ways as we all know it. So she really knows talent when she sees one. I'm not sure though about Gary V.

BTW, Jaya's contemporary is Lani Misalucha as both debuted via the Metro Pop Songfest in 1995. I saw their performance and thought they'd become superstars someday.  How prophetic hehe..

And I don't mind if the judges in this contest opt for belters but I hope they get those in the mold of Lani M. or Jaya coz these singers have patented musical styles.

I don't mind standard belters and balladeers but it seems to me this is the ONLY type contestants that appear or are favored on local singing talent shows. All Regine and/or Martin wannabes. Pataasan lang ng boses at pa-OA lang ang kanta, panalo na.

If I'm not mistaken, Gary V's first break after his stint with Kundirana is with Pilita Corrales' television show... Gary V even lived with Corrales when the former's house burned down...

it's the cover story for the latest issue of newsbreak...

Finally, Philippine Idol
The show that democratized television viewing is now in the country
(http://newsbreak.com.ph/newsbreak/story.asp?id=401)

Jasmin Trias won’t do anymore. Hers is a blue passport, after all. The Philippines is finally having its very own Idol.

Emotions ran high at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on June 4. Despite earlier audition schedules, about 2,000 Philippine Idol winner wannabes showed up that day. Among them was Justice Regontola from Quezon City. He failed to impress the judges, thus ending his dream to become the first Philippine Idol winner. But he will go into the record book as entrant 0001, the first official Philippine Idol wannabe, for being at the PICC’s Gate 2 at 12:30 p.m. that day.

Idol is a very expensive talent search program that originated in the UK in 2000 as Pop Idol. Filipino viewers are more familiar with the US franchise, American Idol, shown on cable channels and on ABC-5. Filipinos have been glued to the show so that, according to Google Trends, American Idol is googled most often in the Philippines, suggesting that we’re more curious about the show than the Americans.

The Idol format revolutionized TV viewing by turning viewers from couch potatoes to active stakeholders who can make or break a contestant, or the entire show for that matter.

Judges weed out the wannabes from thousands until there are only 12 of them. And that’s when the viewers start to take control in choosing the winners by calling in their votes or sending them through text messages. The format became a worldwide hit. For paying a fee of over P100 million, ABC-5 will be running the 35th Idol franchise starting this July.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eSIYfeVrhc ---  okay ang promo.

But this group came out with a press release the other day about how little talent they found in Davao, they had nothing good to say for Davao. Ooops, wow mali. Davao is ABS-CBN country. Guess with that statement, the people there will surely watch Channel 2's Dream Academy instead of this one. Then again Dyogi wasn't also fond of Davao when he held PBB Auditions there a couple of months ago, though it wasn't in the press statements.

It still will be problematic. In the UK, Pop Idol 2 ran simultaneously with Fame Academy 2, resulting in low ratings for both, and ultimately ENDING both franchises.

Although I felt both shows had far less interesting (and less attractive) contestants for their second seasons, and I personally think that's what really caused their downfalls.  ;D

that's sad... because if PI goes daily... eh, di "copycat" show na siya.

personally, i prefer the OT/fame/SA style of reality show. there's more opportunities to really feel connected with the contestants kasi, because it's a daily show. unfortunately, the idol franchise edges them out naman when it comes to glitz and pomp.

GRABE! i didn't realize you gusy were still following ALL the idol franchises. LOL... that's true tho... all that singing can lead to "idol" burnout. LOL.

It's on in about 2 hours.

Is it just me (and blitz above), or did ABC 5 drop the ball in promoting this? For such a major investment on a hugely successful franchise, it doesn't seem to have even half the buzz that Pinoy Big Brother did. If I didn't happen to catch a station plug while channel surfing just now, I would've completely forgotten about tonight's premiere.  ???

Not bad, IMO.

The judges aren't as fun and dynamic as Simon, Paula and Randy but I think they need a few more episodes so they can establish their personas.

A couple of interesting singers. I see that the U.S. is not the only country capable of having circus freaks audition. LOL.
Title: Re: Philippine Idol
Post by: Mr. Hankey on Jul 30, 2006 at 10:47 PM
The show's just ah-ight for me.  ::) What makes the Idol franchise different from all the other talent shows out there is not the contestants, it’s the judges – whether it be their snarky comments or their witty repartee. They have none. Even when the person deserves to be slapped for even auditioning in the first place, they get the “try again next year” line. Ryan C. isn’t menacing enough. Pilita is scary... looking. And Francis M.? He lets more people through than even Paula, with no logical justification whatsoever.

Also, unlike in most other countries, where Idol was a new reality show/talent search concept, there are way too many of these shows in the Philippines, some of which are in their Nth season. A lot of the undiscovered talent in our country seems to have been drained by those shows already, since quite honestly, I felt only one contestant was potentially world-class – the first girl they let through (and the first Idol contestant I’ve heard sing “Route 66” since Scat Girl three years ago). The other passables were the “Anak” guy and the two final girls of the night. But I didn’t feel the X-Factor in those three. The hula-guy was also surprisingly good, but as Simon would’ve said: He doesn’t LOOK like a (Philippine) Idol. Maybe he can “pull an Elliott” and get a major makeover.

Will tune in next week, of course. Hopefully there will be better judge chemistry... and honesty.

LOL... loudest i laughed in the entire show. and mr. c's right... her voice seemed good.

anime girl was also quite revelation... if she get's through, she's the probably the one who can pull off a "yamin" transformation.

i thought "anak" guy had a fair voice... but seriously, he's banking more on his looks than his talent.  ;D

didn't "route66" gal strike you as a bit too "kuh ledesma"-ish... auditionee pa lang, diva na. either that or she was channelling paris bennet.  ;D

Actually, my biggest laugh came seconds after, when Ryan A. finally got her mom on the phone, asked the contestant to read the yellow paper, then she starts and almost immediately cuts it off, saying "Sayang load!"

Ang Pinoy nga naman!  ;D

Oh, the judges also need a better acceptance line. There was no equivalent to American Idol's "You're going to Hollywood!" or Pop Idol's "You're going to London!"

Ryan C. is definitely the Simon, but he's merely intimidating but not witty. It really makes a huge difference.

Although I'd say Pilita is the Randy Jackson (self-proclaimed "discoverer of superstars" with occassional good points for the contestants) while Francis M. is the Paula-Abdul-in-the-first-two-seasons (absolutely useless and without any significant comments, just says yes to everyone as the lone "pity vote").

Ryan Agoncillo? He could be Ryan Seacrest... or Ant... or Dec... they're all interchangeable.

Yup. They have so much in common: they're both former pop stars of the 1980s who could actually dance a lot better than they could sing. Plus they both swoon and drool over the good looking contestants. They're practically twins.

And don't tell me Francis M. is different because he can rap. Paula rapped in Coldhearted, as well.  ;D

tsaka I would suggest that we have a P.A. hand them the golden ticket. It is very awkward that the judges are the ones doing that, it takes away some of the glamour from the judges, they are just there to judge, you don't let them get their own water, you don't let them hand out the tickets.

It's very telling that the only two contestants I thought had actual potential to be worthy of the title "Philippine Idol" were the transexual (scary!), and someone who wasn't even good enough to make it past the Top 50 on Australian Idol.

The number of weird applicants also shocks me, since unlike on American Idol, where more than half are clearly doing it intentionally for their 15 minutes of infamy, I think a vast majority of the scary ones here are actually serious. The preview of the Davao auditions looked promising, though.

I hope it's like the other Idol programs, where you just don't see many of the talented ones until the Top 24 has been selected.

Well to me he was a transvestite. He was never asked if he had a sex change or whatever anyway, but obviously had some load of female hormones. While the rest appeared unperturbed, Pilita, though appearing impressed, obviously wasn't sure whether to give a go-signal.

But thank God, the contestant really sounded very good, natural and cool during the audition process. Was Francis M. making a statement when he said he didn't give a horse's crap about the contestant's sexual orientation?

At any rate, things are going to get very interesting to me if that contestant made it to the Top 12.   ;D

his/her tranny name was hilarious! GO "YOBAB"! ha ha ha ha!... that's priceless.

no one really stood out for me here... is our talent pool thinning out? (or as hankey mentioned, are they saving the good ones for the final few episodes of the audition process?)

did francis mention "sexual orientation"?... i seem to remember him saying not caring about "gender"... sorry, bad memory. LOL. (yobab was certainly "different" tho ... and TOTALLY pulled it off.)

and what's with all the *nsync songs??  :P ... i need to laud stephanie ("miss oz idol") for a fantastic song choice... anastacia ROCKS! (learn from her auditionees. offbeat choices work. LOL... ) ;D

I thought the Cebu audition episode was better. The judges' personalities were a bit more developed and there were a couple of really interesting contestants.

I wonder if the tranny will get a YES from Simon. He was quite good even if his voice was that of a woman's.

Actually Francis M said "I don't care about your 'gender'". Or something to that effect. But he said "gender".

My mother actually thought "yobab" is a she. ;D

And talking about Francis M., isn't he overacting a little bit trying to be more suplado. Sa Eat Bulaga, di ba batuk-batukan lang siya dun nina Vic at Joey? ;D

Medyo napahiya din si Francis when the doctor sang and he commented: "Walang sabit" complete with his head nodding, then Ryan C. commented that there's a problem with the doc's pitch.

I saw somebody in the Davao Auditions episode, someone whom I've known since she was a very young child. Her audition was not shown but she was always in the teasers, so she did pass (saw her waving her gold pass and smiling sa teasers). If she makes it, please vote for her. Her name is Eartha Gladys or EG.  ;D I have not heard her sing since she was 5 or 6  years old many, many, MANY! years ago.  ;D But I know she can sing, she comes from a family of singers. Her sisters - I grew up with and we trained music together... when Eartha was still a very young kid playing in our school grounds.

Vote for Eartha! (If she made it top 24). ;)  If she didn't make it.... too bad. :-\

;D I just noticed that the pacing of this show is sooooooooooooooooo slow..When are we going to see live the Top 24? This should have been a twice-a-week show. If the producers want to keep up with the pace being set by Pinoy Dream Academy, they should reconsider and move fast!

Aren't they already airing some stuff nightly?

Random thoughts:

1. I cannot stand the Juilliard guy. He's like that contestant last year on AI who was also very full of himself who the judges cut before the Top 24, and that guy actually had talent.

2. Mohammad Faizal's daughter can sing. I don't know how or why his son keeps on making it.

3. Those three girls near the end of the show were amazing for a group with so little practice. Those three last guys they featured doing Part Time Lover (including the Dolphy grandson) were just so bad it was hilarious.

4. I really need to hear some nasty judges' comments soon, or even aghast or bewildered looks. They were pretty robotic last night.

5. Once Yobabs makes it to the Top 12, I will vote him/her every week regardless of how she/he performs, just so I can see the international reaction to a transsexual winning in one of the Idol franchises.  ;D

The Top 12 guys all look the same to me. The only contestants I remember and actually like (Ira, the other half of the Cruz siblings, for example) are the girls. I think the first Philippine Idol will be a girl. The guys would have to totally go Bo Bice on me for me to remember them.

Damn. I completely forgot that last night was the Guys' first live performances. Doesn't matter. I got my eye out on the ladies. Our first Philippine Idol will be female because the girls are far more memorable.
Title: Re: Philippine Idol
Post by: Mr. Hankey on Sep 03, 2006 at 07:53 PM
Not an impressive group of male contestants. I agree with KW, the only top 24 contestants who left a lasting impression on me were during auditions were the females - Mohammad Faizal's daughter and the Oz Idol qualifier. And last night's performance show didn't change that.

But I will say that the contestants had very good stage presence. Of particular note was the guy whose mike died near the start of his performance: he kept on performing without missing a beat. And I was impressed with the show's director - instead telling the audience the guy would get to sing again, they immediately restarted playing his song the second he ended the first run - and he still didn't miss a beat.

Random thoughts:

1. The judges last night proved that they weren't in the same league as Randy, Paula and Simon. Some of the contestants Ryan praised I could completely see even Paula mocking for lack of talent.

2. They have a REALLY LOUSY sound system. It could've helped A LOT if they had a bit of reverb. Some contestants sounded like they were lecturing with absolutely no echo on the mike.

3. The elimination process is VERY BORING. From the Top 12 Men, the Top 4 will move on after tonight, then the remaining 8 will perform again for the final 2 male slots. Where's the drama in that? It works so much better when those who've just been kicked out are forced to sing their losing song one last time immediately after all their dreams and aspirations have just been shattered.  ;D Right now, all losers still get another chance, so... it's a boring results show. No REAL eliminations yet.

As for the judges, they were tooooo soft last night although Mr. C gave tried to sound real in his comments.

As for Ryan Agoncillo, more practice. He's pretty much dependent on the distracting cue cardsand the idiot board.

Blitz,

I couldn't agree more. This is the first time I didn't enjoy the program! It shows the primitive mind set of the majority of voters locally.Sabi nga nun sister ko, siguro mayayaman kaya nakapagtext vote ng narami. For me, the only CREDIBLE judge is MR. C.  ;D Quite frankly, only one guy's voice appeared world class to me. It's RAMIRR's. He's got a high range and fine musicality you won't get ashamed to show off. The rest are bordering on either so-so or yeah-its-ok. Yeah, the guy isn't a looker and appeared weirdo and that he sang a very masa song you often heard in karaoke joints. But who among the 11 other guys could nail such a pain-in-the-balls song with overflowing credibility? NADA!!

True, blame those who didn't vote (that includes me but we people in the house all use either Sun or Globe) but sana those who did should have used their best judgment. But again, it's a popularity contest the way I look at it.

Anyways, it's never too late. I will borrow my friend's Smart fone next time for him to get to the Top 12.

I saw the girls' performances tonight.

The best ones who deserve to be in the Top 4 (and the ones I voted for are):

01. Mau
02. Armarie
03. Pow
04. Ira

The rest range from "okay" to "meh". I'm surprised by the good feedback on Suey. Although she ended alright, the beginning and middle were off a lot.
Title: Re: Philippine Idol
Post by: blitzkrieg on Sep 10, 2006 at 11:19 AM
;D MAU and IRA delivered and so did POW.  They're my bet.

Ira's got fine song choices and and could have done better with Mr. Melody if not for her recent bout with laryngitis. She's classy and her beauty grows on you. I thought she was the prettiest last night.

Not exactly the right song for her but Mau nailed Sweet Love and showed her great range. I hope the voting public this time will HEED Mr. C's message. That standing ovation say's it all.

Pow's the most promising of them all. She should display more facets of that lovely voice.

Now the dissing part:

Honestly, I wasn't impressed with ARMARIE. There's something about that voice and style that annoys me.
SUEY's judges positive reaction is totally undeserved. She sang like she was struggling with constipation.

personally... talent-wise, only pau was truly deserving in the top 4 last night.  :-\ up until last saturday night, i thought she was just an "okay" singer. she surprised me the most.

most undeserving was... my apologies to her fans... jelli. she was so awful! nice to look at ... but that was a disastrous performance for her. she didn't deserve to get through based on her singing last weekend. heck, bad as ynah's song choice was... at least she delivered it well. (shame she isn't in the wild card ... i believe her unpopularity stems from her being an ex-kuya germs talent. poor gal. magaling pa naman.)

i think apple is bit... um, overrated. she can carry a tune, but there were definitely people there who sang better than she did. although, truth be told, i can live with her being in the top 12... she's eye candy. hopefully she'll prove me wrong with the next shows.

arms disappointed me... the talent was obviously there. but her performance was mediocre at best. on key... but pretty much flat the entire performance. :(

mau and ira should be in the top 12 after next week ... or i will have completely lost faith in the voting public.  :-[

Ryan Cayabyab is correct when he said on Saturday: Knowing the Filipinos, baka hindi iboto si Mau kaya tumayo siya and applaud Mau's performance.

Nagkatotoo nga.

I think the voting went like this:

1. POW
2. Jelli
3. Apple
4. Armarie

Sana nagbibigay ng comments ang mga judges ala Simon Cowell at sabhin sa iba na they don't deserve to be in the top four. But sabi nga ni Ryan Cayabyab, knowing the Filipinos hindi magsasalita ang mga judges ng ganun na makakasakit sa kapwa.

Last Saturday, I can't help but feel sorry for Jasmine TRias when Francis M is giving comments to the performances. You could see her doesn't understanding much of what was said.

To Jelli he said: "Malinis ang pagkaka-interpret." [after which Mr. C said maraming pitch na hindi maabot si Jelli] ;D

To Suey (who I think performed badly): "You killed it"

I'm actually surprised that the official website of Philippine Idol is actually more brutal than the judges. They actually called Miguel and Jan "the weakest" among the males, and three who didn't get in as "the strongest":

http://www.philippineidol.com/features/features0906_3.html

Whether you agree or disagree with that assessment, I feel it's poor webmastering on the part of ABC 5. The show's official site should stay unbiased, not declaring any favorites. Leave the assessment of who's the strongest or the weakest to the viewers, since the official site of a reality competition show shouldn't be trying to influence votes.

Yes, but the funny thing is Francis M seemed to be praising Suey when he said it.

Or was he being sarcastic? Now I'm not sure whether the comment leans toward the good or the bad.

Frankly, a lot of Filipinos are RACISTS and PREJUDICED. Hello, WAKE UP FILIPINOS!!! We are people of color too you know. I am quite sure if you saw Denzel Washington in person, you'd scream your heads off at baka hihimurin ninyo pa pati tumbong niya

Again, blame these makers of whitening products. They only perpetuate this kind of ignorance.

The guys practically said everything I wanted to say, i.e., how horrifyingly stupid things have become. I don't think the concept of FAIRNESS, OBJECTIVITY will ever work in a show like Philippine Idol. I just hope and pray that MAU, IRA, (I texted my votes for these girls ok?) Bro,

Mahirap ng maging specific baka may masagasaan.  ::) Basta i agree wit you 100%! ;)

I just hope they replace F.M. and Pilita in the next season. I know that the concept of the franchise is considering the whole package but the real score here in my point of view is that the LOOKS far outweighs TALENT :-[. Its clearly evident here (Again my point of view, not all) Being a music lover, I usually judge voice with my eyes closed to fully appreciate what is being assessed...then I decide. With all senses working its a different ballgame, bias and prejudice arises. The Maestro Mr. C is the only one doing this. And yes, I did text on both occasions! :D

They have all the same comments. "I like you, you're good, i hope you make it..." Sayang ang sweldo! Ryan Cayabyab, the only one doing his job, looked exhausted!

Francis' comments do not add value to the show, nonsense ang mga sinasabi nya last Saturday. I hope he improved his comments next time para hindi na lang lagi "maganda" "walang-sabit" "very good" ang madidinig natin. Sana nga si Jim Paredes na lang ang kinuha ng mga producers, I'm sure we'll hear intelligent and performance-based remarks from him just like what Mr C is doing. Kasuka rin yung flirting between Pilita and Ryan. Ok lang sana kung isang beses lang, walangjo ulit-ulit ba naman >:( >:( >:(

Is it just me or is there anybody else among PI fans who finds that Jeffrey fellow very corny.  I have watched his segments for the last few days during Heart Evangelista's PI (show. episode, whatever), and I do not certainly find him funny at all.  Napaka-OA and really downrighyt irritating.

Does anybody else share my sentiment about this certain wannabe?

After hearing the judges' high praise Gian's painfully off-key performance, this franchise has lost its credibility for me.

The judges are deaf and dumb. And by "dumb," I don't mean mute.

if there is any justice in this world... ira and mau should go through. (seriously tho... was it just me or did anyone else think the producers were "selling" mau a tad too much last night? parang masyadong obvious.)

Title: Re: Philippine Idol

I sneaked in a few more votes for Mau. I don't blame the producers for "over-selling" her. It's very obvious the reason she didn't get through the first time is that Filipinos are not used to dark-skinned, slightly overweight singers who aren't playing funny or who aren't American. They tend to vote for the cute, petite mestizas.

If Suey gets put through, I'm quitting PI.

The look on Mr. C's face after the 2nd female finalist was announced.... PRICELESS!The look says it all for me. The way he was shaking his head before Francis spoke for his message was exactly what I did.
  :-[

Ken??? WTH?? If it was based on last night's performance, he was definitely the lowest in my ranking.

No Ira??? Hellloooooooo???????

Buti na lang, PASOK si MAU! But the girl really has guts.. to actually say on national TV that "hindi ito pagalingan, but pagandahan!" Or something to that sort. She hit the nail on the head on that point! Talent and Guts... a very good combination. IMO.

I think the Philippines got ONE out of four right, based on last night's performances. Thank God it was Mau.

I didn't think any of the guys were any good last night, actually, but the two that sucked least were eliminated.

Ken's performance was hands down the worst I've seen of any semifinalist on ANY Idol franchise - and I've watched quite a number of them.

Pilita's "promise to lose weight" comment would've created such a negative press backlash against her if she had uttered that as a judge on American Idol. Although I could sort of see her point. Having Stef and Mau standing side-by-side was like seeing a pair of Pinay Mandisas.  ;D

d**n right!! Francis M. has no right to sit as a judge and he's NOT doing his job.. His persona and antics are similar to those he project in Eat Bulaga, so downright crass! If anyone knows Francis M. in person, please refer him to this site and browse this thread for his information and further education!

MAU is my girl (I texted 20 times for her, 10 for IRA and RAMIRR)!  Not because she's the underdog but because she's the REAL THING in this batch. Not even the combined powers of Pow, Jeli, Apple, Stef and that over-acting Armarie (frankly, she should be the 1st to go, 2nd Jeli!) could topple her lung-power. She even has better fashion sense than the rest of the girls.

Let's us not cease supporting MAU. She's the only one who could raise the show's level of competition. Forget the rest!

It is very frustrating to see the results of PI voting. The same process is done on all IDOL franchises around the world, 100% of the decision on who wins  is based on the telephony (SMS or landline) votes. Sadly, most Filipinos do not know how to vote WISELY! This is true even in politics. In Philippine politics, popular and good looking actors/actresses win over more credible and well educated public servants! Who are to blame? The VOTERS! Another thing, if you have more money, you have a bigger chance of winning against your opponent. So I would not be surprised if Philippine Idol turns out the same. Imaging Jeli or Mig being the first Philippine Idol? That would really suck! But hey, Erap won the Presidency a few years back. Sabi nga nila, ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES! If you are a contestant, and your father is a billionaire, it wouldn't hurt shedding out a million pesos to buy votes! Sure winner ka na hindi ka pa kumakanta!

But inspite of my being cynical about PI, I will continue to support PI knowing I can do something about it in my own little way to help PI succeed. I will vote for the more deserving candidates. I am calling on all PI fans to join me please. Let the millionaires spend their money for their candidate. I believe if we join forces, we can win over those vote buyers!

Did you guys catch last night's show?

MTRCB Chairman La Guardia was in the audience. Ryan Agoncillo asked a contestant to tell a joke after her performance. Her joke was: "Alam niyo ba, kung malaki daw ang SU, malaki din ang PEK?"

Chairman La Guardia's jaw dropped, and she looked like she had just burst an aneurysm. Ryan A. turned beet red, and screamed something like, "Diyos ko! Sana puwedeng bumuka na ang lupa at kainin ako!"

Then the contestant clarified: "Totoo naman e. Kung malaki ang SUGAT, malaki din ang PEKLAT."

yes it was on... and i imagine ken (being the "iyakin" he himself admitted to being) cried his eyes out after mr. c basically said he sang without any hint of emotion and that his attempts at vocal acrobatics made him sing out of tune.

seriously, seeing ken try to keep his composure after mr. c tore him apart was the HIGHLIGHT of my evening! ha ha! (the poor guy was so rattled that he even said he was "very happy" with the judges' comments... lol.)

for me... best female performer that night, hands down, was MAU (followed by ARMS) ... best male performer was REYMOND (with GIAN coming a close second... i know, i'm as shocked as you are.)

who needs to go? KEN! (... to be followed next week by MIGUEL or STEF.  ::))

Ken

Agree 100%. I think Mr. C's "It was devoid of any feeling whatsoever" was a Simon-worthy comment on Ken's awful performance.

I found Mau/Reymond to be the standouts last night.

ABC-5 really needs to replace Francis M. I think his one and only comment which he told each and every performer was a variation of "You have the potential to be the Philippine Idol." I love it when he tells contestants they very sang well, then you hear Mr. C telling the same performer it was a very bad/uneven performance just a few seconds later.

I totally agree with you on this. Francis cannot seem to give a good insight nor right critique on the performances. If we listen to him, we're going to end up with a 12-way tie. I also relish the moments when he  would praise the performance of the contestant only to hear Mr. C shoot it down later. Pilita on the other hand cannot seem to decide whether she is judging a beauty or a personality contest or a singing contest.

The text malfunction was true: Using Globe, I tried to vote for Mau repeatedly yesterday afternoon, and all I got was "Message Sending Failed" notes. My votes did go through from Smart, and for the Globe phone, they finally went through during the last 15 minutes of voting last night.

But what ABC did is really unfair:

1. If the last two they told were safe were actually the bottom two, dehado na sila for next week's show, since they'll need double the number of votes to get out of the bottom two slots.

2. If they aren't the bottom two (I don't recall Ryan A ever using the term "Bottom Two"), then they were made to go through hell for nothing - Arms and Mau did not deserve that kind of mental torture. They were already trembling and weeping.

The correct thing to do would've been similar to ABS-CBN's actions whenever a Big Brother/PDA vote is suddenly invalid: donate the text revenues to charity, then start over. Have a special show with the contestants performing the same songs then opening voting for another 24 hour period - like what happened on American Idol when wrong numbers were flashed on screens last season.

Carrying over votes then eliminating two people the following week just practically guarantees the current bottom two that they will both be eliminated this coming Sunday.

I hope the bottom two weren't really Arms & Mau, and that they were just made to go through that "for effect."

Yeah, what I meant was, everyone performs again, then same normal voting period after the repeat performance show - with the new, legal results show airing next.

Quote

I suppose that's related to the size of their voting population compared to that of other countries.

^ ahhhh... okay. yeah, i think that's not such a bad idea. personally, i don't really mind how they handled this. in hindsight kasi, if they did what "dos" did... they'd be labelled as copycats. LOL.

so that means the bigger the possible voting population the shorter the time? how strange. you'd think they at least open it longer so that they'd make more money AND prevent such surprising results (like what happened to jennifer hudson).

After American Idol's 2nd (or 3rd?) season, the landline votes became Toll-Free, while votes via SMS were "by standard SMS rates only." Walang patong! So voting really wasn't income-generating for them anymore. They're the #1 show in the #1 market, so I guess they make more than enough from their commercials already.  ;D

Well, something I never thought I'd say on this thread:

Apple was the best performer of the night.

Arms was pretty bad, while Mau was surprisingly average: She performed her song effortlessly; however, that tune needed to be belted, so she clearly missed the mark.

I liked Mr. C's comment to one of the guys: "You know that song 'Play That Funky Music White Boy'? That was you. Your performance was so white." Not the best thing to hear during the week when the theme is Soul Night.  ;D

How Ken and Miguel made the Top 12 gets less and less clear every week.

I'm not voting this week at all. No one impressed me enough to get even just 2.50 from me.  ::)

;D "Always Be My Baby" is my fave Mariah ditty..Jeli massacred the song!

Jan and Miguel were soooo wimpy..They deserve some kicking!

Somebody should grab the microphone from Ken..he dished out some drivel obviously to gain sympathy for something that happened more than 2 weeks ago and to cover for his bad performance.

Gian was more conscious about his movements rather than putting more ooommph in his performance and I felt bad!

Arms? Althroughout, she sounded like a tiger. What's with all that roaring? Did it ever occur to her that it's painful to the ears and throat?

Francis M. and Pilita C. have NO RIGHT to sit there as judges. The former obviously is tone deaf and could not express himself well while the other is more conscious about securing an image of generosity rather than being a truthful byotch!

DJ MO and Bella Flores would have been better judges.

Unless the mediocre singers' stupid barangay and supporters have united once more, I have this feeling that one of those who would go but shouldn't is MAU...Oh my, I am beginning to feel sick!

I agree that Mau didn't exactly overwhelm with her performance. But i still voted for her (and urged people to do so) for fear that the show would be left with Ken and Jeli instead. If I was part of ABC 5 management, I'd ensure that Ken and Jeli would be booted out, because at least Arms and Mau can sing. Idol would be left with 10 finalists, at least 3 of whom can't sing.

It was the first time I enjoyed Gian's performance, and Mr. C chose that same moment to say something bad about him. hahaha! I think that was the first time he dissed Gian. I saw Gian about 2 months ago 'guest-singing' with Sitti's front act at TAvern on the Square. Thought he was too theatrical and didn't think it would translate well with the masses. Kaya I was surprised to see him during the Idol auditions.

Performance Night 3: Metro Pop Songs

Rankings:

1. Reymond - I know I've said this before, but he's pitch perfect. He knows how to emote with his voice. Good for him for finding the power note at the end of the song. In my opinion the single best performance of the night. Eargasmic!!! Grade: A+/A

---------------------------

2. Mau - Soulful and "kick some ass" vocals. But I noticed that she's uncomfortable with her movements, she's having a hard time projecting effortlessly. And also ung kanta parang walang buildup. Yada Yada Yada and then BAM!!! big belt at the end. Grade: A-/B+

3. Jan - his most polished performance yet. All of the high notes were dead on and it sounds good too. But the performance lacks soul and passion plus there is something about his voice quality that I can't seem to pinpoint, that sounds amateurish. But good for him definitely his best performance yet. Grade: B+

4. Pow - Been there done that. medyo boring ng konti. But nobody does vulnerabilty and tenderness better than Pow. Grade: B/B-

5. Apple - I actually like her performance, she chose a song that suited her voice. And I love the tender and quiet ending. But just like her previous perfromances, she can't seem to sustain the quality of her voice every time she hits the high notes. Nagiiba ang texture ng boses nya. She was noticebly sharp in the high note towards the end of the song. Grade: B-

6. Jeli - She started strong, sensual and sexy but towards the middle, just like Apple you can hear the tension in her voice everytime she hits those high notes na hindi naman talaga high. Plus her last note was off key. Grade: B-

7. Arms - She chose the wrong song. Anak should be sung the simple the better. And if you know Arms, simple and subtle are the last words to describe her. She overdid the song. Another classic OA performance from Arms. Grade: C+

8. Gian - Oh no what happenned? Why can't he just sing in a straightforward manner. Why does he have to do all those unnecessary kulots that made him off key a number of times. The falsettos were awful and unnecessary. Plus the emotions were a little self conscious. Grade: C-

-----------------

9. Miguel - Someone should tell Miguel to look at himself in the mirror while singing. He is the least telegenic among the idols, all of his movements and facial expressions looked awful and awkward. Plus there is something in the tone of his voice that is off putting. Grade: D

10. Ken - He started weak but in the middle he strated to get into the groove of the song (a little bit). And when he went for the big note at the end, he almost made it until his held note cracked 2 seconds before he lets go of the note. Ay si Ken "Di na Natuto", he should know by now that he's having a hard time sustaining a note. If the keys were lowered, which I think should've been, he could've nailed that last note. Grade: F

Bottom 3

Should be:

3. Gian
2. Miguel
1. Ken - ELIMINATED

Will Be: (Predictions)

3. Gian
2. Pow
1. Ken - ELIMINATED

Other Comments

Quote of the night: "Nalaglag nga e" (yung hikaw) - Pilita Corales (after Jan's performance)

Kiss Ass of the Night: Arms (doing her annoying and beauty pageant "thank yous" to the judges. Does she have to do this every Saturday? Enough already!! We get it, you're grateful to the judges blah blah blah!!

Judges:

Hadji Alejandro: I like the energy he brought in the show. He should definitely replace FM. Plus I love that he didn't hold back, and gave bad criticisms when necessary.

Pilita Corales: She's an integral part of the show. She's the only one who can get away with the kinds of comments she makes. Kung wala siguro si Mamita, and boring ng show!

Ryan Cayabyab: Much better than last week. Kaya lang I don't agree that Jan gave the ebst perfromance tonight. Reymond won the night by a mile!!

I have a feeling ABC-5 itself decided to sponsor a 5-week tour in Europe for Francis M. in order to protect this precious investment of theirs. If they know what's good for the show, then by next week, they'll announce that Pilita has decided to join Francis M. on tour for the next four weeks... and that Ken and Miguel have dropped out of the competition to appear with them.  ;D

I actually liked Arms' and Apple's performances best last night. Mau was okay, but you really cannot tackle a Dulce song and then perform it at a lower intensity than Dulce does. It's just like when Simon always tells the American Idol contestants that they cannot perform a Whitney or Mariah song then deliver less than those singers - they will just ultimately disappoint.

I think Reymond is probably the best male vocal performer there, but he does not have even an ounce of the very important X-Factor. I think the opposite is true of Gian.

ideally... if the next philippine idol were male... he'd have gian's charisma, jan's looks and reymond's talent.  ;D

I have a feeling ABC-5 itself decided to sponsor a 5-week tour in Europe for Francis M. in order to protect this precious investment of theirs. If they know what's good for the show, then by next week, they'll announce that Pilita has decided to join Francis M. on tour for the next four weeks... and that Ken and Miguel have dropped out of the competition to appear with them.  ;D

I shared the same thoughts as I watched Philippine Idol last Saturday night. I noticed that Pilita made some improvements with her comments and it made me think that something was probably behind Francis M's "tour" of Europe and it was Philippine Idol related. Hadji was a really far better and credible judge that what they used to have.

It seems that they'll also have 5 different judges each week. Parang audition ata.  ;D

Raymond got eliminated last night... now I know totoo pala na hindi singing contest ang philippine idol... this is all full of bull crap ... imagine, naiwan si Ken, Miguel and Jeli.  isa rin itong malaking patunay na kaya may mga pulitikong bugok sa gobyerno, kasi hanggang ngayon maraming mga pinoy ang  hindi marunong bumoto.

Im not attacking anybody, but if Ken, Jelli or whoever is your relative/friend, wouldnt you vote for them like mad too? And it just so happened that their family and friends are supporting them all the way and there's nothing wrong with that.
I dont get why people continuously blame the voters. It's their money. Blame those who didnt vote.
This always happens in AI, Ryan Seacrest is always saying that maybe you did vote but maybe it wasnt enough. Diba?

And I think all those in the Top 12 deserve their spot anyway.  :)

Peace. :D

You are right about that.. I have said it before that the concept of objectivity and using one's CONSCIENCE by voting wisely is NEVER going to work in Philippine Idol.  So to those who know talent when they see one, don't be surprised if those who have REAL talent get booted out. Don't feel bad or guilty because you voted for them for you could only spend that much.

So it's pointless blaming those people who voted for KEN, JELI, MIGUEL and JAN in spite of the fact that they truly sucked.  It's their money they're burning to begin with.  Just exact your sweet revenge on them  after Season 1 by NOT BUYING THEIR RECORDS OR TICKETS TO THEIR SHOWS. That easy. The real test whether that contestant really deserved the Idol Title is thru RECORD SALES and public support to their concerts and other shows. It's mean and nasty but hey, would you waste money on people you hold no high regard from the start?

I bet my ass that after this season's finale, these friends and relatives would all scamper away (kasi nanalo na eh!) and would not bother spending P300 on their idol's original CD, coz they would either ask for a complimentary copy or simply burn it.

 ;D

I think that's also precisely why you're not bothered by the way the vote has been going.  :)

Let's hope Ryan C stays true to his word, so even if the talented ones continue to get voted off, we'll at least get to see the untalented ones squirm (and hopefully even cry) as they hear HONEST evaluations of how badly they suck.

I am hoping against hope. Ryan C knew well about the voting trend so why wait til someone so good gets voted out for him to dish out honest criticisms? Although he had been honest about it, his evaluations appeared somewhat lame and reserved.

Oh well, if it's going to be a battle of the voiceless in the end,  then I'd like Ryan C. do a Simon Cowell regardless of what the public may think and I'd love to see these untalented ones not just squirm but melt out of humiliation and thereafter, blame his/her supporter for putting them there right on the hot spot!  ;D

mr. c's WONDERFUL "barbed" reason for his alleged change in critiquing the contestants beginning next week: ano pa ba gagawin ko kung matatanggal isa-isa yung magagaling? ... already seemed to have some effect on the contestants.

obviously, he shares our sentiments that not all the contestants there deserve to be in the top twelve... but was trying to "be filipino about it" (his words) and not be rude. well mr. c ... bakit ngayon lang?! ... better late than never, i suppose.  ::)

moving away from the contestants -

can't they do anything about the sound engineering?  ???
since the very start of PI, microphones dont work, some are too loud,
some are not on the house speakers... ???
maybe that's the reason why some contestants sing off key coz they cant
hear the music...

last night was bad again in terms of sound...

have  a great week ahead folks!

Schedule changed to:
     Performance Night : Sundays
     Results Night : Mondays

Missed last night's performance night. Sayang!! Missed the recharged and all business Mr. C and his no holds barred comments.

But again due to problems with Smart and Sun, another results show turned into pssshhtt! Carry-over NA NAMAN!!!

Jeli has to go. She was given the honor of opening the show with the first 2 lines of the week's big production number... and she actually forgets the words! Two frickin' lines to memorize, and she can't even do that! Not only that, but she gazes into the camera with a shocked/dazed look of a deer caught in headlights... then is visibly startled when the next singer continues flawlessly on cue.

It was just really pathetic.

last night was bad again in terms of sound...

ABC finally tweaked their sound system on last night's performance show - the reverb was quite obvious, and what a HUGE difference it made! I don't think Ken, Miguel and Jeli necessarily got better, but their talents were quite enhanced by the new and improved sound of the show.

Random thoughts:

1. My bottom three would be Pow, Jan and Miguel (but he was actually better than Jan & Pow last night). No one is more surprised than me that I cannot include Ken and Jeli on that list. Although I think it would be poetic justice if the one week that Ryan C. told him he was safe would turn out to be the week we see Ken eliminated (*crosses fingers*)

2. I don't think any American Idol contestant would ever dare take on the Whitney Houston version of "I Will Always Love You," since that would seem impossible to pull off. And I wish she hadn't worn that stupid costume, since vocally, Mau did it PERFECTLY. You were not left thinking "Nice, but you're no Whitney." She WAS Whitney... and more. A solid, Grade A performance.

3. The new two hour voting limit is WRONG, since they forgot one key element: The American Idol Performance Show ends at 9:00PM, so the two hours of voting (9PM-11PM) is PRIME TIME for students, one of this franchise's biggest target audiences. Our performance show ended almost at 11:00PM - and it would've been later had the PBA Game gone into overtime. People need to sleep for work or school the next day - they can't stay up and vote until almost 1:00AM!

4. Sadly, I still expect to see Mau, Gian... and Arms or Apple in the Bottom Three tonight. After the first few eliminations, we're clearly in a "vote for the worst" competition.

What was the theme last week and who was the guest judge? (Not this week, LAST week).

Pinoy bands; Wency Cornejo.

==========

When I saw that Ken was in the second group with Arms, Mau and Apple, I knew for sure one of "my girls" (they are my top three choices to win this competition) would be in trouble. I have no idea exactly who is voting for Ken at this point.

When you look at the bottom two in that group, Arms and Apple, I think the problem was - they were splitting the same vote. They're almost exactly the same type, as Ryan C. also pointed out - they're strong performers with maybe a bit too much self confidence. I suppose the closest analogy I can think of is La Toya London and Jennifer Hudson. One had to go earlier to strengthen the voting support of the other.

At least I hope that's how it goes...

When Jelli got eliminated  i thought that there is some hope in the way people are voting. Although i did feel a tinge of sadness ( a very small tinge lang ) kase for the 1st time i was able to listen to her performance without cringing, then she got eliminated the next day.

That sense of hope got dashed big time when Ryan A. announced that Ken was safe! I guess the aussie dollars do come a lonnggg way for him.

Whats up with Pow, though? She's been doing the same thing week after week. Her performances are getting too predictable.
Title: Re: Philippine Idol
Post by: blitzkrieg on Oct 31, 2006 at 11:10 PM
;D Was glad of the results..

It was inevitable for JELLI to pack up. She could not hold a candle to the other strong female contenders. But she is really lovely. She reminds me of Miriam Quiambao. With her height, figure, talent and good command of the Queen's language, she could be our next representative to the Ms. Universe  ;D

As for ARMS, well, I never really liked her to begin with. Her style is so antiquated and her vocals is something I don't wish to listen on CD.  But I think her  one liner (Vote wisely, matuto na tayo) last week did it for her. Frankly, she sounded so desperate and made the others appear like non-talents!

I hope their fans, as Reymond's and Drae's did (I think), would all switch to MAU who is getting better week after week. I think this is most possible if these fans want to get rid of JAN and MIGUEL.

And true, POW is getting too predictable..

With the exception of Mau's performance, the entire show was painful to my ears. I could not get all the praise for Jan, since I really thought he did the entire song off-key, and "La Vida Loca" doesn't even have a complex melody.

If I were to rank the performances, it would be:

1. Mau; 20 points higher than...

2. Apple; 50 feet of crap higher than...

3. Everyone else

If Pilita tells Pow to wear a skirt or Mau that she's fat one more time, then they have the legal right to shoot her. She's so fixated on those two things. Had I been Mau, I would've said, "Ma'am Ita, have you heard of Aretha? She's a performer who is much more respected and acclaimed than you ever were. And if you watched American Idol 2, you'd know that the winner was at least a hundred pounds heavier than me, and on that franchise, most of his competition could actually sing. So sod off, you geriatric 'Asia's Queen of Songs' and take your body image issues straight out of the 1950s with you."
Title: Re: Philippine Idol
Post by: Klaus Weasley on Nov 06, 2006 at 12:33 AM
I know it's getting irritating. Pow likes to wear pants. She should wear pants. That's who she is. Mau is fat but a lot of famous singers are fat. She's talented. That's all that matters. Take it or leave it.

Rankings:

1. Gian - for me this is how to do it. Just because the theme is dance doesn't mean you have to have a chorecogphy just like what some did. It was slick and effortlesss. Overall
performance, he was the best last night. Grade: A-/B+
2. Apple - Vocally speaking, she was the best last night. She went for the big notes, and she hit them big time. I didn't hear the usual sharp notes. But what the heck was she trying to prove with the veil??? What was she thinking? Plus she really needs to work on her attitude, she seemed aloof and mataray. Grade:A-/B+
3. Pow - this was her comeback performance. what's up with Mr C.'s comment? Her performance was a departure from her previous performnaces. Ano pang reinvention ang gusto niya? tumumbling si Pow ng nakapalda? This was her best performance in a long time. But there were still some off notes she needs to work on. Grade: B+

------------

4. Jan - TACKY! TACKY! I cringe a lot of times with his over the top dance moves. But kudos to his energy, he's probably the only one who soared with the band. All of the judges picked him as one of the best perfermrs of the night. So not true!!!! Grade: B-/C+
5. Mau - everybody knows she's a great singer, there's no doubt about that. But as a performer she really needs to loosen up and be more relaxed and seasoned. But mamita's comments were way off, so what if she's not thin. What Mau needs is more confidence (and better taste in her outfits), not to lose weight. Grade: B-/C+
6. Ken - what the crap was the feather all about??? When I first saw it, I almost laughed to death. It distracted me so much I barely remember his performance. But I think this was one of his better vocal performances. Everytime he intwerjects "C'mmon" in the song, I want to punch him till he dies! Grade: C
7. Miguel - another performance that shows why he didn't deserve to be in the Top 12. Regine's comments were a hoot! Grade: D

Bottom 3

Should Be:
3. Mau
2. Ken
1. Miguel - ELIMINATED

Would Be: (Predictions)
3. Ken
2. Apple
1. Pow - ELIMINATED

Quote of the Night:
(not verbatim)
"There are 2 movements... na parang pagirl" (Regine Tolentino on Miguel)

The Judges
Ryan Cayabyab - He didn't think Gian and Pow were that good and Jan was supposed to be??? Whatever!

Pilita Corales - what is her obsession with skirt and body fat???? I like the craziness she brings in the show but seriously!!

Regine Tolentino - she exceeded my expectations. She was actually good. i thought she would be holding back with her comments, but thankfully she did not. In fact in some cases, she was the only one who pointed out things that have been so obvious previously.

Random thoughts:
- backup dancers????? bakyang bakya!!!!!
- this was probably the most energetic the crowd has ever been

obvious na di maabot ni jan yung part na " like a bullet through your brain" kaya tinula nya na lang!  and yup, don't the idols have fashion consultants to help them with their looks? Mr. C was too harsh with Pow. She was aiight, though mas marami pang kinanta yung back up singers kesa sa kanya. Hope the results won't crush a more deserving contestant's dream tonight!
Title: Re: Philippine Idol

Miguel should be the one to go. I think the last time any judge had a positive comment about him was when he sang "next in line". and that was a while back.

Doubt if he will be eliminated though. Unless all his fans heard regine's "pa-girl" comment about his dancing and got disillusioned in the process.

and i concur about everyone's observations re pilita's obsession with pow and mau. i think if the competition was really about  someone who not only sounds good but fits their stereotype of who looks good as well,  they shouldn't have allowed mau and pow into the top 24 or 12. it's as bad as accepting female finalists into Rockstar Supernova knowing that Tommy and company would never pick a girl.

Well, nice predictions. The Should-be's though ended up seating comfy in that corner couch.

APPLE's departure was totally unexpected..I had this gut feeling that KEN, who had probably watched Madonna's The Girlie Show Concert a hundred times, was going to pack his feathered jacket..Frankly, the choice of attire further fanned rumours about his sexuality. The posters in the PI website are having a grand picnic on this. Click:

I agree PILITA should stop nitpicking on POW's attire and MAU's weight, as if they were offenses punishable under the law.

Regine Tolentino was a breath-of-fresh-air. Her judging was more real than Mamita's.

I now get how the others or you guys feel if your idol gets the boot. Ive been kinda biased ever since the beginning. I was rooting for Apple and Miguel cause Apple's my kabarkada's sister and Miguel is their friend and also my cousins' classmate(haha ang layo na but still..). So yeah, I was just for them and only them and complained when people complained on how their idols are gone and how the likes of Ken, Jelli and fine, Miguel are still there.

I voted for her but she still got voted off. Now I know why the others constantly attack the weaker singers, but yeah.. Sayang. :( I still dont have anything against Ken or Miguel or whoever but  HAY NAKO I really hope KEN WINS THIS THING just to piss everyone off. Theyre kicking all the good singers one by one!!
Title: Re: Philippine Idol

Ugh.

I personally felt Apple was a lot more marketable than Mau had she won this competition. The girl is versatile, confident and has very good stage presence, plus is (let's be honest) more aesthetic.

I think the best part of the results show for me were the obvious looks of shock and disgust on Arms' and Jeli's faces when it was announced that Apple was eliminated instead of Ken. Priceless!

When this competition started, I really thought a female would win, since I honestly felt the females were much more talented than the male contestants. Now we're left with Mau and Pow, who have good voices but are sometimes underwhelming when performing, and a group of males who mostly cannot sing. Despite all the praise, I really thought Jan was William Hung-laughable yesterday, while Miguel and Ken were... their usual selves.

At this point, I really want Ken and Miguel to be the final two, since it'll be interesting to see how ABC will market either of them as the winner of Philippine Idol. That would really be their HUGE investment flushed down the toilet, so it'll be chaos. I'd like to see the mad scramble.  ;D

i  cringed while watching jan's performance. thought he missed most high notes. expected him to be dissed. and what happened? everyone praised him!!!!

on a side note, chanced upon the performance of pinoy pop superstar's defending champ (whose name escapes me at the moment). she sang "get here" which, if i'm not mistaken, ken sang a week or so ago. gave me goose bumps because there was no birit, it was beautifully done (even the judges commented about her cool style). would have whupped ken's ________ if they were featured back to back. oh well.

in defense of jan, his performance was much better than i expected... i was waiting for him to "choke" badly, but he didn't. and he delivered it with a touch of class. his worst note however was cleverly disguised by the BV's ... so i doubt it was that noticeable when heard live.

woo hoo!!! yey mo twister!

the only problem with mo's prediction is, he's not exactly the most popular guy around. what if all his enemies come together and vote for ken just to see him wear a dress for a week?  ;D

DJ MO seemed game about it but I'd still rather see KEN go home than see the former in drag.. But KUDOS to him! He brought life to the show and is a way, way better judge than Francis M.

At this point, I really want Ken and Miguel to be the final two, since it'll be interesting to see how ABC will market either of them as the winner of Philippine Idol. That would really be their HUGE investment flushed down the toilet, so it'll be chaos. I'd like to see the mad scramble.  ;D

I reallly want  this to happen   seeing Ken and Miguel at Finals ..  ;D ;D ;D

i am so scared that one of the better singers will be booted out tonight because of mo's 'jasmine trias' moment. ken supporters who felt it was ken's time to go will vote for him just to spite mo. pati si kuya germs and the entire that's entertainment alumi!!!grrr!!! sayang. ok na sana ang frankness nya!
that was indeed jan's best performance. i voted for mau although i disagree that there was nothing she could have done to the song. regine remakes songs all the time and finds something there to change. other forums say lea salonga will guest judge next week?!? please don't let ken be there!!!

YES!!!! FINALLY!!! after so many weeks of waiting... BYE BYE KEN!!!

DJ Mo made this week's viewing very enjoyable. I would want him to be one of the resident judges. Mo and Hadji and Mr. C. That would be a formidable line-up. If they really want a female judge. let's see how Miss Lea does next sunday. She has always been my Number 1 female choice since the whole PI thing was announced. Lea's participation was confirmed by Ryan A when he announced next Sunday's theme.. Movies and Musicals.

I was at Megamall earlier, and Idol is broadcast from Cinema 3 pala.

The Philippine Idol: The Final 12 CD is available already, apparently exclusively outside the theater, Php 305.

Tracks:

Drae - Hang On

Stef - Pangako

Pow - Nakapagtataka

Gian - Himala

Apple - Ngayon

Jeli - Iisa Pa Lamang

Jan - Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka

Arms - Araw Araw, Gabi Gabi

Reymond - Hindi Magbabago

Ken - Di Na Natuto

Mau - Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin

Miguel - Next In Line

Group Song - Kaleidoscope World

==========

I find it funny that Miguel's song is "Next In Line." Now that Ken's gone... could the title be prophetic?  ;D

Pow could say the same thing about Francis.. umalis na siya at bumalik.... he still doesn't know his job description, still doesn't know a thing about being a judge in a competition like this...still groping for words. ABC should have extended his vacation...it should have been an all expense paid trip until the season finale is over and done with.

It's justice enough for him to be back but STILL have a guest judge present on the show. That pretty much tells everyone that despite his being back, they still need an actual third judge on the show.  ;D

Lea was a fantastic guest judge. Francis M. further illustrates his uselessness as a judge.

Mau ruled it in the first round. Pow was the best in the second. Extra points for having the guts to sing a Miss Saigon song in front of Lea.

Round 1 Ranking:

1. Mau - she nailed the attitude. The voice was rock strong except for some high notes that didn't quite reach the exact pitch, medyo bitin ng konti ung iba. But she owned the song, and she's beggining to push the envelope in terms of her vocal range. Grade: A/A-

2. Gian - his most heartfelt and least affected performance so far. And his most understated and subtle performance yet. I agree with Lea you can feel what he was feeling. Mr.C was dead wrong about him not feeling the warmth of Gian's performance. Grade: A-/B+

3 Pow - she started good and quite in her element. But the head tone was not good, it showed her vocal limitations again. Lea was dead on! But I'm so glad a sane person finally said how unneccassry for Pow to wear a dress. Go Lea!!! Grade: B/B-

4. Jan - all the notes were dead on, effortless ang vocals and that was notable since he was hitting some high notes in the song. I just wished hindi ito ung song na kinanta nya. Gasgas na kasi e tska melodically repetitive. What was lacking was the gigil and stage presence. Medyo forgettable ng konti. Grade: B-

5. Miguel - MY EYES, MY EYES!!! The sight of Miguel dancing was just too creepy! The voice??? blahhh Grade: F

Round 2 Ranking:

1-2 (TIE) Gian - in terms of performance it was the best, vocally speaking nothing really notable, I would even call it mediocre. I could not understand half of what he was singing. But in terms of the moves and the dancing ans stage presence, he brought the house down! Grade: A-/B+

1-2 (TIE) Jan- vocally speaking it was the best number of Round 2. The climax of the song was really impressive, there was a builup and he just went for the big notes. I'm so glad Lea said how gorgeous his vocie was, because that's what I've been saying from the start. He has the most attractive voice among the finalists. But just like what the judges say, kulang sa spontaneity and naturalness ung moves. I especially cringed when he did that little dance during the change of tempo. I was thinking, nagiba ba ung kanta? Kasi hindi appropriate ung moves nya. Grade: A-/B+

3. Pow - I don't know, I did not like it that much. Kulang sa passion and strength ung performance. This is such an emotional and powerful song, and I did not feel it in her performance. It lacked conviction and that raw emotion. Grade: B

4. Mau - when I saw the lineup, I knew it was the wrong song for her. Her performance lacked drama, projection, emotion, passion, and vocal wow. This song is a showstopper and sadly the show did not stop with her performance. But she was still good even though the song was obvioulsy out of Mau's vocal range. It's just that with this song, it's either you go all out or it's not gonna be as effective and memorable. Grade: B-

5. Miguel - that was not good all. The song was too rangy for him. Ang daming flats. Lea's kindergarten comment was a hoot. Grade: F

Bottom 3
Should Be:

3. Jan
2. Pow
1. Miguel - ELIMINATED

Will Be: (Predictions)

3. Miguel (I have a gut feeling this will happen)
2. Gian
1. Pow - ELIMINATED

Quote of the night:
(not verbatim)
"May award ako sa iyo Mau, best supporting extra" (Mr C.) - I was thinking the same thing, when I saw the clip, I was thinking sino bang contestant dito si Mau o si Brad Turvey?

The Judges

Lea Salonga - This is why I love her. She nailed the job. She was direct to the point without being rude. She knows what she's talking about.

Francis M - this is it! He should be replaced next season. He brings nothing to the table. ganun pa rin ung mga comments nya!

Ryan Cayabyab - ang tipid naman nya. parang tinatamad sya magcomment. And I did not agree with some of his comments (no warmth at Gian's 1st song, Mau panalo sa 2nd song)

Pilita Corales - I love her (guilty pleasure) hehhe. With or without sense, she always brings the craziness and the fun in the show.

Random Thoughts:

- best actor of the night??? wala sa top 5 idols, surprsingly it was Jeli! O man that girl can act. In those few seconds she was able to show the goods. I would not be surprised if she becomes an actress.

- I just love the energy (and class) Lea brought in the show.

Jan- I'm so glad Lea said how gorgeous his vocie was, because that's what I've been saying from the start. He has the most attractive voice among the finalists.

I've never been a fan, but when I listened to the CD, I was surprised. Of the males, he's among the better ones on the CD (along with Reymond). Gian actually doesn't sound good on the CD at all. I'd rank his performance there just a step above Ken's and Miguel's.

I especially cringed when he did that little dance during the change of tempo. I was thinking, nagiba ba ung kanta? Kasi hindi appropriate ung moves nya.

Everyone apparently noticed how awkward that point was! I actually texted someone after seeing that: "Oh no - he started out okay, and then he apparently felt a need to resurrect his Ricky Martin performance moves."

That's true.

But my faith has been restored in our local voters, since we at least got the bottom three right this week.

Konti na lang, we just might have a killer Final Three. Miguel's attitude will hopefully lose him a few more votes next week. Regardless of the backlash one receives, I think the winner of this show should be someone who wants it really bad, and doesn't have a defeatist "Okay lang if I go tonight" attitude.
Title: Re: Philippine Idol

;D So sad that POW had to go. That was the most touching exit this season. And one big injustice!!! But I'm betting MIGUEL goes home next week. By this time, his fans have already realized the words "deaf" and "injustice"

And I would hate seeing MAU bowing out of the race when there are undeserving others who have no right to be on that stage to begin with. There is no other contestant in PI who could easily conquer and win the audience's hearts and ears the way MAU does every week. That to me is the X-Factor!

On the other hand, I disagree with some observers that she missed some high notes in the first song because she never did and that song is well within her range and she showed tremendous comfort in doing that number. "And I'm Telling You"  though was kinda too much for me. The 1st song was upbeat so it was appropriate that she should have chosen a more somber song for the 2nd perf. The Musicales is a bountiful material. I wish she dished out "My Man" or "People" from Funny Girl or "Something Wonderful" from King & I.

I was rooting for a Top 4 WITHOUT Miguel. Buti na lang Lea didn't break her neck with Miguel's performance last Sunday.

I don't think people are deaf..kase we got the bottom three right this time. However, Miguel's machinery did it for Pow. It should have been Miguel who went home last night. I think even Miguel knows this. Did you see his face last night? I think he was expecting it as early as when it was between him and Apple. It just that how can Pow beat a well-oiled campaign that has posters all over tricycles in Alabang and a block voting group???

kaya next sunday...lets vote for those who really deserve it.

Tonight's episode nearly bored me to sleep. And for me, the worst part was, Miguel wasn't even the worst singer of the night. I'd say for Miguel, this was his best night.

Pinsan: hi, mau, pwede pa-sign?
Mau: (looks at drawing) Wow, uy tingnan nyo o! Kayo po may gawa nito?
Pinsan: Opo.
Mau: Saan ko po sa-signan?
P: Kahit saan!
(While mau signs, pinsan greets Reymond)
P: Reymond, sayang...I voted for you!
(Reymond says thanks)
P: Syempre Arms, I voted for you, too. Don't worry, baka better things are in store for you! Next time , drawing ko rin kayo!
(Arms says naku, thank you!)
(Next, syempre picture taking with Mau ,pinsan and the caricature)
Pinsan: Good luck bukas ha?
Mau: Gusto nyo po ng TICKET?

Pinsan: Naku, may pasok ako, e.(aaaargh! nakalimutan na baka may iba syang kamag-anak na gusto manood!na-star-struck daw kaya di naka-pag-isip)

i felt like the judges were already awarding the crown to jan (horrors!) or gian, at the very least.

in round 1, they were enthused with jan's performance and had no comment about mau's song.

and then they gave good song choices to gian and jan, and a horrible one to mau, in round 2..

buti na lang magaling si mau. at ang mga record producers who picked 'on my own' as her possible single. because when she sang in round 3, the judges couldn't nitpick anymore. they had no choice but to acknowledge how good she was. again, she had the audience in the palm of her hand (reminiscent of her rendition of I Will Always Love You and Diamonds are Forever).

vote Mau indeed!

;D  Was at the Araneta ring side (courtesy of a friend who's a friend of Mr. C) for 2 nights and aaarggghhh, was in the company of Gian Fans..Anyway, my observation:

Araneta was not full. General patronage was practically empty especially in the 2nd night..

Fans of JAN were actually scary and intimidating in a sense they were really organized (costumes, pom-poms, etc.,  even in the cheering) and were practically everywhere and in large groups..They were even wilder in the 2nd night.

The stupid judge FRANCIS M. got booed by the audience (including me) for his senseless comments on Mau's BALOT number..What were the judges thinking anyway..

The third number really did it for Mau..Araneta was rumbling with cheers from everyone who gave a standing ovation (that included Jan and Gian Fans) and extended even during commercial break..

DJ MO TWISTER whose face and comments were shown on VTR, got booed..of course, for his prediction on Jan.

Post show tidbidts: The most sought for finalist for photograph posings was...MAU...She was actually mobbed on PI stage. The production staff were pleading people to go home but to no avail. Star talaga!

Overheard Ryan C. telling horror stories of MAU's diva behavior.

I was really resigned to seeing JAN strutting his stuff after being declared winner on the 2nd night so it came as a shock when Ryan A. announced MAU!! Jan and Gian fans were, should I say, TAMEME...

Everyone was ecstatic with a feeling that the public voted right!

The biggest fool of them all, however, is  Francis M. With his fearless forecast favoring Jan having been flushed like manure, he has lost entirely his credibility and with this, I hope NOT TO SEE HIM ANYMORE for the 2nd season of PI.

CONGRATS TO MAU!!

Title: Re: Philippine Idol
Post by: oggsmoggs on Dec 12, 2006 at 11:17 AM
I'm hoping she won't turn out to be someone like Ethel Booba, or whoever who becomes a favorite of tabloid columnists because of their media-catching behavior. That'll really cheapen Philippine Idol (no matter how talented).

I was rooting for Gian (his Gian should be pronounce "Jan" since its "Giancarlo," but that Atenean stole the pronunciation from him), because he's the overall package --- he sounds good, performs well, and has no airs whatsoever (I know since I performed with him during our Kundirana days). Mau's victory was bittersweet for me. She really deserves the title, I'm just hoping she takes Gary V.'s advice to Jan --- to be humble all the way, no matter how successful you've become.

I'm just glad the title didn't go to Nieto. I'm from Ateneo too (LSGH, then Ateneo, then UP, cough... balimbing), but all those equating Nieto's plight with Ateneo's pride is sickening and embarrassing.

@blitzkrieg,

what sort of horror stories re MAU's diva behavior?

Hehehe can't elaborate further coz he must have sensed I was listening (of course, he was just behind me) and covered his mouth and just mumbled things to that woman. But I guess the "diva" term would suffice.

Nevertheless,  that did not stop me from continuously admiring and supporting the girl all the way to her victory. I admit that the DIVA title is what she's been projecting all along but in a positive way I guess coz  in spite of all that rumblings about her looks, she does perform like a diva and as I've said before, she had the audience (fans of Jan and Gian included) in the palm of her hand.  She did it several times in Megamall and she did it again in Araneta.   That's one magic Jan and Gian do not have.. ;D

If that is true, then shame on VIVA.  They have no right to ruin MAU's life now that she is on top of the world. I heard too that there still one more year left of that 5-year contract where VIVA was obligated to build up Mau's career. If there is a bigger violation  committed out of that contract, that belonged to no less than VIVA.

If VIVA pushes with its ridiculous and opportunistic stand, then they are to face the wrath of the public who intensely supported this poor girl. Or better still, ngayon pa lang, BOYCOTT ANYTHING CONNECTED OR RELATED TO VIVA!! This should teach them a lesson.

If that's true, then Gian Magdangal should also be disqualified, since he released the album Gian with Industria: Lite and Live @ Tapika, also with Viva Records, just last year yata. How long is his contract valid?

I don't see Viva doing anything about it, since as blitzkreig pointed out, it's ultimately very bad publicity for them, considering they only brought the issue up after Mau had won the contest. If they had a problem with a contract overlap, then they should've spoken up months ago.

Philippine Idol moves to GMA-7: http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/entertainment/entertainment/view_article.php?article_id=88835

True, the show was too big for ABC, and they had no idea what to do with their finalists/winners. But now GMA's going to treat it like a new show altogether and Mau won't even be acknowledged as the first winner, plus she probably won't get a chance to compete in the upcoming Asian Idol? That just sucks!

That's a PR nightmare for them, but do enough people care about Mau to complain?

Poor Mau.  :-[

On the bright side... at least now we're probably rid of Francis M. - the worst Idol judge of all time.

Pilita's also bottom 5.

But what a waste if we lose Ryan Cayabyab, as well. He gave the show credibility.

Poor Mau.  :-[

Francis M. will probably stay. He's at Eat Bulaga. di ba? = GMA7

Ryan C probably won't stay. He's more of a kapamilya, di ba? = ABS-CBN

Doing Philippine Idol in GMA-7 is way better than in ABC-5. However, napansin ko hindi rin naman talaga umaangat ang mga nagiging winners o kahit runners-up. Hindi mo na maalala ang mga nakaraang sumasali kasi basically they're all forgettable in general. I'm referring to the ones being held lately. Si Sarah Geronimo and her company lang yata ang may pangalan sa ngayon. O may pangalan na nga ba? I'm no viewer of this shows. Minamadali kasi ngayon ang pagsikat.

On the plus side, I just saw Mau on a GMA show, so maybe they will acknowledge her as the first winner of Philippine Idol after all.

On the minus side, Ryan Cayabyab has apparently left the franchise and is now the new headmaster of rival show Pinoy Dream Academy, so there goes the most only credible thing about Philippine Idol.

;D Ryan C. to me is overrated. Yeah he's a great musician and all that with wide exposure to pop music but I am sure GMA7 will find a replacement of same or even better caliber.

Praying that Pilita Corrales and gasp! Francis M. never resurface again, I am thinking of the following possible judges:

Lea Salonga (if she could get away from her Broadway chores)
Gerard Salonga (he's the next best thing after Ryan C.)
Basil Valdez (nuff said!)
Celeste Legaspi (according to my friend, she could be a straightforward snooty byatch!)
Willy Cruz (another master composer)
Sylvia LaTorre (yup and why not?)
DJ Mo (why not again? Apart from the gift of gab, he probably knows by now a radio-friendly voice)
Jai Sabas Aracama (she definitely has the ear for all those "pitchy" notes being a UP Concert Chorus Director)
Joel Navarro (former pop singer turned musical director of the Ateneo Glee Club)
Nanette Inventor
Ogie Alcasid (nuff said again)

I'm more worried about the host... It looks like Regine's a shoo-in, and that's really unfortunate. The host should be someone within the age range of the contestants, and would be able to relate and communicate with them (not someone who has had experience in the industry, baka magmarunong pa siya sa mga judges). Ryan Agoncillo is a good host, but since we're talking about GMA, Drew Arellano seems a better fit than Regine.

My choice for judges are Mo Twister, Wency Cornejo and Leah Navarro!(Off topic: Saw Leah on ANC some months ago and she's a great guest! Ang daming candid na kuwento!) But hey, Celeste Legaspi, why not if she agrees! But they'll probably get Louie Ocampo and Buboy Garovillo who were so lenient and diplomatic in Celebrity Duets. Paolo Bediones and Drew Arellano are good choices to host the show. Regine should just be a guest judge on Belting Divas night.

I'm not impressed with Ryan Agoncillo, he's bland and relies so much on idiot boards. Drew Arellano is fidgety, Paolo Bediones is too old..

Since he's a Kapuso, it's likely that Raymond Gutierrez might land the job. I saw him hosting Bb. Pilipinas and he was very impressive, very relaxed, has excellent communication skills, a certified fashionista and looks refreshing on screen, never mind rumors about his sexual orientation.

I don't want the host to be relaxed; part of Ryan Seacrest's charm is that he's up there being targeted by the judges too, and goes along with the joke (including sexual orientation ones). Have Raymond Gutierrez there, and when a joke like that gets thrown, we'll have one angry mama that weekend's showbiz talk shows. How about Mo' Twister as host?

Hmmm that makes sense but Ryan Seacrest's relationship with the AI Judges is different. Constant gay jokes thrown by either Ryan or Simon against the other would mean nothing as everyone knows they're straight. I've watched every episode of Philippine Idol and Ryan Agoncillo was ever cordial and respectful of the judges so much so that all he did was patronize them. That's why I found him boring. And they also have to contend with the ever hovering La Guardia Civl of MTRCB. It's likely that given GMA's reputation of handling shows, PI could well be sanitized and restrained.

Unless, of course, they get the likes of Rosanna Roces, Rico J. Puno, Giselle Sanchez and Gary Lising to sit there as judges then expect a riotous and vulgar show reminiscent of The Jerry Springer Show with Annabelle Rama storming the studio, picking fights left and right  ;D ;D ;D

On the other hand, I like Voj's idea - Ariel and Maverick as hosts! I find them hilarious. Trouble is they could sometimes be abrasive and abusive with their jokes. I remember them getting the ire of one public official in their show after an otherwise innocent joke went awry.

Joey De Leon???? It's likely that GMA is already considering him. So it's not gonna be surprising anymore.

yup i agree. i did not enjoy ryan's ability to host that philippine idol. all he did was tell to the public the artistas present in the audience such as gretchen barretto, tony boy, joyce jimenez, etc...   who cares if they're in the audience. hehe. :D

i also noticed that ryan's hosting skills were off a lot of times because sometimes he wanted to side with the contestants and that made him looked stupid because the judges were very right at that time.

he even doesn't know some musical terminologies such as vibratto as mentioned by the judges... ryan was so stupid that time that haji alejandro even tried to lecture him on what vibratto is.. haha. :D

and another thing was that Ryan is very short. he's not a tall person to be a host.  the contestant were even taller than him... and that doesn't look good in camera...   hehe... i remember Cat from So You Think You Can DAnce (she's really tall and she's a great host, nice side comments... :))

and speaking of side comments, i really thought ryan's side comments were uncalled for... they're a bit far out... it's painful to hear him say a line that would make him look stupid in front of the camera... hehe...

so i really think Raymond is great for this job. he's a bit composed than ryan. he's way taller than ryan... and with better speaking ability.

I totally agree with you.  Kainis talaga!  Sino ba ang director ng Pinoy Idol?  Is this what we'll be expecting in the next few weeks?

From what I've seen so far, what the judges are looking for are those who are into ballads or slow love songs.  They even had one contestant sing one since his audition piece was not one.  Kaya, I guess that this show will be just like Pinoy Pop Superstar where almost all of the contestants will be singing love songs or birit songs (na masakit talaga sa tenga, sa totoo lang).

It's actually quite disappointing. I expected good things, considering they took it away from ABC-5. I mean, there's no other way but up, right?

Meanwhile, ABS had a primer on the semi-finalists for PDA. The talent, from what they showed, was much better than the ones on PI. Did you see that Miguel, of Philippine Idol, is now joining PDA?

Boy, do I regret wasting half an hour. It was really bad! It's not much different from when ABC had the franchise.

If ABS can find talent for PDA, why can't GMA? Or did AI set too high a standard that the local franchise just disappointed?
Title: Re: Pinoy Idol

 ;D My thoughts:

No repartee between host Raymond and 3 judges. So disappointing of Raymond..
Bad studio acoustics..tunog lata
Bad audience response...they're like zombies
Contestants' voices are so-so..maybe we're so used to listening to powerful & big-voiced AI contestants

On a positive note...I like the way the judges cast their comments/critiques. They are definitely no copycats. They could be dastardly mean yet come off credible. And Jolina is downright bitchy!

And the audience know they're all right..

Overall, the show needs a lot of improvement!

medyo nag-improve na yung stage last saturday. pero i liked penelope more than the last 2 contestants they were pimping. raymond was awful.he didn't go to the contestant after his/her performance to help the singers especially when the judges would give them a tongue-lashing. unlike in american idol where seacrest protects the singers from harsh judgements. replace gaymond ! now na!

Jolina: "I like your energy"

Wyngard: "Okay naman pero medyo kulang pa ang ano..."

Ogie: (I can't remember a thing he said in the show).

I always think: "What if Ryan Cayabyab is watching this how? What would be his comments on the judges' comments?"

I skipped Pinoy Idol altogether since Jolina Magdangal was announced as one of the judges (wala siyang K mag-judge ng singing contest, she makes Paula Abdul look qualified)

I was forced to watch the finale because my mom wanted to see who won. I have to say that the chosen winner was terrible. The other 2 contestants outsang her (and even THEY weren't that good). Zero star quality and a nothing special voice (a 3rd rate Sarah Geronimo). Glad I didn't watch this crap.
