Hi sir Nogo...was not very helpful here in giving you results. I went thru every single file I have stored on 4TB of files and I just realized that I don't have a single file with AAC. So...
#1 & #2 - Is there a way you can provide me a link where I can download such a file, so I may try it on the player? PM me the link of a file.
#3 - Sir Jim, would you know where I can access this option on the R200? I went thru every single option available under set-up and I can't find an option to play a file with compression header on.
#4 - Zoom increments: starts at x1 ---> x2 ---> x3 ---> x4 ---> x8, then back to x1 again. :)
Hi sir stickfighter, I just downloaded the files via torrent. Nakalimutan ko lang kung anong torrent site yun. D ko lang napansin yun dati kasi wla pa ako AVR nun, so naka-stereo yung config ko sa WD Live, it plays both audio and video. Nung dumating na AVR ko (Yamaha rx-v467), so changed my WD Live config to Digital Passthrough (HDMI), sad to say wala ng audio. What I did, I converted the mp4 file to mkv then I used audioconverter (for PopCorn Hour) to convert audio to AC3. Then the 5.1 audio came out. Nagpost ako sa WD community but seems wala pa sila nagawa. Kaya mapilitan ako na palitan yung WD Live to another NMT o kaya HTPC na lang ako. But I still prefer NMT for portability and cost-efficiency in terms of power consumption.

Sa WD Live when I played Dolby TrueHD it registers Dolby TrueHD to the AVR but not for DTS MA, it only reads the DTS core."

Hi sir...let me answer in behalf of sir Jim. Files with .VOB extensions are normally rips from original copies. I ripped one of my dvd's and saved it on my hard drive. Sad to say, the gap jumping from one file to another is still happening with the R200, but the gap is pretty short...just a fraction of a second. :)

@nogo, I believe WDLive hasn't addressed the issue yet w/ AAC vids, and w/ your setup sound may come out using your WDLive if you set audio to Stereo and not Digital.

As for your concern above, is your receiver capable of processing Dolby TrueHD and DTS MA? If it does, then you don't have a problem with bit-streaming HD Audio. In my case, my receiver is NOT capable of Dolby TrueHD and DTS MA, therefore, when I watch movies with Dolby TrueHD or DTS MA, it downstreams to Dolby and DTS core only. :(

Several buyers who also had e8HD gave positive PQ/SQ feedback favoring R200 over measy e8HD, and just few hundred pesos difference nung unit, R200 na sila. Bilis gumalaw itong model na ito so if you are in the market for a 2nd one for the bedroom or guest room nyo, grab this while its available.
Just arrived are R200 (black) and is now with integrated wifi!(yours at @P6500).
i must say that im impressed with the picture quality of R200/s100. i played the old movie Tron 1982 version, without knowing na yung luma pala yung na play ko, without any idea kasi sa story and casts, after 15 mins ko lang nalaman that im playing a pretty old movie. even the old Jaws movie looks new and comparable sa mga latest movies. :)

you don't have to reformat the disk from NTFS to FAT32.
Doing so will limit the file size of your files to 2GB only.
A normal BD Rip ISO is about 40+GB and you will miss out on this if you do so.
I am also a Mac user and I just had to purchase Tuxera NTFS for Mac to allow me read and write access to NTFS HDDs.
Another option is the free SW NTFS 3G.

can you change ownership on the mac side? it should not be read only coz R200 needs that disk to be writeable.
if you have windows, same think make group "everyone" have read write rights.
in mac, is there a way to change ownership of the device/permissions? you may want to try that. or when mounting an NTFS, does it have presets to mount external drives as read only?

Unfortunately bro, it's a "Mac" thing that by default, it only accesses NTFS files as read only.
Thus the need for the SW that I mentioned to unlock NTFS capability.

You tested it? What's your AVR sir? Can you also check what;s your Firmware, juct wanna check if we are same. I was unsuccessful getting DTS core from any DTS HD/MA material that's why i'm asking..
yup it's an old school non-hdmi yamaha htr-5130. FW for r200 is 1.0.5.39, i think. because egreat doesn't have a new FW update for a long time now. I tested it on 5 dtshd mkvs and it's now showing DTS on the AVR. My Xtreamer SW can't support the passthru. unfortunately, i dont have truehd mkvs to test from that's why i don't know yet if r200 supports it. but bro stickfighter has already tested it on his review and claimed that it did support both HD audio. hth.

Sir if you dont mind can you send me a screenshot of the file being played with the info on on the r200 so i know the details of the file while playing?. Just press the info button and it will show on the screen then take a picture of it. I've been trying to resolve this issue on both of my r200.

Thanks bro for the screen shot, it doesn't say on the Audio Codec that it uses DTS HD/MA it only shows DTS MA on the file name which can easily be renamed. A file encoded with DTS MA/HD will show DTS HD/MA on the Audio Codec part and DD TrueHD for DD. Meaning it's possible that the file you have is only encoded with DTS. Do you have full BD rips or ISO's? These rip's and ISO's are encoded with DTS MA and True HD for sure. I'll post a screen shot of a file truly encoded with DTS MA and DD TrueHD para mas clear sir..

anyways i'm not going to the full bdrips route as i'm collecting BDs naman. mkvs are enough for me. magiging redundant na if i collect full bdrips pa. important thing talaga is my avr displays the dts core and i'm happy.
Framestors are valid samples of MKV with DTS-HDMA audio. It's good that the R200 can extract the DTS core from the DTS-HD stream of Framestor. If you have an AVR capable of decoding HD-Audio, Framestor encodes are identified as having DTS-HDMA properly. Kaya ka DTS is obviously because of your optical connection.
As regards BDMV Structures, not being able to at least extract the DTS core is, in my opinion, a player/brand problem - a FW problem to be specific, because the old Mede8er can reliably do this since 2009. Been watching pure BD rips on a Mede8er since Dec 2009 on non-HDMI Yamaha757, and the only problem would be Dolby TrueHD streams (if there is no interleaved AC3 -totally silent for non-HDMI AVR, but if there is AC3 embedded, then you can select that secondary stream to produce sound and it is correctly identified as Dolby Digital both by the player and the AVR), and if the pure BD rip has seamless branching.
Egreat FW support - cross your fingers..no disrespect - reality check based on past records.
How come it doesn't have DTS HD on info under Audio codec. I remember somebody here asked me to download a Framestor Encode MKV to test the subtitle of a file remux. I downloaded 3 of his movies and all shows as DTS HD under the info button under Audio Codec but still gave me only 2 channel LCPM signal. Subtitle didnt work though..

My Mede8er certainly identifies DTS-HD including the silent TrueHD all the time on Framestors. That's Framestor's signature - HD audio on MKV - pioneers actually, but now that type of signature (MKV+HD Audio) is already shared by Kralimarkos, HDManiacs and other prime encoding groups. Only Eureka sticks with BDMV. But their encodes are certainly having HD audio.
Of course your C200 should be able to do this on Framestors and Kralimarkos.
Subtitle problem is due to PGS and Vobsub. It's also my problem but I'm dealing with it by remuxing with SRTs - HD audio kept as is of course.

hi guys, i noticed that this player is not shutting down properly bec. My HDD is always being scanned by my laptop every time i connect it. what i normally do is just press the red power button on the remote and when the LG sign comes up on the TV, I then press the main power button off from the NMT. is there anything i forgot to do to properly shut it down? tia.
Sometimes, i observe this when you power off while movie plays, or a file is open or transferring/moving and was powered off without cancel.
I stop playback first and then power off (graceful power off does the trick for me).

Same here. I always stop the current movie first and even press the home button to return to the main menu. Just being protective of the hard drive lang :)
yup, that's what i do also. i make sure i'm in the home(main menu). and just now my laptop did the scandisk again to the 1 TB WD elements. i already pressed stop on the movie i'm watching and clicked the home button on the remote. :-[

Thanks bro Jim for the extra troubleshooting help... my problem has been solved. I just turned off the BT/Samba. That's the process that is still working in the background even if you turn off the unit pala.

also bro I noticed that you need to rename the subtitle exactly as the file name in order for r200 to recognize it. is there a way to browse the folder if you have multiple external subtitles? tia.
i only have some srt files downloaded from subscene. its says "subtitle off", but when i renamed one srt as the same file, r200 now detected it but that's the only one it recognized and not the 2 other srt files that's in the same folder. gulo ko hehehe.
Mga braders...I ran into a delemma where I need your help regading the R200.
Intro:
My R200 has a 2TB internal HD (with 1TB of loaded films - 1TB free space). Two - 1TB external HD are connected at the back of the R200 (via USB), both of which are filled with films. Every time I switch on to watch films, the R200 detects the movies internally and the movies found in both external HD's. Everything was fine. :)
Yesterday:
Since you now know that both external drives are full, I opted to transfer the contents of one external TB into the internal drive, since I still had 1TB of free space. After the transfer, there is still 36GB left on the internal HD.
Delemma:
So basically, now I have almost 2TB of films on the internal HD and one external HD connected at the back of the R200. However, when I switch "ON" the R200, it does not detect the external HD at all. :(
Have any of you experienced this? Your thoughts/inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Q#1: did you transfer via PC or via R200 File manager interface?
Q#2: the external USB HD you are having a concern with, can a PC still detect the disk?
If yes, then disk is fine, R200 usb has a problem.
If no, then try changing USB cable of disk and detect it on the PC end.
Q#3 w/ your USB disk plugged to win7, does disk administrator of win7 see the disk and its partition at all?

I always appreciate your quick reply and assistance. :) I solved the problem. ;D My bad. :-[ I transferred the files thru a laptop (USB cable of the external HD plugged in one port, the R200 plugged in another port using a USB slave cable).
After the trasfer, I left the "USB Slave Cable" connected at the back of the R200. Turns out, if you leave this USB cable attached, it bypasses the detection on the external drives connected at the back of the R200. :)
Just right now, I was playing around with it and decided to disconnect the USB slave cable. I switched the player on and viola!...there it was, my external HD has been detected. ;D
Nevertheless, this is good to know and share as it might create panic amongst Egreat R200 owners. I know I panicked. :-[
Uy good to know that when the R200 slave port is used, it will only show the internal disk, other (bare SATA and USB disks) wont show.
Kaya pala connecting the PC as slave USB will only detect the internal disk, coz it cuts off the other host ports and the bare SATA.

How do you guys make AAC encoded files run? Will AAC trigger DTS or DD on my receiver? Whenever I play AAC encoded files my receiver only detects it as PLII C. I'm running audio through SPIF and it's set to RAW. If I put it on dualPCM it will detect audio but it's not 6 channels.
Also, if I play standard definition files I don't get audio through the receiver unless I change the settings from RAW to dual channel PCM. Do I really need to change the settings everytime I switch between files with different audio codecs?

Is there any chance that a firmware update will allow for AAC compatibility? I just noticed that more and more files I see are AAC-encoded.

While we have little control how mkvs get encoded, I've always liked the player for its playback, and if ts something more recent, it would help egreat check out the corresponding torrent and check.

hmm, if naka off yung auto preview kaya? pero likely it will do the same reboot dahil mukang pag open pa lang ng file, reboot na agad. if it doesnt reboot then it might have to do with how the file is encoded.

Pansin ko lang yun True Blood episode 2 and Teen Wolf 5 & 6 are all done by the group immerse. Baka meron sila ibang ginagawa sa encoding. I was splitting yun True Blood episode but after splitting the audio will be play out of synch parang bumagal yun audio basta meron kakaiba sa file na yun.

I will try to find the above files uploaded by the group "dimension" and see if the same thing occurs.Hi Martin ok lang ako. Seems you encountered this fairly recent I have 2 x 1.5tb of tv series materials and was doing randomly and can't find immense, go grab from eztv kaya ?
I love divx and mkv of just about anything I can get my hands on from eztv --- Dexter , no ordinary family , how I met, big bang so am surprised to here this concern.
I escalated your concern with e great but I'd advise you move to eztv.

I did check on that, but they were uploaded by three different people. I found the versions uploaded by dimesion and will see tomorrow if the same thing happens. :)
Iisa lang ang source nila even though uploaded by 3 different people uploaders lang sila hindi sila yun nagencode ng file. I saw meron dimension version yun episode 5 ng teen wolf and a web dl version (howl) for episode 6. True Blood episode 2 meron din web dl version (lulzsec).
Sana maayos yun ibang versions mahal kaya mag upgrade sa popcorn hour.
edit : just checked the comments on the lulzsec version of true blood 4x02 hindi daw maganda audio (malakas) and choppy video. It might play on the e-great pero not the best quality.
Don't worry brader...I don't have any intentions of switching NMT players. Egreat is still the best for me in terms of PQ and AQ. I will not give it up, unless I upgrade to a better Egreat model. So far, I am still very happy with the R200. ;)

Pasensya na I found this files (torrents and not direct download) sa isang private tracker na super strict sa ratio and unfortunately wala akong buffer sa tracker na ito. I was able to find Teen Wolf 105 (dimension) on a public tracker. I can send you the link for that if you want.

I am convince that there is something different with the "immerse" upload versions of a given file. I tried downloading other files that was uploaded by "immerse" and they all make the R200 reboot. Wierd talaga. :(

video suddenly stutters on 2 different Imax scenes:
at 1:02:30; when Prime was about to fall down after being stabbed by megatron
and at 01:54:10; When Devastator is currently merging
video just stutters and continue normally after that scene. weird.
This transformer file also stutters on my measy. when i checked those scenes, its video bitrate is 30mbps+. i had other files that stutters and when checked, they have 30mbps video bitrate also.
@ 30mpbs it will not stutter @ SATA speeds (R200).

This happened to me on Sherlock Holmes (copy came from Jim) and the other movie (IP Man - my own copy). Playing these movies from the internal hard drive.

Guys, yun last playback feature, kelan lang ba nawawala yun? Minsan napansin ko kahit fully off na yun unit, pag on and playback ko ng same movie, na-remember yun time where i stopped it. It's a pretty cool feature though and I just wanted to know yun consistency nun kelan lang meron at mawala.

I have a hard time tweaking the PQ of R200 and the TV itself(LG LD460). Can you guys give me some samples of your PQ settings on both your TV and R200? There are movies kase na sobrang liwanag on outside/sunshine scenes na almost di kita yung ibang images.tia.
yung megamind bro yung mga outside scenes yung mukha nung reporter medyo maliwanag eh.at yung black hawk down naman yung mga night scenes naman parang di mo na makita yung parts sa side nung TV, slightly madilim na talaga. i have my fixed settings for all movies kaya pag binago mo sila for that certain movie(megamind and BHD) eh affected naman PQ ng lahat.
settings ko sa TV:
50 brightness
85 contrast
50 backlight
R200:
21 brightness
41 contrast

Do you have BD ISO that's encoded with DTS MA and DD TrueHD? How about m2TS that is inside a BD structure that's also encoded with DTS MA or True HD. These are the files we need to test and not MKV's because these are the ones that's not sending 5.1 core to our receiver. The M2TS should be coming directly from BD's and not reencoded from other format..
I don't have any of the above files, but I can download one to test. :) What I will test on my end is the issue with the MKV files shared by "Immerse" :)

SF loaned me his unit so i can test the new FW, as my R200 is with my Mom's paired with a trusty ol Sony TV set.

Any new units from toys4geeks need not fuzz about this coz its preloaded with the latest firmware. R200 took a long while to get their GUI out but man, i tell ya... WOW!
As you are aware, FW is buyers risk but to share our service team upgrades them all with a UPS in tow.
If the firmware fails, we provide a service unit so customers wont come home empty handed.
Currently, egreat R200 fw is on controlled deployment only so those who got R200 from toys4geeks are supported.Its our way to say thanks for the biz, and taking care of our PDVD braders.

one thing i noticed if you change the skin to AC Ryan or Medea8ter is that the SCREEN/LED on your player will just be in BOOT all the time. it will not show the usual things when you are in Egreat mode like play time etc.
Mede8ter looks cool and jukebox seems easier to set-up. You just need the index.htm file in your hdd. Also, there will be an added Picture Settings like Tint and Hue.

Yeahhh its neat brader furry..... Havent tried to connect to the internet to test the others though...

I've only just browsed the new fw and it definitely looks better. Questions on the additional features though. I couldn't get the jukebox or youtube to work. It was saying something like service unavailable or something like that. It also says something like unable to play media in youtube. I was able to get the radio, picassa and weather to work. Weather would be more useful if it's possible to make Manila the default city. Pwede kaya?will ask.

The remote is wonderful. It's now the most expensive looking remote on my table haha! :)

@r200 users: do you guys experience this as well? if not, what are you doing properly for the issue not to happen.

Are you on the 3-in-1 v39 firmware or still at the v39 old firmware?
Only reason, after all services are down, is that there are other mapped drives that still keeps your disks in use, such that when the NMT shuts down, it leaves it in an open state and thus a filesystem check is necessary.
i already updated it to the 3in1 v39. so what can we do about this? what other ways can this NMT terminate all its services in order for it to shutdown properly?

How many network enabled devices do you have at home? i'd suspect there's one that accessing the service passively. or that the AV ondemand is scanning proactively mapped drives. I normally off on demand and exclude mkv files

only the laptop is wifi enabled. i really don't think that's the issue bro. the question is, why wouldn't this device shutdown properly and terminate any active jobs/services on its device upon shutdown?

i really think this is a big problem as all our HDDs lifespan will be affected. next thing you know, your hdd already had multiple bad sectors and that's the start of an HDD failure.

They tried duplicating your problem and cant find how you get your reported case.
They asked you try to:
a. as USB slave (internal drive), scandisk NMT drive for loose file/folder pointer
b. remove NMT from network (to isolate passive drive mounts/scan) and reboot
c. as NMT, watch video, stop, select other drive / USB, then power off (as sequenced)
d. repeat item a, if access to drive will prompt the error again.
meantime, i've asked if they can include a safe powerdown filesystem unmount check before pressing power. They have not yet replied on this suggestion.
I do think that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. they probably don't notice this yet.
Here's what I have:
1 80GB USB 2.5 in. external HDD connected to the USB port of the R200
1 2TB WD 3.5in. internal HDD connected to the SATA port
1 2TB WD 3.5in. internal HDD inside the NMT tray
I did all of these steps:

only the drive inside the tray was safely opened by Windows.

in below, if internal drives are not having scandisk prompt on windows, then is it safe to assume the internal drives unmount properly? yes, tried it several times and internal drive is not affected.
so in effect, only the external USB + bare sata is experiencing this scandisk prompt on windows.
A few inquiries on my end:
or does it manifest on power up, powerdown without playback? yes, it always happens on shutdown sequence.

Note: the only time the internal drive is also gonna be affected is after every File copy that I perform on the NMT itself and on that file copy the internal HDD is involved.
vortex1's problem happens to me as well. My external drives are being scanned by my desktop (running on win7) though it finds no errors.
would rollback to old firmware solve it? i'm under the impression that the 3-in-1 R200 (1073) firmware is the currently installed, and that the experience on the filesystem unmount concern for bare SATA and USB shows for both version .39 and .39 (3-in-1).
please confirm.

during bootup , at the upper left, it prompts when the disk is detected and mounted,
I'm also experiencing the same issue that Vortex and Sardaukar have. Even if I power down the HDD attached to the USB, it still gets scanned whenever I plug the HDD into my PC.
both FW are versioned 1.00.39.

boss jim ( yes natanong ko na ata to dati :D ), ayaw mag tuloy ng boot up ng R-200 ko :( minsan pag matagal hindi ginamit ok naman, tapos after one time use ayun ayaw na naman mag boot up.
pwede ba to ireset? firmware update? o paperweight na sya?

Sir jim i downloaded the file. In a fat 32 flash disk. Extracted it to the root.folder then plugged it in pero hindi sya nag auto rjn hindi sya nadetect. :(
