Any chance that Warner Philippines will release the 14-disc Collectors Superman? Sir Firewired and Randyv of PinoyDVD.biz, baka puwede maitanong so that kung meron hindi na ako kukuha ng R1. Thanks. :)
-
Yes they're releasing the 14-disc set. That's coming out on 28 November based on their last update.
-
Wow! 14-disc set! Something to look forward to this November.
Please keep us posted.
-
Now that's something to look forward to Dapat may preorder fanfare katulad ng Da Vinci Code, and I am sure mas maraming bibili nito kaysa Da Vinci Code, considering the subject matter. Tin box din sana... wow, wow. wow!
-
what's in the 14-disc set?

what's in the 14-disc set?
1-4: Superman: The Movie
5-6: Superman II
7: Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
8: Superman III
9: Superman IV: The Quest For Peace
10-11: Superman Returns
12: Look, Up In The Sky! - The Amazing Story of Superman (Documentary)

14: Bryan Singer's Superman Returns Video Journal (not included in the R3 version, only available on R1)

4 discs ang Superman The Movie?!? :o
-
They should have not included Supe 3 and 4. I can't help feeling the garbage spoiled an otherwise excellent timeless collection. ;D

You're right. If the sales estimates at BoxOfficeMojo.com are correct, the Philippines is one of the biggest markets for Superman Returns. It made almost $4.2 M here. The Da Vinci Code I think only managed to earn $1.8 M. For comparison, the Harry Potter movies typically earn $2-3 M here. Also, according to the SM IMAX manager, the Philippine IMAX theater had the biggest per theater average for Superman Returns IMAX. Proof that Superman is BIG in the Philippines and thus deserves an elaborate DVD release here!

What discourages me from availing any R3 boxed sets released by Warner locally is their packaging style, enclosing multiple amaray cases into one box as compared with R1's digipaks (e.g. Smallville series, Matrix Trilogy). If this will also be released in a tin casing, that would be great coz I'm still imagining on how would they fit multiple amaray cases into that tin packaging (given the artworks we're seeing now with other regions).
-
ganda pala ng packaging ng 14-disc set:

is this the official R3 pics?
-
No. I think that's the R1 Ultimate Collection set.
-
the pic's from amazon. will the R3 be the same as that of the R1?

its so tempting to get the ulitmate collection but from what I heard the the superman version of today is also a trilogy...imagine few years from now ilang disc set na yung 18-disc set??? better think twice baka nadadala lang tyo ng marketing campaign.
-
;D ;D ;D
Wow!! Wow!!! Grabe! 14 disc set. Panalo! I wonder how much kaya to?
thanks. ;)
-

Even if it's a trilogy...do you really wana wait 6-8years before you purchase a superman box set?
-
If ever, by the time, the new Trilogy is complete, DVD would probably be supercede by either HD_DVD or Blu-Ray. And with Superman Returns less than expected Box Office returns, Warner might not be as eager to green light any sequel...
What discourages me from availing any R3 boxed sets released by Warner locally is their packaging style, enclosing multiple amaray cases into one box as compared with R1's digipaks (e.g. Smallville series, Matrix Trilogy).
Depende naman. Some like the first wave of Band of Brothers comes in tin packaging. The new Rome - The Complete First Season also comes in Wooden package like R1. Hopefully, R3 will rival R1 on this set.
The devil's in the price... R1 (preorder is now discounted to around $70. So R3 would have to top that.
-
Yeah, hopefully it'll rival the R1 release...
-
I'll start a new thread for the Superman Ultimate Collection since that warrants discussion in itself. Looks like it'll mirror the R1 right down to the tin case -- BUT it looks like Bryan Singer's Video Journal is out of the R3 release so we're down to 13 discs. SRP is Php3,750 (vs. US$99 for the R1). Our local pre-order price is Php3,250 which is also lower than Amazon's US$70.
-
I'll start a new thread for the Superman Ultimate Collection
Done. ;D
BUT it looks like Bryan Singer's Video Journal is out of the R3 release so we're down to 13 discs.
Oh, crap. That's a deal breaker for me, a missing disc. Luckily I have a relative arriving from the States in December, so I can get the R1 set from Amazon shipped to her using FREE Super Saver Shipping, and not worry about taxes nor missing supplementary material.
Hopefully the pre-order price will still go down between now and November 28th. 8)
-
R3 for me. The price is reasonable. With Amazon's $70, hindi pa included shipping plus duties which given the weight of the package and the price (not to mention, Christmas is near) will surely attract the local custom attendant (kupit-llector).
The missing disc is not a deal breaker for me, as I want the movies more than the documentaries. Basta complete ang the other items - Comics etc. Okay na.
6 movies, two-documentaries, extra animated episodes. And Warner's excellent track record when it comes to packaging means no second thought about preordering (unlike Da Vinci Code LE).
In the US, there's a mail-in coupon for posters. If only Warner Philippines does the same.... Oh well, asking for the moon na siguro... :)
Thanks, Sir Firewired for the insider information...
-
Oh darn it...Yup me too! The missing disc will make me have second thoughts on purchasing the R3. i will always think na parang kulang.
Di naman pwede mag double dip at each set is already quite expensive.
-
Then it's a definite R1 for me then. Any reason why they did not include that last disc?
-
With Warner, dropped features usually point to licensing difficulties. Maybe Bryan Singer wanted additional royalties for his video journal.
-
A missing special feature is bad enough. Now its a missing disc??? ::)
-
Street date for this is on the 12th of November and pre-booking at PinoyDVD.biz starts sometime this week. Like firewired said earlier, you can purchase the collection at P3,250 if you pre-book, generating savings of P500 from the regular price of P3,750. Since it's above P3,000, free shipping already applies.
I was told by Warner that they will also sell the individual fims separately (except for the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2). But if you're intention is to collect the entire series, you'd be better off buying the collection rather each film separately since it's the cheaper alternative and you also get the Tin Box and collectible items.
-
I was told by Warner that they will also sell the individual fims separately (except for the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2).
So, it's confirmed that the Superman 2 Donner Cut will not come out as an individual release? Sayang naman -- 'yung pa naman ang hinihintay ko. Oh, well, may R1 naman. Mas mahal nga lang. :'(
-
Maybe it's the catch for them not selling the Donner Cut individually, so as for customers to avail of the tin set even if it lacks the 14th disc... ::)
-
Sana they have included the missing disc. Naka tin box din pala so this is good. Parang R1.
But since it relfects the R1 version exactly albeit the missing disc....di ba parang lumalabas na kulang nga? Ibahin na lang nila ang packaging ng konte para special ang dating and may collectability value and add some items na wala sa R1 to make up for the missing disc.
Most importantly the number of discs represents such an "UNLUCKY NUMBER!"
:P ;D
-
BUT it looks like Bryan Singer's Video Journal is out of the R3 release so we're down to 13 discs.
firewired, is this confirmed by Warner? Their official flyers for November 2006 releases are out, and the flyer says that this is a 14-disc set with collectible keepsake tin and a reproduction of comic book Superman issue #7.
A misprint?
(See? I'm still hoping against hope that I can buy a complete set locally... ;D)
-
Sana nga 14-disc, yung pic na nakapost sa pinoydvd.biz has 14 discs ;D
-
Pre-booking promo in pinoydvd.biz is now available.
Ultimate Superman Collector's Edition
Php 3,250.00 (Php 500 discount)
Superman Returns (Two-Disc Special Edition with Comic Book)
Php 550.00 (Php 100 discount)
Superman Returns (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Php 499.00 (Php 100 discount)
Purchase must be made by November 14 to avail of discount. ;D
-
13 disc lang yun pix eh...besides the description itself at pinoydvd.biz states that "The 13-disc set will be packaged in a collectible keepsake Tin which is shelf ready and holds the set inside packaging, along with a reproduction of the comic book Superman issue #7"
hmm.... will get the R1 na lang ;D
-
13 disc lang yun pix eh...
Hehe sinama ko yung nandun sa taas na nasa case ata yun ;D
Isip-isip if R1 o R3 ::)
-
Hehe sinama ko yung nandun sa taas na nasa case ata yun ;D
Actually, you're right, the 14th disc is the one that's still in the case, with the other 13 laid out in the foreground. That's a picture of the R1 set they're using. They had a similar discussion about whether the same picture had 13 or 14 discs at DVD Active. ;D
Just reiterating: The official Warner Philippines November 2006 Releases Flyer says it's a 14-Disc set. I have a feeling that's just a misprint, but I'm waiting for official confirmation.
-
Unfortunately, it's a misprint. :( We have the same flyer but received word to strike out the reference to the 14th disc. I had a brief chat with Warner's Marketing Manager yesterday and she confirmed that it was indeed a last minute rights issue and that contributed to all of the confusion.
The reason why the PinoyDVD.biz image shows the 14th disc is because that's actually one of the official photos that was issued to retailers. Here's the one that shows 13 discs:

I'm not sure kung ano yung pinagkaiba nung comics.
Sir firewired, randyv please help po for clarifications regarding this :D
-
meron din ba free poster when pre-order sa pinoybiz?
-
I think that the mail in poster is for U.S. residents only. Same as other mail in offers in Warner release DVD'S. But if the R3 has the same offer. I'll get the R3. But please not the local reprint. Yung orig double sided reprint like what they offer in the U.S.

Let's all hope someday R3 would be able to match all R1 offers and exclusives :D ::)

Do the new Deluxe releases of Superman's I-IV (the ones included in this set as well as the ones which will be sold separately) have an extended footage or remastered audio/video? Or just pure extras? The original movies are being sold individually now at P275 each, and if one is just after the movies, why spend more than double the amount or double dip just for the extras?
I might settle for Superman Returns na lang.
Another similar example for this is the Matrix Collection. You can actually complete the trilogy with less than P1000 (P275+350+350). How many of us have actually watched the extras in the P3500 worth Matrix Collection? Was it worth triple the amount?

well for one there is a tin case that comes with it. And all Superman now are in 5.1 not like the individual release or the 1st release which only Superman 1 have 5.1 audio and the 1st batch have dvd rot. And the new releases will be remastered. Not unlike the matrix set. Only the 1st matrix film was remastered. Since the 2 sequels naman are new naman so no need to remaster. Well for superman I think it's better to get the Whole set. I don't like superman 2 and 3 either. But I Got the whole release back then. The whole collection in snap case R1. But I'm still getting this one because of collectivity and for the remastered version of this release. All of us naman have preferences on which to get naman. The box set or individual release. So it's really up to you. :)

OK. I guess that sums it all. It may be a good buy after all. Akala ko kasi ni-repackage lang yung original discs. Thanks for the info.
-

Come to think of it, I think my Matrix Collection is actually still sealed! ;D

May pre-order na po ba ito sa mga Astro branches? I checked last Sunday wala pa sila. :( Thanks for any info.

Reserved a copy from Astro Glorietta yesterday. Reservation fee is P200. The store clerk said that it will come with a huge poster.
-
Poster of who? Reeve's or Routh's?
-
Not really sure but as I understand it, most likely Routh. More on promo kasi ng Superman Returns ito.

PinoyDVD.biz will be giving out stylish Superman metal dog tags packed in a neat metal case with a full color superman logo on top 8). The dog tags are imported and are not sold locally. I will post an image here once available. Note that this offer is exclusive to .Biz.
But wait, there's a catch ;). The dog tags are in "very" limited quantities. Since we cannot accommodate all pre-bookings, the offer is on a first purchase/first served basis. Figuratively, the early bird catches the worm. In addition, the offer is exclusive to Superman: The Ultimate Collection buyers only. As much as we would like to give everybody the freebie, there's really less to go around with.
-
nice! when can we start purchasing the ultimate collector's set?
-
If the planned street date is as scheduled on 14 November 2006, then selling at .Biz officially starts on 13 November 2006, Monday, at 12:01 AM :). This will allow the .Biz buyers to receive the DVDs on the same day as the physical store buyers. ;)
-
Randy showed me the dog tags earlier... NICE.

Any estimated quantities for the dog tags? :)
-
i guess i should stay awake on nov. 12 to be one of the first to make the purchase ;D
-
Maybe the tags should be reserved on a 'first-reserve, first serve' basis, which seems fairer to the prebooking campaign, and sale could commence say a couple of days before launch (DVD will still be ship the day-prior to launch and arrive hopefully on launch day as before). And that reservations should be converted to sales TWO days before launch, if not then it will be released to other buyers on the day before launch. That's seems more in the spirit of the prebooking campaign. Just my two cents...

I think that's the system they used for Poseidon 2disc. The whistle thingy was reserved for those who prebooked first.
-
As promised, below is an image of the stylish Superman metal dog tags referred to earlier. The dog tags image is an exact match of the actual products but I can’t say the same for the case. The top Superman logo should look like Routh’s Superman costume. 8)
As for techdude’s suggestion, we will consider this again in future pre-booking promos. When we were told the the freebies were in very limited quantities, we only came up with two immediate alternatives. The first one was a raffle type promo and the other one, which eventually won, was the first buyers promo. The swing vote for the latter was that it allowed the “winner” to receive the freebie on the same day as his/her order. ;)
-
Looks like there will be a mad dash for the PinoyDVD website 12:00:01AM on the 12th of this month. :) To me, this is certainly better than a poster...
-

Correction lang techdude. Its actually 12:01 AM on the 13th and not on the 12th of November. Premeditated ba ang error? ;D
-
Randyv, around how many are the dog tags?
-

Since there is no reservation fee in .Biz (unlike in Astro stores), I think this suggestion of "first-reserve, first serve" basis is quite unfair. Anyone can simply reserve even those without intentions to really buy. Tama na yung first-buy first-serve basis ni randy.
-
My suggestion is that first reserve, first serve is that it would spur reservations, and that these will have to be turned into sales in one day (hence the two day advance sale unlike the present day before launch). If not, then reservation would be cancelled and probably prevented from availing of future sale promos. But it's up to PinoyDVD to decide what way they think is best for all concerned.
As to number of dog tags, my guess is that it's a trade secret and best for PinoyDVD to keep it close to their chest. :)
And on my posting of November 12, maybe I got my dates mixed up, thanks for correcting me, or else, I would be waiting the whole early morning of the 12th for PinoyDVD to start accepting sales of the Ultimate edition. :D
-
hindi kaya magcrash ang server ng .biz come 12:01AM of Nov. 13? ;D
-
I guess it's a good time as any to test our servers ;D. But seriously, the specs of our US servers are really designed to handle a huge number of simultaneous transactions. ;)
-
Just made my reservation yesterday in Astro Glorietta. I don't have account yet with pinoydvd.biz so it's a little dissapointing that I would not get the dog tag. Are there any freebies if we reserve thru Astro? Wala kasing indication dun da poster nila eh.
-
It's easy to create an account, all you need is a valid email address. You don't even need to have a credit/Megalink card as PinoyDVD now accept bank deposit as payment.
-
I have some bit of good news regarding the .Biz promo. If you are not one of the first few buyers to get the Superman Dog Tags, you might be one of the remaining ones to get the Superman Pewter Key Tag. 8) It’s also made of metal and fully imported as well. Quantities are limited, so first purchase/first served still applies.
-
Wooaaahh! Nice ;D Way better than a poster :D
Sir Randy, just a suggestion, I think the buyers should get the option of which to get until supplies last. So para rin siyang limited stocks na sign dun during checkout and if wala na may out of stock na sign.
Para alam din nung buyer if he was indeed able to get the freebie. Baka kasi akala mo isa ka sa nauna tapos yun pala wala ka ng naabutan (wag sana...) ;D
What do you guys think?
-
;D ;D ;D
So unahan pa rin pala sa pagbayad? What if yung dun sa mga magdeposit sa bank? What if kung nov. 10 pa lang magdeposit na sa bank for the Ultimate Collection? Di ba una ka na nun? Sure na makakuha ka nung dog tag or key chain? hmmmm... ;)
-
Nice keychain. Better than the dogtags.
-
Whens the release date Nov. 13 ba?
-
;D ;D ;D
According to Mr. randyv, maging available to buyer online and offline yung set on the 14th pa. Sa 13th, you can start your purchasing na. so sa 14th you will get it na sabay nung sa offline buyers.
hope this helps.
-
Again, if you're curious about this set, drop by the Nov Hi-Fi Show, Mandarin Hotel. We're on the 6F, Room 620. The sample arrived just before closing time but some members were still around so we spent some time examining it.
-
;D ;D ;D
Firewired,
any actual pics to be posted here?
thanks.
-
PinoyDVD has started selling this set. Ordered mine just now...
Are we (Pinoys) the first to get our hands on this set? Kailan ba release sa other territories (ie R3 Hongkong, R2 Japan, etc). We are getting this two weeks ahead of the Americans. :)
-
Same here ;D Excited na ako ;D
-
Ordered mine around 30min ago 8)

R2 UK: December 4
R2 Germany: December 15
R4 Australia: December 6
R3 Hong Kong: November 14 (But I'll bet HMV has it already. They often break release dates there, or at least they used to.)
-
Took some pictures this morning of the set that we were showing off during the Hi-Fi Show event. Like I mentioned in another post, it's pretty impressive.
If you're using a CRT monitor, you may have to adjust contrast and brightness. I edited the files on my laptop so the images are tweaked for LCD displays.

It's worth it! Definitely superb!!!
-
Nakakalaway naman ang ultimate collection. Too bad that I have to budget my money and have to settle with the 2-disc Superman Returns (with comic book). Siguro, kung makaluwag sa pera in the future at meron pang available ultimate collection, makakabili rin ako.
-
Tonight I'll do a comparison between my old Superman R1 flipper disc and this new remastered version. Was able to briefly browse the film this morning and the print seems cleaner and the colors more vivid.
-
Hi. When do online pinoybiz buyers expect their orders to arrive? Tnx
-
;D ;D ;D
Grabe ang ganda nung Ultimate Collection. Can't wait for my copy!!! ;)
hubes,
according to randyv. bukas makuha ng mga online buyers yung copies nila if they were able to pay for it today. same date as the street release.
hope this helps.

Wow! Thanks for posting the pics. Although I preordered this at Astrovision, I was still having second thoughts on purchasing it when it arrives (I asked if is is possible to use the 200 peso reservation fee on another purchase in case I'm not satisfied with the R3 Ultimate Collection release, which they said I can), because of the lack of the 14th disc and uncertainty over the quality of the packaging (remember the local Batman Anthology?). Thanks to these pictures, I'm already looking forward to getting my copy tomorrow!
-
For me, I'm dying to pick this up from Astro tomorrow, but I'm still wrestling with the idea of the missing 14th disc.
Do I really need Bryan Singer's Video Diary? I mean, I bought Peter Jackson's King Kong Production Diaries, watched half of one disc, got bored, then fast forwarded through the rest of it. I never even played the Post-Production Diaries in the 2-Disc Set of King Kong.
But I've been a Superman fanatic since I was a kid, so everytime I look at that tin box set on my shelf, it'll be taunting me:
"Kulang ako! Kulang ako! Bili ka ng R1! Bili ka ng R1!"
Man, DVD addiction is a bad thing.
;D

I'm getting both R1 & R3. Baka next year pa makauwi relatives from the states so I'm getting the R3 for the meantime. Looks excellent naman!
;D
-
Just by looking at the pics, walang-wala na kong pagsisisi. Better than any box sets released in the Philippines yata to. Worth the P3250.
-
Nice looking set...made my pre-order the other day. But like some of us here, I'm still thinking of getting the R1 at least to get the complete set. Oh well, will probably get both anyway. Thanks for the pix sir firewired. ;)
-
Sir firewired or anyone who knows this, may idea po ba kayo ano pa difference with the R1 and R3 aside from the Bryan Singer Journal? kasi if yun lang talaga baka di na ako kumuha ng R1 ;D
-
:o WOW! That is a bautiful set, thinking about ordering but still can't afford it anyways...for the meantime. Sana may copies pa on Christmas! :D
Thanks Sir Firewired for the pics :)
-
Saw the sealed actual product along with the Superman Returns 2-Disc w/ Comic Book a while ago at Astroplus Podium. Not bad, indeed. ;D
By the way, it's not a comic book that's bundled with Superman Returns but rather, a condensed Ultimate Guide to Superman from DK Publishing. Comes with a shiny silver-foil cover. ;D
-
Do I really need Bryan Singer's Video Diary?
Man, DVD addiction is a bad thing.
That's the point. 90% of the time, I don't even watch the commentaries/deleted scenes that comes with other DVDs. I rather watch the movie again a second time or another movie entirely unless it really really awesome.
So I decided to get the R3 over R1. The Astro gals are hounding me to preorder it, didn't tell them I got it online. :)
I was expecting this to be a long Digipack inside a tin (like Band of Brothers tin). But it looks like a flipper inside the tin... really neat. And well worth the price.
DVD addiction is really a disease. My stack is filing up as well. Keep thinking what would happen to them in ten years like my CD collection which I ripped to my ipod and is now gathering dust and storage space... Ooops, off topic.
Can't wait to get mine as well. Will be looking to the Air21 van tomorrow...
-
I caved. I cancelled my Amazon order, since my relative sent an email today telling me she postponed her trip to next MARCH, so I figured it was a sign. ;D
Sir firewired or anyone who knows this, may idea po ba kayo ano pa difference with the R1 and R3 aside from the Bryan Singer Journal?
Yup, the Bryan Singer Video Journal disc, PLUS the mail-in offer for 5 Superman posters are missing. Other than that, the sets seem identical. I'm actually wondering if the actual discs are the same, since the cardboard around the package has MPAA ratings from the movies, and the language tracks for Superman 1-4 are English, Spanish and Portuguese - not Asian.
It's a beautiful set - tin case na, may plastic slipcase with lenticular image pa... may Php 25 discount for purchase of Ant Bully DVD pa!
-
Took some pictures this morning of the set that we were showing off during the Hi-Fi Show event. Like I mentioned in another post, it's pretty impressive.
If you're using a CRT monitor, you may have to adjust contrast and brightness. I edited the files on my laptop so the images are tweaked for LCD displays.

OT: Why does Superman on the comic book cover look like Dave Batista? :)
-
I just saw a huge Superman poster yesterday at Astro Glorietta. I read in this thread that Astro reservations for the Ultimate Boxed Set comes with the poster. I hope it's true.
-
The sales rep at Astro Glorietta told me that the poster displayed outside is the poster for the UE. :)
-
We watched the Donner Cut of Superman II last night and enjoyed it. It's better than Richard Lester's version in most places though its has its share of weak moments IMHO. I love the fact that they brought the Brando sequences back since Jor-El plays a pivotal role in explaining the consequences of Kal-El's choices.
My only gripe is that this cut was assembled from found elements so certain sequences aren't in great shape. The new flashback at the start of the film uses alternate shots from Superman the Movie but these are grainy with some artifacting in the Krypton portions. Also, Donner insisted that certain scenes be reconstructed from test/rehearsal shots so you'll notice wardrobe and hairstyle inconsistencies.
Overall, these are minor quibbles in what is already being hailed as the definitive version of Superman II.

YESSS!!! I'll get my copy later. I hope there's no "dissapointing suprises". Thanks.

firewired, is that the comic book that came with your Ultimate Edition? It's different from mine. Yours matches comic book in the images of the R4 posted at ezydvd.com.au, while mine matches the one in the R1 picture at Amazon.

Since ours are different - the included comics throughout the region don't match?
-
I'll say I'm a bit envious of those who already has this set. Me, I still have to wait few more weeks before the R1 is released.
Just curious though, since this is a 13-disc set, how is the digipak designed? I mean, how are discs stacked inside? Are discs on back-to-back position? If yes, is there a blank slot left that is supposed to be for the 14th disc?
-
just got my copy via pinoydvd.biz.
great packaging, kaso the rear of the tin case has several dents in it. plus, my insert booklet has a tear.
can this be remedied, sir randy? i'd like a replacement sana.
-

The discs are back-to-back. Although there is no central hub to anchor a disc, it's fairly obvious that the package was designed to hold one more disc on the very last page of the "book." (And now I'm having a few regrets about my decision to buy the R3 instead of the R1).
Although - the included featurettes on The Making of Superman Returns already run three hours. How much more of "The Making" can you take with the additional diaries?
(Rationalization.) ;D
-
;D ;D ;D
My package arrived this morning.
Tin can is in good condition. No dents whatsoever. Dun lang sa loob merong slight scratches sa edges yung cardboard holding the DVDs. pero was able to fix it. dinaanan ko lang ng pencil to smoothen the edges.
The DVDs are in good condition, no scratches whatsoever. MEdyo dusty lang ng konti.
Was able to get the dog tag.
I have the same comics as the one posted by firewired.
Medyo mahirap lang tanggalin yung DVD dun sa case nya kasi hindi masyadong lumulubog yung middle part nung casing.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my first order sa PinoyDVD.biz. No hassle in going to the stores na. hehehe.
More power to PinoyDVD.biz!
Many thanks.

Thank you very much Mr. Hankey.
-
Wrath, spoke with Randy and he'll get in touch with you over e-mail.
Mr. Hankey, apparently the the standard comic book is the one that came with your box. The variant, limited R4 version shouldn't be part of the Philippine R3 release, but copies may have been inadvertantly placed in some boxes.
-
Got mine too. Small dents on the cover, a bit annoying so I take the sticker off the shrinkwrap and covered the dents. Now I don't even know it's there.
Getting the disc to dislodge is really a problem. I had to press hard on the disc and literally pry it to get it loose.
I hate these type of digipack where there's sort of some blemishes (it's on the top of each double layer case), if you rotate the disc inside the case (like aligning it), it could sometimes scratch the disc. I learned the hard way with my Hossiers DVD, where I keep wondering where the deep scratches come from until I realize they are in the same area as the imperfection. :(
All in all, well worth the price. Not for the casual DVD fan (because of the huge cash-out), but one of the best R3 release ever.
Iba talaga ang Warner, talagang classy ang dating - tin, comics, packaging.
Mr. Hankey, so alam yata na gusto mo ng R1, so they include the R1 comics for you. So even more collector's 'yun sa iyo...
is there a blank slot left that is supposed to be for the 14th disc?
Yes and no, since each digipack can hold 2-discs back-to-back, then 14 disc could've easily fit without additional digipack. But the last one is single sided, so thirteen lang talaga for this edition...
-

All 12 discs are stored back to back. Th 13th disc has a lone slot not back to back.
-
got my copy today...all i can say is "Good Job Warner"!
this is really worth the wait even if it's the r3 release. ;D
-
friend of mine also got his copy, but had 2 small dents in the front. I dont know if it was packed with bubblewrap, but i suggest they should double the bubblewrap next time para maiwasan yun dents ;)
But overall im very much impressed with the set... hmmmm..... bibili na ba ako? ??? ??? esep esep
-
mine is same as firewired. I think mas correct yun comic book mo mr. hankey bec. its the same picture as the one in the cardboard slipcase.

Thanks for the replies on the comic book, people. So far, it looks like I'm the only one to get this one:

Getting the disc to dislodge is really a problem. I had to press hard on the disc and literally pry it to get it loose.
I actually thought one of my discs was going to break in half when I was pulling on one edge. I had to stop and rethink my game plan when it comes to removing the discs from the hubs for viewing. ;D
Also... did you guys compare the disc order in the case with the way the set is numbered in the newspaper-type booklet? Mine was not in the correct order - there were four discs in the wrong slots.
I know, not a "problem"... I just noticed it, since it forced me to pry four more discs from their hubs immediately. ;D
-
Haven't noticed but I'll check tonight.
As per Warner, could be a batch thing so part of the .biz allocation are all variant comics. Does yours have the cover gallery section?
-
received my copy this afternoon. no scratches on the tin box. same comic book as what firewired posted.
now, i'm having a problem on removing the discs. the discs are bending already at around 20degrees but i still can't remove it from the tray >:(
-
...difficulty removing the discs, hoping it won't be the same when R1 comes.
-
kailangan angatin yung particular DVD holder and then press the center. dun medyo mas madaling tanggalin yung DVD. pero mahirap pa rin tanggalin yung sa likod na DVDs.
Watched Superman IV and didn't remember much of the scenes. Nakakatawa lang yung scene ni Nuclear man and Mariel Hemingway sa space, hindi pumutok si Mariel while in space. hehehe. Di ba naisip ng director yun na imposible yun?
No wonder there are members who doesn't like the third and fourth installments...
Enjoy! ;)
-
Got mine from Astro Galleria with free poster, raffle ticket for more superman items & a discount coupon for Ant Bully. No dents & scratches on the tin box. But when I opened it at home, the insert booklet has a small tear on the lower left corner of the first page...called astro at once to exchange it with another stock... they said they have to consult Warner kung may extra booklet and they can't give me another stock kasi exact lang daw sa mga nag pre-book yung allocated sa Astro Galleria branch and that according to Warner limited lang daw itong ultimate collection...is this true sir firewired?
Anyway i got the same comic book as Mr. Hankey...and i too am having difficulty in removing the discs...
-
Got mine today at Astro Glorietta and it was all worth it! Thanks to the early postings, I was careful in removing the discs. Inangat ko nga rin iyong holder and pressed the center ring without holding the disc. delikado nga lang mascratch iyong discs pag biglang mahulog. This is probably the best looking box set I got. Mas maganda pa siya sa LOTR Extended set although mas gusto ko pa rin siyempre iyong LOTR movies themselves. I also bought the Superman Returns 2-disc and I also like the comic book that goes with it. Magkaiba pala iyong discs ng Supe Returns 2-disc compared sa doon sa UC. Mas maganda iyong sa UC.
-
Saw the UE set at SM Clark. The packaging looks nice. Though di ko muna bibilin... sa christmas na lang... kung meorn pa. Hehe ;D
-

Yes the allocations are limited but I talked to Warner and they should be able to replace the damaged booklet -- but you may have to go direct. I'll find out tomorrow and send you a PM.

As per Warner, could be a batch thing so part of the .biz allocation are all variant comics. Does yours have the cover gallery section?
Yeah, the last few pages of the comic book are cover gallery artworks, BUT what's glaring is that the DVDs they're advertising on the inner/outer back cover are actually JUNE 2006 releases, making me think this comic book was designed as a tie-in for the theatrical release of Superman Returns and NOT the DVD release.
-
IMHO, The Book that comes with Superman Returns is way better than the comics/comic book artwork of the Ultimate Edition. The one with Superman Returns is not really a comics but a mini-encyclopedia of Superman trivia condensed from the DK line( ie How Things work, etc) of books. At the back, it is printed $7.99 But not for individual resale (huh?). I really wished this was the book that was included with the Ultimate Collector's since it would be more appropriate.
-
Are there any differences between the Superman Returns included in the UE and the 2 disc special edition in terms of DVD content or pareho lang sila? Mas maganda pala yung free comic book nung special ed. But I guess it's ok since I got a big ass Supeman poster from astro glorietta. Magandang itabi dun sa Spider man 2 poster ko w/c I got from the Spider man 2 deluxe edition. Remember that promo 2 years ago? :)
-
Guys question, if the R3 Superman: The Ultimate Collection is a 13 Disc Set and the R1 version is a 14 Disc set, then what part of the R1 disc are we missing?
-
It was noted earlier in this thread:
The missing disc is the Video Diary of Brian Singer
-
It was noted earlier in this thread:

Yes, I know that. But I was talking about Superman Returns. Is the 2 disc special edition the same as the one included in the UC?
-
I'll be getting the R1 version, too. I hope the DVD holders aren't as.....uhm.....challenging as the R3 release. Overall, excellent release. ;D
By the way, does anybody here know if the R1 version also has the innner lenticular slipcase? :)
-
koolkat, I was referring to kertner's question.
The DVD are not as challenging to pry loose as first thought. I had my forefinger on the 10' O clock slot, and thumb on the center, press the center hard, lift the forefinger a little and the disc comes loose. Still not as easy as most cases.
As to R1, the artwork posted on sites like DVDactive doesn't look lenticular to me. But since the final product is still to be released, and no review of said collection has shown up yet, guess we'll have to wait a little while to find out...
-
Yes, I know that. But I was talking about Superman Returns. Is the 2 disc special edition the same as the one included in the UC?
Considering even the Easter Egg posted by Ashburndaride on the Superman Returns R3 thread is also in the version in the boxed set, I believe so. The listed features of the stand-alone Superman Returns based on online sources are all present on my discs in the boxed set.
The disc art might be different, though. The disc art of the boxed set is a uniform design. I can personally confirm that the disc art for Look Up in the Sky! in the boxed set is different from that of this title's stand alone version.
-
Bought the 2-Disc at Astro MOA yesterday evening. They have the opened UE and the lady at the counter let me see it. All i can say is, its d**n good, best R3 packaging i ever saw! I was tempted to buy it but im on a tight budget. :'(
I asked the lady why its opened (coz i thought maybe that copy has defect or something and someone returned it), they said they let customer see whats inside the package, eh talaga naman mapapabili ka pag nakita mo. ;D They also said that 8 customers already bought UE on that same day. :o
Watched it last night and I noticed that the picture quality is grainy. :(
-
wow! I just got my copy from PDVDBIZ. It took the entire process, from order to delivery, LESS than 24 hours...beat that!
Geez! That was fast. Good work guys.
Anyway, I'm still in the process of checking the CDs coz it's really hard to remove. I might break either the cd or the case...damn.
The entire package is worth the price. Though the tin case that I got has a dent on the lower left corner, which I'll try to fix when I get home (PDR hehe).
I see that I have the same copy of comic book as Mr Hankey...hmm.
-
if you're really a die-hard fan ni supe's i think you can download bryan singer's video diary if this was the one they were trying to play sa IMAX theater(sa lobby) i mean. i had subscribed before sa itunes and it was free then when i was transferring it to my ipod.
;D

i ordered mine via pinoydvd.biz, and was sent a confirmation email nov 13 in the morning with my air21 tracking number.
upon reading my email, i quickly rushed and tracked my order via air21 website (there's something about tracking which i really enjoy). Much to my surprise, Air21's website posted an erroneous message....something about not in the database or something. I quickly sent a email to pinoydvd.biz support and reported it. pinoydvd.biz was quick to inform me re the status (my heartfelt appreciation), and assured me that the item will be long delivered to me even before air21 would be able to place the tracking number in their records. ???
support for pinoydvd.biz is superb. I wouldnt hesitate to get specials on them again. I highly recommend the site. If pinoydvd would get all the exclusives plus more bonuses that retail shops, consider all my dvd purchases to pinoydvd. Totally Great!
And true enough, I got the Superman UE yesterday Nov14. Its totally awesome!! Very much my hard earned money's worth. And the discount was well worth it. the quality is one of the highest ever. I even liked this more than my other R1 boxset releases. 5/5 stars!
Last night I watched the Donner Cut, and I was impressed. I totally loved this version. It creates much more continuity towards Superman Returns. Its not perfect, but much definitely better than the theatrical release of S2. I dont want to post my opinion on certain scenes because it might spoil the movie. but overall, i rate it 4/5.
-
Btw, due to shipping concerns, Randy said that since yesterday morning, they've tripled the bubble wrap protection layer to avoid damage to the tin case.
-
It helps when removing those hard to remove discs to remove first the disc at the back of the holder. In my case, the discs at the backs of each holder are easier to pry just by pressing the center ring. Once those are removed, mas madali na ring matanggal iyong nasa unahan by also pressing the center ring. At least, that's in my case so hopefully, it's the same with the others. :) The more I looked at my UC, the more I like it. Mas maganda nga compared sa ibang R1 box sets.
-
i'd also like to bring up another concern regarding the Superman UCE set which i had returned to pinoydvd.biz.
apart from the dents on the casing and the tear on the insert, upon opening the item, i noticed that there were several fingerprints INSIDE the tin case, on the plastic slipcase, despite its being shrinkwrapped.
something the Biz might want to look into.
-
wrAth,
fortunately walang traces of fingerprints on my copy.
I hope you get a good copy next time!
MOre power!

ya thats what I also notice and did, everything is perfect except "removing the disc", I cant believe its this hard, I was already bending the disc at first till I did the same thing, using the rear
-
Had no trouble with removing the discs. I just press on the center ring and presto! But since it's new and medyo masikip pa yung inner ring portion nung disc, can't help but worry that the glass will be chipped whenever I remove the disc
-
For those having a hard time removing the DVD's from their holders, you could try pressing the center ring using your two thumbs with each forefinger on the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions respectively. I got a hint from techdude's post and tried this style. I found the DVD's easier to remove. ;D
-
But when I opened it at home, the insert booklet has a small tear on the lower left corner of the first page...c
Got my replacement booklet from astro galleria today :)
-
is there anyone here that did not push through with their pre-order?
can i just buy your slot? ;D i'll give back your 200 reservation fee.
-
guys, sa mga nakabili na, can anyone confirm if this is true? Excited na kasi ako to buy this set... Thanks!
Disc error in "Superman: The Ultimate Collection" Box Set - Some copies of "Superman: The Ultimate Collection," possibly all of them, are being shipped with the wrong version of the Superman III disc. Instead of the "Deluxe Edition" said to be included, reports are coming in that the set is coming (likely through an error) with a copy of the old 2001 barebones "Superman III" DVD.
-
Note that error occured in R1 not the local R3...
-
to add (from dvdactive):
Title: Super Blunder
Starring: Christopher Reeve
Released: 28th November 2006
SRP: $99.92
Further Details:
Those of you who have pre-ordered copies of Warner Home Video's forthcoming Superman: Ultimate Collector's Edition might want to think twice. Due to a massive technical blunder, the Superman III: Deluxe Edition discs contain the original 2001 release of the film, rather than the advertised disc with commentary, additional scenes and a vintage featurette.
Reports indicate that The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection and the individual release of Superman III: Deluxe Edition are unaffected. At this time there has been no word on whether or not Warner intend to issue replacement discs. Even if replacement discs are made available, non-US residents who purchased the set will most likely be left out in the cold. When you combine this with the fact that the advertised original 1978 Dolby Stereo soundtrack for Superman: The Movie is also missing, what could have been the year's best release becomes a less than attractive proposition...
-
here's some more from superman homepage, dang and I just bought a set yesterday :(
While we're still awaiting official word from Warner Home Video regarding this, I thought it necessary to report on this now...
Apparently there are a few problems with the "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman III" DVDs being released tomorrow. From what I understand, there are two distinct errors...
The "Superman III" DVD is nothing more than the standard disc released in the 2001 release, and does not include the bonus material as advertised.
The theatrical version of "Superman: The Movie" does not contain the 1978 English 5.1 audio track as promised, but defaults to French or German (depending on region). The English 2.0 track is the 2001 mix.
The "Superman: The Movie" problems affect the 4-disc "Superman: The Movie" release, the 8-disc "Christopher Reeve Superman Collection" and the 14-disc "Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition" DVD set. While the "Superman III" problem affects the individual "Superman III: Deluxe Edition" as well as the 8-disc and 14-disc sets.
To our knowledge the audio errors with theatrical "Superman: The Movie" DVD are on all region releases, where the "Superman III" error only affects some regions (apparently the Region 2 release is fine).
We have contacted Warner Home Video about these problems and hope to have an official response from them soon regarding what (if anything) they plan to do about these problems.
Also, just to give you guys some heads up, I bought a set yesterday. The carton casing that holds all the DVDs has scratches on the box. Thinking that I just got a bad set, I went back to "O" Greenbelt 1 this afternoon. I asked for a replacement, so they opened another set, and while this other one has much less scratches on the box, when I opened it, it had a pretty big wrinkled section on the middle part. So I asked them to open up the last set that they had, and again, there were scratches on the box, and a noticeable dent on the edge of the carton.
So I settled back with my original purchase and left. Anyway, this is a great set and all, but I think aside from the DVDs, the carton cases and prints were probably made here locally, which explains the not so very nice quality on the casing. Oh, and this goes the same with the tin cases, all 3 were sealed, but all 3 when opened, had scratches all over. Don't know if this is the same with R1 releases. Can anyone confirm?
As for the disc errors, I haven't checked it yet, can anyone confirm if there really is a problem with the Superman 1 and 3 versions? Thanks.

Guys, from the posts above and in the other Superman threads, there seems to be some confusion here about the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition boxed set because of the errors reported in the R1 version due out in the States this Tuesday.
To clarify things:
The error in the version of Superman III provided with the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition boxed set ONLY occurs in the Region 1 version. The Region 3 set has the CORRECT Superman III version included.
As for the Audio Mix of the theatrical cut of Superman: The Movie, I just checked this now, and the R3 contains the DD 5.1 Audio Track supposedly missing from the R1 version of the set.
-
Thanks Mr. Hankey, was about to post as well.
Regarding the digi-pack casing and printed materials, Warner communicated to us that these are all imported. The only thing that was done locally was assembly and shrink wrapping. Any superficial scratches may have happened during transport from the factory or in the warehouse itself. They'll investigate.
-
Thanks Mr. Hankey for clarifying the disc problems...now I'm glad I bought an R3 set.
Thanks Firewired as well for clarifying with Warners about the scratches. I was pretty discouraged when I saw 3 sealed and new sets being opened and all had either scratches, wrinkles, or dents on the carton casing. All 3 tin cases also had scratches, so I settled with the one with the least, but, it's pretty discouraging to shell out 3750 for a collector's set but has all these scratches and stuff. Hope the next batches would be better :)

Now this makes me happy. Im glad I bought R3 when in fact I was thinking of getting the R1.

Our acquisitions would've been perfect if the 14th disc were included. Such a shame. ;D
-
Thanks Mr. Hankey for clarifying the disc problems...now I'm glad I bought an R3 set.
You're welcome. So am I! I actually cancelled my R1 pre-order due to a change in the itinerary of the person who was going to handcarry it from the States for me. I knew that change was a sign! ;D
here's some more from superman homepage, dang and I just bought a set yesterday :(
While we're still awaiting official word from Warner Home Video regarding this, I thought it necessary to report on this now...
If you check that news report at the supermanhomepage.com, you'll see it has been amended to include a correction from a moderator of Pinoy DVD. ;)

To clarify things:
The error
As for the Audio Mix of the theatrical cut of Superman: The Movie, I just checked this now, and the R3 contains the DD 5.1 Audio Track supposedly missing from the R1 version of the set.
After reading the review on the Digital Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/reviews3/spinsheet112706.html#sup), it seems that the track that was missing from the R1 was the 1979 stereo (now a DD 2.0) track, not the DD 5.1 track, which will be restored on replacement discs.
Can you confirm whether or not the R3 has the correct DD 2.0 track?

No, the R3 does not contain an English DD 2.0 track.
So... may kulang din pala.
But will you guys really listen to that track instead of the 5.1? ::)
-
I'm glad I bought the R3 version of this set but I just wanted to know why the SUPERMAN III and IV audio of this release are not in DD 5.1? I got so frustrated when I checked and both discs only have the 2.0 track.
Please explain :(
-
Who knows? Maybe Warner didn't see the need to spend for a 5.1 remix considering that both films were box office and critical duds.
-
thanks firewired!
that's what I thought of too but It's nice to see also if both are in 5.1. ;D

I dunno. Is the included 5.1 track a remix of the 1979 audio, or is it 2001-recorded 5.1 track with the much-criticized "new" sound effects?
-
Guys,
I know everyone who bought the r3 release (including me) was really satisfied with this, I actually held my breath when I saw the thread that the r1 release had some errors especially on the Superman III copy.
That's why everytime there's any r1 release I make sure that I check first the r3 release kasi baka mangyari na naman yung ganito, baka manghinayang lang ako...
what do you think guys?
-
finally got my pre-ordered copy...well worth the wait. ;) in perfect condition plus poster. ;)
Conrats to all who got this... ;D

from AMAZON.COM
Customer notice: Warner Home Video has discovered that bonus content was inadvertently omitted from the Superman III Deluxe Edition contained within some of the 14-disc Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition gift boxes. Also, disc 1 of Superman: The Movie in the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition was produced with Dolby Surround 5.1 but inadvertently did not include the original 1978 Dolby 2.0 stereo surround sound mix. Please note that these discs are still playable and not defective. If you need to replace your discs, please call 1-800-553-6937 and replacement discs will be made available at no cost to you
Will ASTROPLUS will also change the discs we bought from them for these things? Haven't checked it yet but think should also be the same as what happened to REGION 1 Editions.
Thanks
-
just read previous posts and R3 not affected by what happend with R!. Thanks for the clarification...

Chanced upon a sale last weekend March 22, 2008 at Astro SM North EDSA and I bought one for just P2500.00 (regular price P3750). Dunno kung kailan pa nag-slash ng price for this collection pero according to Astro, until March 31 na lang daw. Even the other boxsets like Troy, Ben-Hur, etc. are included in the sale.
-
i bought this last friday from the sale event from festival mall. any of you had a problem on the first disc? freezing starts at chapter 20 & 68:20 mins & so on. pansin ko may swirl marks. not really scratches, pero parang swirl marks sa loob ng disc itself.
anybody had the same experience? were you able to easily replace it from astro? thanks

yup bro same problem din sa disc1. pero aware ako since nasabihan ako na may prblema nga dun sa 1st disc. kinuha ko parin since lahat ng nilabas dito eh ganyan talaga. no replacement is advised. dapat nasabihan ka nung store rep since they were obliged to say it to any customer na mag inquire.

I checked my copy yesterday, and yup, Swirls around like a fungal infection (DVD Rot?) and could not go beyond chapter 26.(Superman take Lois Lane to fly). :'(
I bought this last December 13,2007 via online order with PinoyDVDBiz.com and not with the recent sale.
Help...please tell us what to do, hopefully Warner will replace this, since, what good is the collection if one disc's defective? :P
Paging Randy or Dave, kindly tell us what to do. :-[
-
Exactly the same problem, grabe yung itsura nung disc! I bought this at full price during initial release. What is this, a production error? Weird!
Paging Warner: After years of loyal patronage, this is one issue you should address.
-
Oh my!!! Mine too!!! :o >:( ???

Paging Warner: After years of loyal patronage, this is one issue you should address.
Dapat lang talaga sir! 45% ng aking collection are Warner titles! nyahahahaha! ;D ;D ;D

Same here! I haven't watched mine yet and it's already unwatchable.
-
(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i152/ob120485/MEHOBBYDVD/supesdisc1.jpg)
Warner Philippines has been informed about the issue, and they've elevated it to the regional level. It's a bad batch that apparently affected not only the Philippines.
They're waiting for word from Regional, and we'll keep you posted about developments on this.
Thank you.
-
Thank You.....hopefully we'll have a favorable response :)
-
Thanks! Mr. Hankey! :D
-
Yup, thanks Mr. Hankey for posting that update. I spoke with the Sales Manager of Warner earlier and he'll get back to us as soon as they've identified a course of action. I wouldn't worry - Warner's normally a boy scout when it comes to issues like this.
I checked my copy as well and same defect. Contaminated raw materials maybe?
-
I haven't checked mine. Paano if I don't have the receipt na, Man I haven't watched this set yet. Thats a problem being a dvd addict ;D. Buy and buy kasi eh ;D.. I bought this at launch ;D
-
Great Scott!!!! Mine too!!!!!!
-
Wowweee!!!!! :o
Was very close to purchasing this set during the last sale
Does Warner have an estimate of how many are affected?
Man! I'll be watching this thread closely for updates as I'm really planning to get this set soon.
Thanks Mr. Hankey & firewired ;)
-
Just checked my copy and yes, those swirls of DVD death are there. Thanks Mr. Hankey for the notification. I hope Warner comes up with a free solution for this. Also, my tin case has developed rust in the the edges. But I can live with that for now.
-
Man I haven't watched this set yet.
I have a question: have any of us who bought this set at launch actually watched it already, or did we all just buy it "to collect and view later"?
I know I haven't watched mine, either. I just scanned to the "additional scenes" indicated on the chapter list. ;D
-
Napabukas ata lahat ng bumili kahit di pa balak panuorin. ;D

Me. I think I watched it a few weeks after I bought the set at launch. It was flawless, of course.
Just wondering, is the first Superman movie included in the tin case the same (feature-wise and disc art-wise) as the individually sold Deluxe Edition?

I haven't watched mine either. I think my "Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut" disc is slightly affected, too.

hi sir! yung Ultimate edition lang daw ba affected or pati yung individual titles like the 4-Disc Superman, 2-Disc Superman 2 and 2-Disc Superman Returns? Thanks.
-
Looks like a manufacturing batch defect imho. The damage seems to be fairly consistent across all the samples. It's not just the clouding/ghosting, the disc surface itself has become rough, almost as if the plastic has melted.
The other discs in my set are fine so hopefully this is just limited to Disc 1 of the UE. I thought I saw some rot on the Superman IV disc but realized it was smudged prints. Not that real rot would've surprised me considering that this is such a terrible film. ;D
-
Another owner of the set here... only watched Superman Returns. The rest of the discs were in their trays until I saw the postings here... so, let's wait and see.
Still, Cheers!!!

Announcement
For those who purchased the Superman UCE R3 in January 2008 or later (including one of the recent sales), kindly have your Disc 1 replaced via the outlet that you purchased the item from. Warner is coordinating with the different retailers.
If you purchased your set prior to January 2008, PLEASE SEND ME A PM so we can do a headcount. There's a cutoff for replacements so it's urgent that we submit this soon.
Thanks.
-
Sent you a PM, firewired.
Thanks for the good news and the asssistance!
-
Dave,
Sent you a PM. Two Thumbs Up to your persistence on this matter. Kudos to Warner.
-
Got all your PMs. For those who've misplaced your receipts, I don't think it'll be an issue especially if you're a regular customer in that particular branch.
I'm also verifying with Warner on the replacement process/timing so none of us waste a trip to the store.
-
I hope the replacement won't be in the store where you bought it because mine was bought in Astro Glorietta and we all know what happened to that place.
-
There's a cutoff for replacements so it's urgent that we submit this soon.
A cutoff?
Now that's a foul move from Warner. What about the majority of people who bought this set, those who DO NOT browse PinoyDVD? I'm sure those who bought this that are active here are in the minority among the Philippine consumers that bought this title. These poor people have the set on their shelves, without any idea that something's wrong.
Unless they take out ads in newspapers announcing the recall, or post notices in all Astro/Odyssey/Music One branches about this production error, they have no business naming a cutoff date. It's their error, they should fix it for everyone affected whenever these consumers discover this problem, not just for the lucky few who go to PinoyDVD.

Many thanks to the keen eyes of the PinoyDVD members for the heads up. And thanks to Firewired for the action. Reminds me of the Constantine disc replacement before.

I agree. I almost missed this one, and I browse PinoyDVD everyday. Just that since this is an old thread, and I haven't watched mine, I have nothing to add and skipped new posts thinking it was for those who recently bought it and discussing their prize find. I just happen to have nothing to do tonight, and decided to click on this thread, and read about the problem... paano na those who are not (regular) PinoyDVD members?
They should really check on their quality, especially since Warner is highly regarded when it comes to discs quality. While DVD rot is a known issue, you still expect not to see them within 5-10 years from release, otherwise, why buy original?

i got my set thru pinoydvd.biz (preorder promo) since i am from way out of town (Zamboanga) :(...so how can i get my disc 1 replaced - since going to Pasig is not that logical?

100% agree on this! WHV should at least make or post notices in all Astros etc.. And should at least dont give a certain cut-off time. Maybe at least half a year.

Another Announcement
Okay Warner came up with a better arrangement regarding the exchanges. Apparently, disseminating through the retail outlets is a logistical nightmare and will likely result in stores who may/may not be properly informed and may/may not have the replacement disc in stock. Magulo. It'll probably mean at least a couple of trips to claim the replacement Disc 1.
Instead, ALL those who intend to exchange Disc 1, regardless of when you purchased it, must claim the replacement via Warner's office here in Pasig. They're waiting for the discs to come in so target start date is October 15. No receipts needed... just bring your defective disc.
Just to make sure they have enough copies on hand, PM me even if you bought the disc in 2008. Those who already PMed me are already on my list.
-
Sir firewired, I pm'ed you few days back, just wanna confirm if you received it. Thanks. Also suggestion is maybe you can post in this thread the final updated list of names that pm'ed you just to make sure you did not miss out on anybody. Thanks
-
I think di na dapat nila sinasama ang set na ito whenever there will be sale. Kasi it is a known issue for the disc itself.
Good thing na rin na no receipt needed when claiming for the replacement.
-
I just checked mine and luckily my disc was actually fine. No swirls or any hints of DVD rot. I bought mine when it came out 2 years ago. I frequently watched it at the time. Baka naman kaya nagka DVD rot kasi hindi nagagamit yung disc? Napansin ko lang sa karamihan ng post eh yung mga disc na hindi pa talaga napapanood ang may DVD rot.
-
Wonder if Warner will accept mail-in replacement? Layo kasi Pasig, and work means I seldom have spare time during office hours...
Isang bad batch lang ba ang defective? Or several? Or are all stocks come from one batch?
-

Am I the only one really angered by this? The problem is THEIR FAULT, and they're gonna make it difficult for US to get the replacement? Going to Pasig during office hours can be very hard for those that don't work in the area. And what about the sets sold in, say, Cebu?
They should offer mail-in as an option if they're too F-ing lazy to send replacement discs to outlets.

Sir firewired I'm located in Visayas. So I have to spend P3,800 for plane fare just to have the disc replaced in Pasig? :o

Davao City here! :-\

See? My point exactly. ::)

I've watched Disc 1 before and it still rotted. So this theory can't be true.
Regarding the pickup point for the replacement disc, I think Warner should just coordinate with Astro or Odyssey. Maybe Warner should just post this announcement in ALL their authorized retailers then have those stores get the names of the customers affected by this issue. Then these stores could give to Warner the number of replacement discs they need, which will be delivered to the said stores when Warner delivers fresh stocks of DVD's or VCD's for that store. Kung baga parang special order method. I agree with the others that going to Warner's office is an unfair option for many of us here.
This is the least that Warner could do for us. Actually, may tampo pa nga ako sa Warner. Remember the erroneous back cover of the Batman Returns (2-Disc Special Edition) included in the Batman Anthology boxset? I never got a replacement cover for that. But I let it pass na lang. But this Superman ordeal is a far more serious offense that Warner should rectify.

As per Warner, they've verified that this was a manufacturing batch error and not all the sets they initially released were affected. Their new stocks are all clean as well.
Regarding the inconvenience of having the discs replaced at their office, I kind of mentioned that this may provoke a negative reaction, particularly from those who live outside Metro Manila. Given all the posts here, I'm hoping they get the message and do something about it.
Replacements via the retailers doesn't seem to be an option this time around. I'm guessing it has something with their commercial arrangements since in other countries, issues like this tend to be handled through the mail.
-
Finally checked mine, same problem.
My guess is Warner is avoiding mail-in cost. It would cost them a tidy sum to air21 for replacement cost.
How much na ba Superman SE ngayon? Kasi if it's been discounted to say, 350 or 450 (Four disc), the price of going to Pasig (fuel cost + lost wages) might not be worth getting the replacement.
Any idea if the defective is limited to some batches packaged with the tin set only? Or pati 4-disc SE?
-
What I'm going to do is give my defective disc to the Warner promo girl at my favorite branch and with a smile on my face say, "Papalitan mo ito, kundi mawawalan ka ng benta sa #1 client mo..."
;D

Me defect din yung disc 1 ko. >:( Sir firewired i sent u a pm. Thanks for the info.

Hi,
I just got the Superman Ultimate Collection 3 weeks ago..but havent watched it until after reading the posts here. Unfortunately, mine seems to be part of this defective batch but checking the disks I dont see any swirls or defects but the movie stops on some chapters.
I already pmed sir firewired, please count me in
-
Just checked mine the other day...may swirls na ren yung Disc 1 ko. Bad trip! Count me in on the disc replacement...
-
Ok guys, keep 'em coming. I'll forward to Warner next week. I'll suggest that they add additional pickup points besides their office - preferably one per major metro city. Regarding PinoyDVD.biz customers, they're exploring options with Warner since this is really a Warner issue to begin with.
-
Checked mine last night and it had the same swirls the others had mentioned. Please count me in.
Thanks.
-
Mine too! Count me in. Thanks.
-
Please include my name on the list.
BTW, sent PM also to Sir Firewired last Sept. 29 to count me in on the list. Baka madouble entry name ko eh. :) :)
Thanks again.
-
No prob - names aren't critical at this point. Warner just needs an estimate of how many customers will claim the replacement discs.
-
Sir please include my name on the list, good thing I checked my DVD...Thanks... 8)
-
Mine's defective also and I'm from Tarlac. I bought mine through pinoydvd.biz.

Good to know, Sir firewired. Thanks again.
-
I tried to pm firewired to include me on the list, however PM seems to be not working as I haven't seen it in my messages.
Anyway, please count me in, my disc 1 has this swirls also.
Where exactly is warner's office in pasig?
-
PM should be fine now. Warner's offices are in Wynsum, one of the taller buildings along F. Ortigas Jr. Road (formerly Dmerald)
-
im one of those people who refrained from getting this from the outset, mainly because i wanted to get the r1 edition which had the additional disc. we all know how that turned out. my question now is, if i want to get myself an r3 copy, should i assume that the current in store stocks part of the so-called defective batch or newly pressed copies or whatever?
-
To be honest, the ONLY way you can actually be sure about what you're getting is by opening the set while you're at the store before paying for it.
If you're one of those collectors who buys discs then keeps them sealed on the shelf at home, then you're better off passing.
-
good day, please include me on th list too.
-
got my disc 1 replaced from their deluxe set weeks ago. iba man ang artwork sa disc mismo from the steel case vs the deluxe set, but same content, tried the deluxe disc 1, ok na. yun nga lang sira na ang transition ng artwork of the steelcase. oh well.
-
Where did you get yours replaced?
Any news on the satellite replacement centers for the defective disc?
TIA!
-
dragonrower, is the replacement, the remastered version 2006 or baka the 2000 version which is still widely available for less than 300?
-
guys when can we replace the items available na ba yung disk? thanks
-
Just to clarify a point that was raised: the label on the replacement disc is specific to the steel case ultimate collection version, not the 2000 release.
Due to concerns raised on this thread, Warner is reconsidering its decision to limit replacements to its Ortigas office. They're talking to Astro now to work out some sort of arrangement in key branches regardless of where you bought it. Again, the only requirement is to bring the damaged disc.
You'll have to PM me again though so we can speed this up, but please follow the following format:
PinoyDVD username
Real name
Email address
Contact Number(s)
Preferred Astro pick-up branch (if not ordered online)
Kindly indicate if you ordered online via PinoyDVD.biz so we can make the necessary arranagements with the online store.

Hi firewired! Sent you a PM. Thanks!

Hi Firewired.
Sent you my PM.
I would like to request though if you can post a list of members who have sent their PMs already so that it would be easier to see if you had received our PMs and easier for you to see how many have sent you PMs already.
Thanks and appreciate all your help.
:) :)

Okay, including mercer335 and devlin_waugh, we have a total of 30 requests for replacement discs. Will forward the info and update you when Warner gets back to me.
-
Is it already safe to but the sets out in stores?
or should I wait awhile longer? ???
-
Open your copy in the store. New stocks are already fine as per Warner, but chances of picking up one of the older boxes is possible. Particularly during sales.

Thanks sir firewired, I'll do just that when it's time for me to purchase my own set :)
-
Dave,
Thanks so much for coordinating in our behalf. WAY TO GO!!!
But the next step would be coming from WARNER itself!
I just called Trinoma Astrovision (w/c was my preferred place of pick-up), It seems the communication between the WARNER office and their reps/branch is quite poor :(. I assumed that it would be smooth to have the disc replaced. I was expecting it to be like the BLURAY POTC: 1 replacement program from Buena Vista. The disc was mailed to me a month after from the US. The disc came in a bubblewrap enclosed in a non static paper and was MINT!
Apparently the disc replacement would be coming from their in store stock and not individual discs from WARNER. This is why they were asking me if I bought it from Trinoma. I even endorsed to the WARNER rep about the replacement program coordinated by Sir Dave. I hope WARNER will look into this to make things easier for us customers. :-[
-
Hopefully that's not the final plan. From what I've been told, they're trying to bring in a batch of disc 1 (only) spindles from abroad.
-
Update:
I was contacted by the WARNER rep from Trinoma yesterday and I was fortunately in the same mall. Despite the fact I didn't have the disc I went there to put a face on the name. The warner office told the rep to collect the damaged disc from the customer. The damaged disc will be eventually brought by the rep to the warner office for replacement. When I asked her as to how many days to wait...She was again clueless. :( I suggest that the WARNER office just send the replacement discs to the preferred pick-up points rather than going to all the red tape and trouble which will befall the customer. ::) This will save A LOT OF TIME for the customer making just ONE TRIP instead of several ones not to mention phone calls and text messages. :)
-
I think Warner SHOULD put up a big banner in every strore and tell everybody about the 1st disc of this collection. How about the people outside of this forum. Kawawa. We are the customers. We spend 3000 plus bucks for this set and after they got our money, its takes them this long to do their RESPONSIBILITY? Dapat nga no hassle for the customers. Like sir Esi said they should do it like the potc disc in america it should be mailed, registered mail so it won't get lost. Warner is just giving us the go around bec they want to minimize their losses as much as possible. Just my opinion, if i took this all wrong and jump to conclusions. Sorry. But thats the way I look at it.
-
What's happening to Warner? >:(
Ano na bang nangyari dun sa raffle promo nila with Legend and Sweeney Todd?
-
IMO Warner should do the following:
Customer have the option of getting their disc thru mail or pickup at ANY astro, odyssey etc branch
First, they have to coordinate/make a letter to all retail branches informing them of The Superman ultimate collection disc 1 exchange program.
Warner will make a HUGE notification in the respected retail outlet. By this I mean making a notice and put it on top of the warner dvd racks or near warner dvds. Something like this:
ATTENTION: There will be a Disc exchange program for The superman ultimate edition specifically disc one bec of blah blah blah..
2 options by the customer
Option 1 Thru mail
Customer have the option to just mail in their disc to warner, and get their disc also thru mail. Registered Mail. Customer will keep their registered mail receipt from the post office and this will be used as a "future discount" parang coupon on their next Warner dvd purchase. Imo this should talaga be shouldered by Warner.
Option 2 pick up disc at any astro, oddysey branch etc.
Customer bring their set to any astro branch and give them disc one. Branch receives disc and get identification info from customer. List name at their master list. Give customer the replacement disc right then and there. Customer receives and sign master list. Master list and damaged disc forwarded to Warner by the branch.
To me this is the simplest and fastest. If they want to make it more complicated I dont know na. You would think something's up >:(.. Its taking too long. Dapat right now they already have notification at the branches for EVERYONE to know and to follow na the procedure if they cant decide yet what to do..Most impt is for people to know about this!!!!
Another option they can do is post the info about the disc exchange program first in all branches and for people to sign up muna and then those are forwarded to Warner. Parang preorder..Then customer picks up disc when notified. Im sure they might do this rather than my option 1 or 2 bec option 1 is too costly for them. Option 2 is they will say you don't know how many discs to allocate per branch. But I think they should have these options, especially option 1 thru mail for convenience, fast service and for people who don't have time to go back and forth to the branches, go thru traffic and pay for parking just for ONE disc.
-
You said it right sir Moks,

I think the Warner rep was not updated. Last time I spoke to Warner, the plan was more straightforward since I provided them with a list and contact info. They'd send the replacements in advance to the branches we specified and list each disc under our name/username. Hopefully that's still the plan.
-
Great UPDATE as ever from SIR DAVE!!! THANKS! ;D
But then again its up to WARNER to put this all into CONCRETE action! ::)
-

What's their plan for those that are not members of PDVD?
-
I have no idea unfortunately. My priority was our replacements. Warner will probably service the walk-ins as well since this is a confirmed defect.
-
how about for those that ordered through .biz? ;)
-
If you have easy access to an Astro, it might me better to just exchange it there. I don't think they will require receipts just the disc so you can exchange it anywhere. I also don't think Warner will pay for the two-way courier so .biz might have to pay for those who can't easily access an Astro. This is just my guess as I am not connected with any of the parties involved.
-
Can we already go to our identified Astro stores to have the disc replaced ?
:) :)
-
For PinoyDVD.biz, they're still trying to work it out. Technically, defective products are the manufacturer's responsibility anyway.
I'll confirm if the discs can already be claimed. Call the branch first to make sure.
-
Ok I spoke to the head of Warner sales and he's pushing for the Metro Manila replacements to be deployed late next week.

::)
Seriously, this is taking way too long.
-
Yup, I sent another email this morning to remind them that we're all still waiting.
-
Ok I was in Astroplus Makati last night and I asked the warner girl about this. Her response/instruction to her was to just wait for people to come up to her and ask for the disc. Swapping daw....She asked me several times if I bought it there. I said I think so, I can't remember. So I asked her if it really matters, she said no naman. What is wrong with this country and the system itself? I think the problem here is we (as filipinos) have this image problem of not being truthful, unlike in america its so easy to exchange stuff. Im not offended by her asking me several times if I bought it there but this is a WARNER problem, not astroplus so for me doesn't make sense.
Anyway, she got my cell phone number and told me she will text me when she have the disc na. She said her office hours in Warner is Thursday so she will get the disc then and text me when its there na.
Man opinion ko lang ito but this is sooooo ridiculous. It seems warner has no plans of letting everybody know about this disc 1 problem. I don't know I'm a type of person fighting for ones rights ;D I guess Im used to the american system ;D, especially on things like this. Im sorry but Im just stunned what is happening. Warner if you are reading this..SHAME ON YOU..Don't even bother blaming the "warner girl" who works there bec I don't see she's at fault. THE DISCS SHOULD BE AT THE BRANCHES ALREADY. NOTICES SHOULD BE POSTED EVERYWHERE..Thats the way I see it
-
THE DISCS SHOULD BE AT THE BRANCHES ALREADY. NOTICES SHOULD BE POSTED EVERYWHERE
AMEN TO THAT!!! :)
-
Also Warner is obviously so passive about this. Meaning if you don't talk, they won't mention about the disc replacement issue/procedures, etc.
Kung baga....kung walang magtatanong..di sila iimik.

I also talked to her about this. At first, she was unaware of such an arrangement. I couldn't blame her because as you said, it should be the Warner office that should instruct her about this. I might pass by again tomorrow to follow up on this.
-
Just read about this today. i will have to check if my Superman 1 boxset is also affected.
-
Just checked the Superman 1 (4 disc edition) R3 and disc 1 is not affected.

It is with great JOY and CONTENTMENT I report to you that WARNER has already put the wheels into motion at least in TRINOMA, short of the rest of the metropolis. I have received the replacement as soon as I brought the damaged disc to the branch I chose to pick it up( ASTRO TRINOMA ). No extra trips nor text messages needed. JANICE the WARNER TRINOMA rep even was glad to see me after almost a month. She immediately got the DISC from her locker and made the switch outright. She even volunteered to scan the disc just to make sure that it is OK. I couldn't do it thoroughly until now. So far so good. I will update this thread as I browse over the whole disc. I believe this would definitely do! THANKS WARNER and JANICE!!! :D ;D
But above all... THANKS DAVE aka FIREWIRED!!! VIVA PINOYDVD!!! ;D
-
That's great news. Still awaiting my replacement disc from Astro SM Makati. There are six of us there, I was told.
-
As Promised. The replacement disc now plays perfectly ;D
-
Ano na bang nangyari dun sa raffle promo nila with Legend and Sweeney Todd?
medyo OT, but same question

i saw the list of winners posted at astro sm san laz a few weeks back, when i got a copy of get smart, i think. i think it's goes that the list was also posted in other branches?

Latest: I got a call na couple of days ago from the warner lady at Astro makati, near sm..My disc 1 is already there ready for pick up. I still don't have time to drop by..
-
WTF?!
I just came from there this afternoon, with my defective disc in hand (I always bring it with me just in case I drop by and the replacement's already available), and was told by the Warner lady that she still doesn't have copies of the replacement disc! I was told by the Warner lady whom she replaced (she got transferred to MOA) that there are 6 of us PinoyDVD members listed in that branch and they would just contact us if the discs are there. Don't tell me they bring in one disc a time?! This is becoming frustrating already! WARNER..... HELLOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! >:(
-
Frankly speaking, this replacement delay is bizarre, and I'm clueless as to why it's happening. The lists that I sent to Warner seem to be in place since Moks confirmed that there are 6 members waiting in Astro SM Makati. That's the same number I forwarded for that particular outlet.

Man warner is really something..Grabe they can't do this simple thing. I'm just out of words. >:( I'm just trying to get my disc, I'm actually sick and tired of making an issue out of this, bec. this is not America. Seems like in the Phils. there is no "Customer rights, convenience"
The warner lady told me that mine is already there, so let us see. I assume the replacement discs of all the people in that list (I saw the list there in their notebook) are already there too. I guess not.. Allanmandy, did you create a scene there and get all mad, raise your voice? Make insults to warner?;D.. I did this ;D, It seems like you have to get real mad in front of them, thats the only way they will move their butt. I'm thinking of dropping by the next few days, if they will tell me that my disc is not there, I'm ready to throw other warner discs out the door and create a scene :D..
Warner you are just beautiful, :o..mahiya ka naman. >:(

Oh, no man. I didn't go that far since I know the staff there are mere messengers to the big bosses. And they've been really helpful in getting my contact details when Warner delivers our discs there (it was the former Warner rep who personally approached me that my name has already been forwarded there by Warner, courtesy of firewired, and she also instructed, in front of me, her replacement to contact me should the disc arrive). Also, I have a friendly reputation there since it's my suking Astro branch. I don't want the staff to feel bad over something they don't have any control in. I'll leave the shouting to you Moks ( ;D ;) ) and freeload on the positive effects of your heightened emotions. Hehehe!

haha.. Ya I buy most of my discs there also hehe..Ya I was throwing insults at warner and not the sales people hehe..Basta if ever you see somebody there going crazy, thats me, that means my disc is not there ;D..That way they will relay this to Warner and tell them the customers on that list are getting sooo pist off that they really have to do something FAST.
-
I think sir Firewired has already done all that he could. I don't think this will get resolved by this year. This will drag on and the waiting continues in 2009.
-
I just spoke with Warner again, and I think it's just a timing issue. They're doing a big audit and inventory count at the moment and that seems to be dragging. They promised to send me an official note before the weekend regarding this issue. They confirmed that the PinoyDVD lists have indeed been sent to the various branches but the replacements are still being processed.
-
As always, thanks firewired for your invaluable help! :)

Maybe they are too busy preparing for the release of what promised to be their biggest release of the year...

Thanks sir firewired, ya hopefully this issue will be resolved quickly. I understand its December but they should have already resolved this issue in November (latest). Warner have been inconsistent bec Sir Esi mentioned (I think) already received his disc, and mine is also there na a week ago hehe, with a little kulit kulit hehe..ya today I will go get my disc hehe.... It's just a hassle for the customers to go back and forth. Just my opinion :)
-
ok finally got my disc
-
Good for you Moks. I hope to get mine too. Real soon, I hope. RIGHT, WARNER?

Thanks sir, ya got it yesterday, everything went smoothly. I did not have to go wild on them hahaha.. ;D..Hopefully you will get yours soon. I think you just have to kulit them hehe..

I'm supposed to get my replacement disc at Astro SM Makati, but I'm quite hesitant to go there since I'm not sure if the disc is already available.
Since some of you got your replacement discs already, is it safe to assume that mine is already there also?
If no, can someone post a contact number of Astro SM Makati (and whom should I look for) so I could confirm it myself?
Thanks!
-
I passed by Astro Makati this evening, and, surprise surprise, my replacement disc still isn't there! It seems they only had one copy. And since Moks was the first name on their list, he got THE CALL first.
-
Is Astro Podium already accepting the defective disc for replacement ? Went there last week and the lady at the cash register did not seem to know what I was talking about ?
Thanks.
:) :) :)

Ya thats why I'm so furious with Warner, they are giving us the go-around. We are the customers, and spent at least 3 thou for this set. I'm lucky I got mine na. Actually Makati is kinda far for me also but I frequent there so its not much of a big deal. Imagine if I select Astro sm manila, man probably by June 2009 I still don't have my disc ;D..Its better I think to select big branches. But I'm surprised astro podium have no idea about this replacement program :o

Fyi, Warner emailed this last weekend. Been so busy, forgot to post it:
DATE: 05 December 2008
TO: WHV Retailers and Customers
RE: Superman UCE disc 1
As a result of a manufacturing defect on the Superman UCE disc 1, Warner Home Video Phils. will replace all defective copies bought from our retailers.
Customers need to present the defective Superman UCE disc 1 to WHV Promo Girls from the branch were they purchased the product for it to be replaced. In case that the product was bought via an on-line store, WHV Phils. will get in touch with the said retailer for delivery arrangement to its customers.
WHV Phils. will also require the customers to present a valid identification card.
We have already started sending out the replacements to various branches for customers who had previously submitted their defective discs.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this matter has brought you and are hoping for your continued understanding and support.
Thank You.

how do i get my replacement disc if i got mine thru pinoydvd.biz?
same question pls :)
-
got my disc today.
-
Finally! I got my replacement disc today. My faith in Warner has been partially restored.
-
Regarding UCE purchases through PinoyDVD.biz, Warner will advise them next week as to the steps to be taken to initiate this. Randyv and company insisted that replacements should be processed in a way that would minimize inconvenience to customers.
This is a priority btw due to some critical changes in Warner that will be finalized in the next couple of months.
-
As per randyv, they received reassurances from Warner that the UCEs purchased through PinoyDVD.biz will be replaced. They're just waiting for the mechanics to be approved. Things are a bit hectic now in Warner but this is on their list.
-
Guidelines are out for the Superman replacement discs for online customers:
- PinoyDVD.biz will contact each customer and schedule an Air21 pickup, free of charge, for the defective disc.
- Upon receipt of the discs, Warner will turn over the corresponding replacements to the PinoyDVD warehouse. These will then be sent via Air21, again free of charge, to all affected customers.
Given Warner's current predicament, it looks like the pick-ups have to happen fairly soon given their shutdown this month. From what I've heard, all deliveries to retailers have already stopped.
-
do the Superman 13-disc UCE DVD currently available at PinoyDVD.biz still contain the defective discs? or have they been replaced already? i'm planning on getting one. thanks so much!
-
When can we expect Warner to start pulling out stocks from Astro?
-
Pullouts have started from what I understand. -sniper-, I'll check with randyv.
-

thank you, sir. will wait for your feedback.

Oh Noo! :o :o :o
I better run to Astro tomorrow and get what I've been planning to get for a long time ??? ??? ???
-
-sniper- unfortunately Superman UCE is no longer available at the online store. Stocks were pulled out yesterday. There aren't a lot of Warner releases left when I checked.
-
so does this mean all superman uce disc 1 are defective?? i never noticed if there was any defect in mine.. will check tonight
-

sad news. thanks for the update sir.
anyway, is there any chance that .biz will be re-stocking? (without the defective discs)
-
Unfortunately not in the near future. Warner is pulling out all of their stocks pending their withdrawal from the Philippines and the appointment of a 3rd party distributor to handle their products locally. April or May is probably the earliest we'll see Warner releases back on store shelves.

oh my :o
need to buy also what is left and the titles of my choice.

got my replacement last week from Astro SM Makati :)
-
Finally got my replacement today.
I commend Gie from Astro V-Mall. Despite already losing her job with Warner's shutdown, she still passed by their office to facilitate this for me just last week. Hopefully Magna or C-Interactive hires her and she can continue being this efficient for other clients.
-
:( :( :( :-[ :'(
question guys, what if i just got to read this thread now?
i asked the sales lady at Astrovision SM Southmall a few weeks back and they said that they already stopped replacing the discs since last year.
Am i now stuck with the defective Superman collection? :'( :'( :'(
-
That's a really tricky question since Warner has already shut down. firewired?
-
I already lost my hope with this replacement thingy some time ago... napagalitan pa ung manager ng Astro namin dito ng kanyang big boss dahil ngayon nya lang daw nireport na wala na ang Warner... grrr...
-
Hooo Boooy.... that sucks big time. :'( :'( :'(
-
Has anybody encountered rot problems with their Disc 7 copies (Superman II - The Donner Cut)? Mine is showing some signs along the edges. This release is very disappointing. First, it was Disc 1. Now, this. >:(
-
What?! Ano ba yan! Pa-isa-isa! I'll check mine later.
-
wala naman... WHEW! disc 1 lang talaga... and still un-replaced!
-
I inspected mine, and thankfully, no visible signs of rot.
-
Whaaa?! Disc 7 naman...I'll check mine later...
sirfirewired, any chances that Magna will still provide replacements for rotted out Disc 1s?
TIA
-

Magna has been very attentive to similar issues in the past so I don't see why they wouldn't give attention to this. I'll send them a message.
-
yeah, Magna has been quite active in the forums...thanks sir firewired, this'll definitely start this off again. ;)

I got mine when it was first released in Glorietta.

Is Superman 2: Donner Cut available as a single DVD yet? If not, where can I buy the entire set?

The Donner Cut single DVD was released about a year or 2 ago in both R1 and R2, not sure if there was an R3 release. The blu-ray Donner Cut is locally available though.
The Superman Ultimate Collection is still available in some Astro stores (I think). You can also check the marketplace as you may come across a PDVD member selling this for an even better price. :)

Just opened my R1 superman ultimate edition copy and found out disc 8 is barebones. It does not include the special features and deleted scenes described in the papers..oh well..just have to find a superman III special edition to replace that copy..anyone selling? let me know. :)

You got the original R1 release that was recalled: http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=57296.msg639242#msg639242
Maybe you can get the disc replaced for free, like a lot of us did back when there was a problem with Back to the Future.

How many here have not had their defective Disc 1 copies replaced yet? Ever since distributorship was transferred to a 3rd party, wala nang balita. Nobody likes the idea of being stuck with an expensive but defective set, especially when the disc in question is a confirmed manufacturing boo-boo. :(
-
Ey, I had mine replaced last month yata yun and got the replacement from Astroplus Megamall after 2 days. Kailan at saan mo ba sya binili? Kung ayaw na tanggapin nung pinagbilhan mo, inform me. I might be able to ask Studioworld for the replacement.
-
Mine hasn't been replaced yet...bought it at Galleria Astroplus...help!

Try to contact Magnavision/Studioworld para mapilitan silag umorder from the main supplier nung Superman Ultimate Edition. As of now, kahit sa office nila, out of stock. I was lucky since ako daw yung last na nakapagpapalit.
-
Bump. Due to the upcoming release of "Man of Steel."

One of my friends was able to have his Disc 1 replaced but it still rotted after over a year. Paging Magnavision: I hope that you can help us find a solution. This set isn't cheap, you know.
-
Too funny. I just checked my R3 set now, and after all that effort to get the defective Disc 1 replaced, duncanfranchise is right: The replacement disc shows exactly the same defect as the original rotted disc it replaced.
Don't know if I should laugh or cry...

@Mr. H, how do we go about this? I just rechecked my personal set & my replacement Disc 1 has also rotted already. :(

Checked mine as well.... there's rot! Dammit! Now I don't know if I should replace this with the probable Blu-ray box set inclusive of Man of Steel or simply order the individual movie. It's the theatrical version so Amazon probably sells the Superman movies individually on DVD. And this happens 3 months after I gave away the original box set.

If you're planning to just replace the single disc by buying a copy (Superman: The Movie - Theatrical Cut), it's currently available for PHP187.50 (50% off 375 sticker price) at all Astrovision branches.
I was thinking about buying it, but was considering that it might be a waste of money, since I'll most likely upgrade to a complete Blu-ray set once the Amazon UK price drops back to £27 (it's currently £51.95, probably due to high Superman demand). And if I do buy one, I'm thinking it might rot again after 3 years. >:(
-
totally gave up on this...sold my set last December.
Will just upgrade to Blu.
