Love
Las Vegas. Like
Miami. Horatio Cane is egocentric , flambuoyant and often ingratiating. That's his character. And David Caruso plays it to the hilt. I think it's called acting.
He is the center of the
Miami universe , I agree, but he's the main reason I watch the show so center yourself by all means, Mr. Caruso. Hehe.
Like Mr.Hankey has said,
New York has to be radically different for it to work.
Miami tries hard to be as diametrically opposed to
Vegas as possible. And I think its nuances and sensibilities are endemic to its locale. It would've silly and useless to just carbon-copy the dynamics of
Vegas. Unfortunately, looks like a lot of fans would've prefered more of the same.
Miami ain't better than
Vegas - - -the writing tends to get rudimentary and contrived a lot of times - - - just different, but different often causes a lot of trouble in TVland. (No one talks as much about
twin Peaks as they do
Sex and the City, for instance). Besides, when you follow in the footsteps of anything much-loved, you're bound to always always pale. That's the nature of the universe. And of fans.
Willing to bet that
Friends spin-off isn't going to catch much fire among fans- - -even if it turns out to be good. (Is it still pushing through?)
