Thanks Sir! Elegante yung all Silver na Unit! Ang ganda ng built nya at mukhang built to last! Na test ko na kagabi few AVI at 720p files, smooth na smooth at ganda ng PQ. Mas natuwa ako nung iconnect ko sya sa Wireless LAN. Ansarap pala mag Youtube sa 42inch :)

sorry OOT :qball, A friend just confirmed its TrueHD registering in his AVR. if you are connected via HDMI, it should register TrueHD, if via optical audio, its LPCM. you may want to check your advanced settings, but do make sure you are connected via HDMIHas your friend tried the configuration that I gave you before?

Try to change the DTS HD settings to 5.1 CH then test it again.
My NMT (Egreat R1-II) is connected to the LCD via HDMI and via optical to the receiver.
The problem now is that files with DTS HD is outputted in the receiver as stereo only. :(
Kindly keep in mind that TrueHD and DTSHD cannot be passed by optical or even analog so to produce TrueHD and DTSHD, you'll need to pass from NMT to the capable receiver via HDMII did not say na kailangan eh TrueHD or DTSHD ang output via optical or coaxial. Ang sinasabi ko eh kapag TrueHD ang audio ng isang mkv file "unknown audio format" ang lumalabas at walang sound na lumalabas sa HDMI or optical "KAPAG" nakaset sa 7.1 CH ang DTS HD settings. Kapag nakaset naman ito sa 5.1 CH may output na ngayon sa HDMI and optical.
the reason walang marinig is because MKV cannot hold the dolby digital "core" track within a TrueHD track. Same is observed with PCH,If this is the case, bakit nung nagtest ka nung sample mkv file na may TrueHD, according to you ay ok naman. Pero nung pinatest ko sayo yung configuration ang reply mo sa akin "Same sa yo, you got your settings correct"

Just wanted to share this with all Egreat R180 owners. :)
I had the opportunity to connect the R180 to a receiver capable of DTS MA and DD TrueHD. The connection used was HDMI cable only. The files played were mkv files with audio playback capable of DTS MA and DD TrueHD respectively.
Result: The receiver still reflected DTS Core for a DTS MA mkv file and Dolby Digital Core for DD TrueHD mkv files. :(

Did you pass DTS-MA and TRUEHD to your receiver via RAW or LPCM ? what's your receiver model.
BTW, new firmware out for Rii series, see if that helps. 2011.09.20 visit toys4geeks.nexus.ph @ /etc support. I got confirmation it shows DTS-MA and TrUE HD via RAW

hi sir, help naman. newly bought an r1ii just today. however when i got home, i cannot seem to make it work. connected it thru hdmi to an hd ready lcd tv. all i see is the loading screen and nothing happens. i cannot even see the red times ui.

Dapat pala, the hard disk is attached via bare SATA connector so that the netbook can see the drive.
Kapag connected via USB (while housed in an enclosure) hindi siya ma-detect.

Sir jim, the cover art mode and poster mode will be available in a new r1ii or r6aii with new firmware plus red times ui? Thus it require additional setting to our hdd to be able to play/show the movie that way-cover art/poster mode? Is it in hdd or media player setting? I also prefer that one over the regular listing of movies.
I use my laptop and attach the nmt disk(dock via usb 3/esata)
and run thumbgen.
Thumbgen then gets movie info from the Net, including the coverart(folder.jpg and poster.jpg)and generate an (about.jpg)
Once all done, go to movies menu and press yellow button, viola!

b. I dock the disk or access the network share of the HD containing the movies, pero best if you attach muna locally in a dock (eSATA/USB 3) for faster acccess but USB 2.0 is fine as well.
c. i also run its companion thumbgen designer (only if you need to customize beyond the default settings)
I resized and relayout the summary and increase the text font size para mas maganda sa S900,
i also customized it so that the cover.jpg so when i navigate spashes pictures that are of better resolution. kasi the default is much smaller jpeg that when stretched is fugly.
YOu can put say -- "Egreat logo" at the lower right corner (i think gif also works so you can remove the white background ng egreat logo.
It works with R180 as well, since it runs Red Times UI, by default its list, you can go thumbnail, or in its place go File manager and hit Yellow button to switch to coverart.

Thumbgen generated about.jpg can be viewed Under photo. Sigma series does offer a clean list , with 1/3 of the screen showing the folder.jpg preview that do not need the coverart feature.sir can you give me a step by step guide on how to do this?thanks

tick drive containing your HD contents (click triangle beside folder to expand/hide subfolders)
click SemiAutomatic mode (at this point make sure your folders are properly named)
tick Detect movie based on folder name
click Process files/Folders
For trial run, pick only 1 folder.
Final run, select all folders are checked this will run a loooooooooooooong time since it parses the property info of your files, it will also generate about.jpg, cover.jpg
to copy all about.jpg to 1 folder you have to :
windows 7: search about.jpg
select all files, copy to a folder autoPhoto, (it will prompt file already exists, so overwrite and MERGE (NOT REPLACE)

- there's at least 300MB free space.
DURATION:
it takes about 3 minutes or less, when you click OK, screen will blank for a few seconds, then may progress bar, then it will reboot. when you check the version, when the dates show 2012 Jan, you are all set.

1.0.39 is the most stable for the 1073 generation. daig pa nya sa codec yung 1185 if you ask me.
I saw a DIY firmware for R200 (1073) pero i wont suggest kasi ma brick ang unit. when i get back a board i RMA, i can try there first and see if its worth the upgrade.
nakita mo ba yung 3-in-1 (3 UI in one) ? some tried it then reverted to the original 1.0.39 firmware ng R200 so unless there's a compelling reason to upgrade, stick to 1.0.39
I keep forgetting that the e200 is using a 1073 chipset and not a 1185. My bad! Nangangati lang siguro mag kalikot during the holidays and wala akong magawa :) thanks Jim!

Sir Jim! I have a dilemma on my R180. Lately, when I turn on the unit to watch films - during boot up, the whole screen turns black and a window pops up in the center with the text:

file manager
I Know - is a button which you can access by pressing enter on the remote
This thing keeps popping up about 3 to 4 times until I decide which movie to view. Have you encountered anything like this before? Did I accidentally press something to have activated this?

I am not really sure sir Jim. It weird. It became this way when I downloaded a film and transferred it to the external HD, like I always do. When I hooked the HD up to the R180, this "tip" kept on popping up and the movie file I transferred could not be found. So I took the HD out and connected it again to the laptop, I saw the movie file on explorer. When I hooked it up again on the R180, I still could not locate the movie file and the "tip" thingy is still popping up. :-[
from a PC:
delete the .Theater folder (this is where the movie, pix, audio database is written for faster navigation)
check the permissions of your folder in question (new movie) and check the permissions of the folder for an older move to compare (i.e. read write only, read only etc).
I'll also ask the egreat lab, i saw it when i plugged one of my USB external but i cant duplicate ulit, will work on this, baka may way to off it but more importantly i'll find out what triggers this.

from the looks of it, it cannot write into the .Theater folder for some reason, (likely permission of the folder or file). I will try to delete and see if it goes away. (mali pa spelling ng through :) )

I prefer my posterart (about.jpg) and coverart on 1080p, para crisp, you can layout as well with the thumbgen designer, but you will love picking up high def posters and covers and scale them to your liking.

The new subtitles feature allows you to save the font size and location preference daw per movie, have not checked but if it does ok yan esp. for those with subtitle overlayed to the movie itself, you can relocate them

I managed to download and install the latest firmware (R1-II_R100_R160_R180_R200-II_R6A-II_R800_FW_3.4.3.0_20120522.zip) on my R1-II. The subtitle feature of saving font size and location per movie, I think is working. But I was hoping it saved for ALL movies that I play. I keep decreasing the font size kasi eh -- the default is size 20 and I prefer size 13. The location preference is saved for all movies, it seems.
The main menu is changed also -- there is a "Live TV" selection, and if you want to play from the file manager, you have to go to the "Player" option in the main menu.

I have an Egreat R180 and I keep getting this pop-up lately: USB plug-in event detected. Would you like to continue?
Even if I select cancel it will just reappear in less than a minute. If you accidentally select OK, it will enter USB OTG mode and you can't get out of that USB OTG mode anymore. You need to turn OFF the device and unplug it from the power source and wait for about a minute before you can return it to its normal mode. I have tried updating the firmware but it is still the same.

Sir, as you recommended, I connected a USB printer cable from netbook to the NMT slave port (the one with a 5-sided connector on the other end). When I plugged them together, the NMT (TV screen) shows
Enter USB OTG mode...
But then my netbook doesn't seem to detect the device. ???
(I cannot see the drives connected to the R1-ii as a drive in the netbook).
I am using an Asus netbook dual-booting Win7 and Linux. Cannot seem to detect the NMT on either OS.
T4G: what's the filesystem of your disk? are you using NTFS or EXT3?
I also used 2 different USB printer cables already -- one that came with our Epson printer, and one I bought from Handyman --- hindi pa rin makita yung NMT/drives ???
ONE MORE QUESTION: What is the setting on the NMT so that it won't automatically scan the external HDD everytime I power ON the unit? Nakalagay naman sa SETUP > SYSTEM > SCAN STORAGE = Auto Scan OFF pero it seems it still scans the disk pa rin everytime. :-\

Can you ask egreat to support ASS subs embedded in mkv's. They are not showing up.
I was a bit off with the format. It was not ASS but HDMV/PGS subs which Egreat said is not supported.

yes it can support. check out mo rin yung expansion enclosures natin and docks, (2.5" and 3.5" SATA HDD, and 4bay baka madami kang nakakalat djan sa house mo na ma recycle sayang din).

Help with Egreat R6A-II recently bought and here's what I noticed.
- 1 terabyte external lagging on the 2nd port, I had to move to the other port to make it work.
- Sound can only pass though DTS, not DTS-HD MASTER.
- My settings are set to RAW

We finally got thumbgen to produce the poster art for the movies. We seem to be having a problem with the cover art mode, the movies are listed alphabetically but starts with the movie Hours. After X-men, it shifts back to 100 Bloody Acres then goes alphabetically again until Hotel Transylvania. But all movies after X-men (alphabetically) are not listed.
Oh, you can sort the folders by Title or by Date uploaded

oh... this only happens in my MP4 library (currently at 881 movies)... for my MKV and ISO libraries, no such issue (about 200 movies per drive)...

This morning, I tried to update my NMT's firmware via the update via USB menu. Then it started updating...1% all the way to 100%. I was waiting for my device to restart, and it the T.V. screen was just left blank. I turned the device on and off, but to no avail. This evening, I tried the manual method of updating (turn off device, press reset for 10 seconds, then let the update start). The same thing happened. The progress bar showed up, and then completes until 100%, and then nothing else happened. Black screen again.
Is there anything I am doing wrong? I really do not mind restoring it back to the old firmware. I just want it to work again. I hope I did not brick my NMT.

I have an RS6 that was starting to freeze/hang on many files, esp. mp4 (very few problems with larger mkv files). So I updated to the latest firmware, xEgreat-III-R6S-Pro-3.0.5.5-by-CSv2.8-DMD-xLiveCZ
It still hangs, and not just on big files but even on 1-hour tv show files.
Has anyone experienced this, and what's the solution? Thanks!
