I recently purchased a Sony Bravia KLV-32V300a at SM San Lazaro for 65k, the package consisted of a free home theatre and a wireless infra red headset... medyo naging impulsive ang pagkakabili ko sa unit kasi may tag kasi na hanggang on that day lang yung sale price, i did not know that the same package can be bought at other stores like westen appliance and abenson at a much lower price... after 1 month of use my unit had a dead pixel at the lower left side of the screen, what i did was i called up sony service center at 3301111 and on that same day, they sent a sony technician to have a look at my unit. He took a picture of the dead pixel for his report and got my warranty card and store receipt. The next day, they picked up the tv from my house and replaced it's panel but after 1 week of use the dead pixel showed up again this time on the middle part of the screen... they apologized for the inconvenience and this time coordinated with SM San Lazaro and replaced my unit with a brand new one!!! Upon replacement, i purchased a 2 year warranty extension which costed me 11,500 bucks but hey it is also important to note that the LCD part alone when replaced costs 38,000 bucks so the price that i have payed for insurance is just to give me a peace of mind for 3 years considering the fact that my bravia already got a dead pixel in 1 month of use. I have been using my Tv for 2 weeks now and have no problems so far, i have connected my laptop, ps2, dvd player etc. to test it excessively for another hardware deficiency and maybe i can get it replaced again with a brand new one hehehe
Now to talk about the settings, for video i use the vivid setting... the standard and cinema setting seems low in contrast for me, what i want is that i can see the image very clearly as if i was realistically looking at it in real life hehe. Now there is a setting there that i can't remember the name, it is supppose to make videos from dvd players appear more vivid and i set it to on. most important of all is to turn on the light sensor, not only does it conserve energy at night, it also tune the brightness automatically to give a good pictures in dark scenes at brightly lit rooms. I did not tinker with the power saver settings since the light sensor is already enough to automatically adjust the LCD's backlight. all other settings are default.
I bought a pioneer dv-600 upscaling player to pair with my TV, the unit is able to output 1080p upscaled videos as shown on the TV's upper left part of the screen which shows a few seconds after i start my dvd video. I have HDMI connection and the videos produced was very vivid and had a good black in dark scenes, by the way i set the dv-600 to full RGB setting to improve picture clarity.
