will let you know within this week :) we'll try to lower the price from A110 if kakayanin..thanks!
But most probably it won't be in the 8k range..it could be a bit lower than the A-110..and since the $180 still doesn't include the shipping cost from DHL which is $50 plus taxes and duties when it arrives here, that is if you order online..pero lets see :)
Kung ma group buy for less than P8500 sure madami sign up nito ::)

Hi ert, you have a sign up list on two (or more?) different threads (http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=80085.msg1136079#msg1136079 (http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=80085.msg1136079#msg1136079)) and this can create some confusion....
hi sir eric,
i suggest you open a thread in this section for the group buy, just like the other media players and leave this thread for technical discussions. :)
question sir ERT.. internal dhh of pch a200 will support only 2.5in? or kasya 3.5?
Actually hd audio playback is erratic on this unit according to other forums. Gigabit connectivity is just like the c200. It looks like a promising unit with future firmware updates. But as of now, imo, at the price, it doesn't offer anything which other players, almost half the price, can't do.
Features of this unit that I'm interested in are, that is if they can get it to work properly: Gigabit connectivity, Hd audio,Rich ui and simple bd navigation/menu
as i said price is a main concern. but with future updates, performance will improve. one of the better things that this player will do is of course the hd audio pass through, i think realtek based players will have a harder time getting this feature since realtek did not give enough support to the developers to enable the feature through its sdk. it is really up to individual developers to do it themselves.
atleast with sigma based players they expect things to just get better through time.

yup..the price cannot be lowered na kasi, one advantage din ng a200 is that it can support 3.5" hard drives which is much cheaper compared to 2.5" hard drives plus watch out this coming march the upcoming rich ui which will be a great features for this nmt.
i've just tried the a200 and its way much faster compared to the old a-110 :)
Is this the lowest priced Media Player/Streamer that can pass-through DTS-HD/MA and Dolby TrueHD?
Just note that these features are not even included in the software dev kits for our beloved Realtek players so to be realistic about the situation right now - asa mode pa rin tayong lahat. ;) Endless releases of "beta" FWs do not guarante that this feature is actually coming. It simply proves that the previous FW versions were immature. People easily and noisily criticize Microsoft for this specific type of practice yet are seem to be happy if Media Player/Streamers are doing the same on their "hilaw" products.
The list price is about $180. Take out dealer discount then add the costs of CIF Manila + import duties + warranty so balik ulit near $180 siguro. So IMO, 9.9.K is a reasonable price. Mga kaibigan, kailangan naman kumita ng business kahit papaano, otherwise - meaningless. It's OK to ask the seller to reduce the price - but buyers must be reasonable especially since our market is very small.
Now if you dont need DTS-HD/MA, TrueHD and the cool lookin GUI, of course any of the 6K or so Realteks would be more than sufficient. But what if you do? Again ASA pa tayo sa Realtek right now - but I hope I could be proven wrong soon because take note - it's becoming a trend for some encoders to incorporate HD audio in their 1080p encodes. But again if these things dont interest you at all, then stick with Realteks.
Ok, kapayapaan sa araw ng Lunes. ;)
On the question of reasonable profit. Magkano nga ba dapat?
9900 = $215 = 19.45% over the list price. The number looks "reasonable" enough for me. Why?
Because I suppose
1. seller has to spend money on his store
2. seller has to pay wages of his staff
3. seller has to deal with all kinds of kups and hassles during all sorts of formalities. How much price do you put on headache? ;D
4. seller has to spend valuable time doing business
5. ang INIT sa Pilipinas - so kelangan ng aircon sa opis at kotse. ;D
6. seller has to buy a burger or fried chicken or pizza. ;D - wouldn't you?
Of course, sellers are wise enough to reduce their cost as much as reasonably possible. Eh diskarte na nila yon sempre. ;)
Naku! baka itaas ni bitstream and distro ng WDTV Live etc yung prices nila, pambili ng burger .... hehe ;D
Cheers! ;D
Can't wait to see the upcoming Rich UI in March. But until then, I'm not yet decided on dumping my Xtreamer for this one.
I would still get this unit for the Rich UI alone, though. :D
by the way, a200 is already available for those who are asking via pm thanks! :)
Thanks for the A-200 :)
how's the performance of a-200 bro?
My initial impressions are;
- plastic case looks weird (parang tupperware na naarawan at medyo natunaw ha ha ha).
- I love the illuminated remote. Also it doesn't need to be pointed straight at the unit to work.
- It really is a lot faster than last year's Sigma based NMTs (chip is 2x the speed of the old one)
- noise from the fan is a non-issue, mas maingay pa xtreamer fan set to medium.
- very refined na yung interface (info screen, music, pictures).
- ethernet performance was amazing.
- my torrents max out my DSL connection (much better built-in BT client).
- 1080p streaming works
Some of the things I wanna try are;
- attaching a USB external BD-Rom drive

Could you expound on the ethernet performance? Transfer rate? and Are you using gigabit connection?
Also, have you tried bluray rips(iso and bdmv structures)? HD audio?
On NMT forum, they noticed that this unit gets hot especially the upper left top part of the case.
how many apps are you running? I've got 3 apps plus yamj and my unit is running it's movies of a server(NAS) via NFS with no problems on the old sigma chip.
AFAIK, no nmt can play MKVs encoded with HD audio. Maybe you're talking about m2ts files?
Post your feedback when you get to try bdmv structures or bluray iso's. I'm interested in this unit but still waiting for them to sort out these problems. BTW, send me a PM when you get these type of files as I may have something which might interest you 8)
Link you posted were for m2ts and ts files ::)
MediaSmartServer has a pretty good review:

One more thing regarding HD Audio. For me, if a media player cannot bitstream HD Audio from standalone files then it is completely useless in my Home Theatre. For some players such as the PCH C-200 and A-200 (assuming this feature gets fixed) there are ways to get around this by converting the standalone files into a Blu Ray structure, but for me this is just not practical nor do I have a desire to waste time going through my entire video collection. So FOR ME, I would not even consider the C-200 or A-200 for my home theater until standalone bitstreaming is added. However, many other people use Blu Ray structures and the PCH works perfect for their home theater. And lets not forget there is another group who could care less about HD audio. My point here is that don’t just go by what someone says about a product, do your research, figure out what features are most important to you, and then make your decision.
Longest for me is 1 whole Sunday.
As for movie jukeboxes... yes pwede rin Oversight.
Now that nagamit ko na Oversight (A-100/A-110) and YAMJ, I appreciate the YAMJ method now.
It's so versatile that it allows me to have my content scattered over different drives (internal, USB, NAS) and displayed on just 1 jukebox.
di ba masyado mainit sir ung unit considering hindi siya aluminum case?
New Firmware is out! ;)
Release date : 24 February 2010
Firmware version : 02-02-100208-19-POP-411-000
Ok yan ah! So no more screws just pop in the SATA drives?
Pwde share supplier mo? wala bang version na may firewire so I can also use it for macs.
Thanks kukuha nga ako nyan! So needs a caddy pa para pwde ipasok sa enclosure? I suppose they sell the caddy separately? so I can just buy lots of caddies for different hard drives
Yup I read that article.
I hope the new GUI gets released this month :)
i have a c200 with a blueray drive, is it possible to unlock the bd drive to play multi region dvds? i tried playing a region 3 dvd
As for HD Audio.
Still IFFY.
At the moment the Simple BD implementation (using BDMV folder structures) can only send Core Audio to your AVR. The C-200 doesn't have this problem AFAIK.
With the latest firmware, the only time i get core DTS or Dolby is with single file M2TS.
HD audio is passed through perfectly when in BDMV and ISO format on all my files.
The solutiont to get HD audio from a single M2TS file is to put them in a BDMV file structure.
Doc ang galing mo nakakaturn on. ;)

I don't think there is any player as of the moment that can play and decode HD audio on MKVs.
I can only get the video to play no audio if only HD audio is on the MKV file.
I also tried MKV with both dolby and dolby trueHD in it and only the dolby core was recognized
Update:
At some point in time, Hard Drives get filled up. It's always been a dilemma since I started using media players and getting rid of discs.
I actually contemplated doing the following;
1. Buy a dedicated NAS device
2. Start erasing content *gasp*
3. Buy more external drives
Luckily after mulling over the problem a couple of days I figured that what I wanted was some way to easily add/remove storage to the A-200.
(http://www.qdit.com/upload/pic2008/2009/8/20/20090820103527568.jpg) (http://shop36930234.taobao.com/)
Basically it's a trayless SATA enclosure with USB.
- Cheaper than a NAS (A-200 already has built-in NFS server anyway)
- Accepts Internal SATA drives which are cheaper than external units (got a 1TB WD for 4.1k for it)
I tried it out last night and it was great. I open the door and the internal drive pops out. A-200 maintains the same network share when I pop in another 1TB drive.
The fun part is making a YAMJ Jukebox in each 1TB drive so that when I put in the disk, the jukebox will change accordingly depending on what drive is mounted.
The enclosure costs P 2,300.00 so this feature which was unique to the C-200 can be had for the A-200.
Plus of course since PCH units have NFS, drives can be accessed by other gear in my home lan (xtreamer, imac, laptop).
I don't think there is any player as of the moment that can play and decode HD audio on MKVs.

Ask ko lang sir can this only support up to 1 TB 3.5HDDs or pwede din 1.5TB and 2 TB HDs. Thanks.
He he he...
Actually the A-110 can BUT hindi siya standardized meaning you need 1 program to make it work with DTS-MA and a different one if the Audio track is Dolby TrueHD. Kaya nga puro caveat "workaround" lang yung older models kasi MKV didn't officially support lossless audio tracks sa container until December 2009.
The real standard IMHO is if it can play straight m2ts with HD audio track without special workarounds or play straight Bluray ISOs or BDMV folders. Until I see a player that can do that reliably, beefy is right... there is NO media player that can do HD Audio "reliably".
I read somewhere pwede.. but best to be sure and bring your own HD to test before you hand over cash :)

Has anybody sucessfully installed theier YAMJ in thier a-200 because I have a problem... I followed everything in the instructions in the NMT wiki to the letter. And everything was fine. I already have my index. but the problem is when I click any movie and the play button appears with the movie description I tried playing it by pressing enter and it wont play. tried the play button and it also wont play.
What do you think is wrong? Help is greatly appreciated folks.

This is for the A-200 and C-200 only... A-100/A-110 users have a different path as found sa google code.

Yes. Download the cover art you want and name it exactly the same as the mkv file, with the extension as jpg and save on the same folder of the mkv file.
Example:
American History X 1998 1080p BluRay DTS x264-CtrlHD.mkv <--- Video file
American History X 1998 1080p BluRay DTS x264-CtrlHD.jpg <--- Cover art
American History X 1998 1080p BluRay DTS x264-CtrlHD.fanart.jpg <--- Fanart
Depends....
Kung virgin jukebox ... 100 movies will take 30-45 minutes.
Once done... updates (adding/removing 1-2 movies) will only take 3-4 minutes per run.

Mga sirs how about yung mga files na wala sa IMDB and you dont want YAMJ to change thier names kasi magiging mali siya how do we go about it,yung fanart and cover napalitan ko na kaso when I run YAMJ it renames it to something else. Is there a way para ma skip niya ito and just maintain the original name that i put in para tame siay along with the pictures. Thanks
If you don't want YAMj to change the names, google and download yanfoe. Then use that program to generate a nfo for that particular movie. From there, using yanfoe, you can just fill in the boxes to edit the title, description, runtime, actors, fanart, cover art, etc...
That program is very useful for titles not found in imdb
Sirs, can someone help me about my fan art in my PCH A-200. I am using Aeon lowlist but some of my fan art shows larger in my jukebox resulting in the picture to get cropped and cut. Is there a certain resolution i need to follow for fan art to show the full photo or not cut or must i alter soething in the skin properties to do so.
Thanks a lot for the help.
Did you change the following line on the skin properties to:
fanart.movie.width=1280
fanart.movie.height=720
If not, change it then save and regenarate all html files
hmmm... you can try.
What's the native resolution of your display?
Also, were you using a different skin before migrating to aeon low list?
Yup..
It took me some sleepness nights to figure it out BUT when I did... oh joy!

The number of audio channels as well as the resolution is done automatically by a program called Mediainfo which is used by YAMJ.
As to deciding what is displayed, that's done in skin.properties. Aeon Lowlist uses more information than default Aeon.
magkano na po ang A200 today?
magkano eto mga sir?refer to ert's reply... 2 posts above your msg :)
Out of the box, the only missing feature is HD Audio using single m2ts files.
BDMV/BD ISO also won't output HD Audio (only core audio) until Sigma provides the needed software to Syabas to fix it.
I'm pretty sure this is well documented that the A-200 firmware can't support HD Audio passthrough using BD-Lite.
Exactly. I noticed that I get core audio when BD lite is active. When I get full Bluray menus, HD audio is passed thru.
Sherlock Holmes and Up are the titles that give me core audio and BD lite as well.
The older Sigma 863x CAN stream HD Audio with Single files BUT the issue naman is that SDK is old and cannot play full BD Menus or enable BD-Live features.
For now if you want HD Audio... only the C200 can do it reliably. The A-200 can't until Sigma provides the necessary code to Syabas.
Yes it can play *some* Bluray titles with full Menus. These are content that don't use fancy features.
However, that's no longer considered full BD Menu. That's BD-Lite. Even DVICO acknowledges it in their firmware update page that it supports BD playback but not full BD functionality.
For a media player to claim full BD Menu it has to be able to play ISO rips and decode it exactly as if it were a real physical disc on a standalone BD player.
Just do a youtube search for bluray menu and you'll see a lot of samples of what full BD Menus do now. Some have really dynamite special features like Movie IQ, BD-Live, PIP that is only possible with the C200 and the Dune 3.0 prime/base.
P.S. Avatar full BD rip remains rather exotic. ;D
With or without the (upcoming) rich GUI, this media streamer deserves the top rating it got from MPC. In my opinion, 2nd nga lang ang Mede8er despite its blazing fast initialization.
Soooooo glad and extremely satisfied to have bought one.
i used tsmuxer on my 5th element bd rip, retained only the dolby truehd audio and wat do you know.... Dolby TrueHD is displayed in my Onkyo 606 na. Wohoo! ;D will test dts hd MA later, LOTR file.

Yes I know that TSMuxer trick.
It's a good workaround.
I don't wanna remux everything I have though so I am waiting for a firmware fix. Last word is Sigma already released the updated SDK to Syabas so single file m2ts/mkv + HD Audio tracks will finally be supported.
+1 very efficient!
after all the most important files are the main movie file with preferred audio codec and subtitle (playing flawlessly) :) congrats bro... remux more ;D
saan at magkano po eto a-200
its 9.9k for pdvd members special price. srp is 10.5k ;)
me advantage ba un aside from metal siya?
Parang magmukhang HDD external case instead na mukhang food keeper. ;) ;D
Tinanggal mo ba yung protective plastic films sa taas and sa tapat ng power indicator?
ung sa ibabaw sir andun pa rin ;D
Ako din kase allergic ako sa gasgas. Pati mga remote control binabalot ko sa plastic lagi. ;D
this a200 is getting more and more interesting... ::)
currently in the market for my second nmt and have considered a-200 as my best option however i saw popbox and quite confused. It say's it's the new popcorn hour. Is this their future or just a different nmt box built for internet streaming.
Ako din kase allergic ako sa gasgas. Pati mga remote control binabalot ko sa plastic lagi. ;D
ahaha allergic din ako sa gasgas .. yung top plastic nandun parin..yung remote tinago ko sa box ;D

di po ba magabal ang transfer rate ng trayless SATA enclosure? from what i'm getting the advantage of the trayless SATA enclosure is the convinience of changing what is accessible to the HDD as your collection grows plus the cost of the HDD is cheaper compared to "real" external HDD
If you want it cheap, collect internal HDDs and a single dock. If you want to transfer files between HDDs, get 2 docks with eSATA connector, install a SATA-eSATA adapter at the back of your desktop (the one with 2 connectors), and transfer files eSATA to eSATA. Desktop MOBOs would normally have 6 SATA connections available.
Sir's can you recommend what dock for internal HDD's is recommended. yun sanang kaya hanggang 2TB. also a store where I can get the dock and if you know estimatate on how much the docks are. Thanks.
I have tried another member's CD-R King dock on a 1.5TB drive. It worked perfectly fine and as fast as I expected it via USB 2.0. I dont know how much it costs sa CD-R King though but probably less than 1K pesos. Sa 2TB drives, I have only tried the makes Im using here in Tokyo (Century - the very best for me - and some cheaper brands from China too). Lahat OK naman and consistent ang performance especially via eSATA na ubod ng bilis ang file transfer rate. Meron bang docks na won't work on bigger drives? Perhaps just don't buy it toooo cheap. ;D

1. You choose only the HDD that you want to watch and latch it onto the dock connected to the A200 (still with plastic film protector/pati yung remote). ;D
2. I got another dock stationed with my other TV together with the old Egreat 31B.
3. Then 2 more docks connected to my main desktop via eSATA for file management in addition to playback via KMP.
Fugly but cheap, functional, crudely organized with post-it and definitely & reliably multi-tasking - each dock working independently and properly without affecting the performance of others. ;D
Take note of my CARTON HDD holder/keeper. ;D If I have to spend on a real good quality NAS, I would have to spend the cost of 2x a nice laptop or at least 10TB of HDD. ;D
Hi Clondalkin, Okay yang Carton HDD holder/keeper. Did you buy that, and for how much? Would you know if that is available here in Manila? Cheers!
P.S. Wow! Tama ba, your collection must be around 20TB at least already? :o
ok din pala kung ganyan ang setup anu..sir Clon how much yung docking bay na may esata? problema ko kase sa bahay e yung mga external WD harddisks e ang daming kelangang power outlets, hassle naman kung tanggal balik yung mga cords nya while selecting movies to watch. ;D mag shift na rin siguro ako sa internal bays
hindi ba sir masama if madalas magtanggal kabit ng internal hdds sa mga docks?
good pm.
how do you save your subtitle position setting? it seems that everytime i turn on the PCH, the subtitle position setting returns to its default( 70 yata) which is a bit high for me, almost in the middle of the screen na. i set it to 0 para nasa ibaba lang.
You can't yet.
It's working on beta though so expect it sa next firmware update
The SATA-eSATA adapter is not expensive and very easy to install in a desktop - assuming meron kang spare slots and SATA connectors sa MOBO. I installed 2 of those sa main desktop (2 x 2eSATA) para if I have to do heavy file management, I can possibly connect 4 docks max via eSATA in addition to the internally connected drives and some externals that I can connect via USB2.0. Mas practical yon sa akin instead na maximizing my internally installed HDDs (which would be 4) dahil having a lot of HDDs inside the PC would burden your power supply unit and produce more heat within the case unnecessarily... sayang kuryente especially if you like to keep the PC running practically 24/7. Either way, matagal nga lang ang boot-up ng PC kung maraming connected HDDs both via eSATA and USB 2.0 but it works well.
Pero cool syempre ang NAS if you can afford it.
They look the same. I can get up to 25MB/s using usb 2.0. I haven't tried measuring the speed with esata as it's such a hassle to connect via that port. Maybe it's just my pc , OS and ext file system of the hard drive.
What OS are you using by the way and are your esatas hot swappable? Can you connect the esata while your PC is running or do you have to connect it before booting up?
medyo mahirap samen ang ganyan, kahit anong sara ang gawin ko, laging napapsok ng alikabok ang bahay.
Hi Clondalkin,
Are you using this kind of adapter :
What speed are you getting when transferring files?
I tried this bracket on my old pc but the speed was almost the same as usb 2
New firmware!!!!
Download na!
I've installed it.
- NMT Apps via USB works
- Subtitle settings now saved (persistent)
- Persistent volume labels on USB also works
- TCP Rwin also available.

For A200, the biggest change is the new file view for SimpleBD.
Sometimes BDMV structures just don't work well sa SimpleBD so the new firmware allows you to manually go through a BDMV structure to find the m2ts file to play.
The weird thing I noticed that I have a BDMV of Dances with Wolves. It's an old rip and on simple BD I can get Dolby TrueHD to be recognized (not just core audio).
Puede bang FW lang i-update and dont touch the NMT apps?
Thanks
pwde naman as long as you don't use the NMT Apps :)
Before this firmware, if I changed the settings, size, position of the subtitle (subtitle key on remote) it wouldn't be remembered after a reboot. Now changes are saved to memory.
kailangan ba talaga sirs to install ulit ang YAMJ every time there is a firmware update. kasi nag update ako when i finished updating ayaw ng ng YAMJ ko to play the movies pag enter ko pero yung mismong jukebox GUI nandun pa din. Thanks.

No plans of buying a 3D plasma for at least 2 years pa. ;)In my understanding the 3D processors can be done on your display (TV) alone or thru Player. Provided your TV is compatible with the 3D system.
Pero dapat pahinugin muna nila yung most important and useful features for mainstream users before thinking of cool stuff.
Is there really an over heating with issue with the A-200?
Has it been fixed?
Hi sirs,
I would just like to know.
Is there really an over heating with issue with the A-200?
Has it been fixed?
Thanks!
What overheating issue?
Nakakatulugan or naiiwan naming powered lagi ang A200 and it just stays warm - but I dont install HDD internally. Meron bang HDD player na hindi umiinit? It's like a CPU+VGA card so it has to get very warm.
If you are a Mac user like me, here's my suggestions;
1. Install NTFS-3G (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24481/ntfs-3g).
NTFS is still the most accessible format for storing media. Always use NTFS for storing files. You'll thank me later.
2. Get a USB HUB to increase the number of ports (there's only 1 in the back and 1 in front, the other one is USB slave).
3. Get ANOTHER 4~8GB USB Stick (less than 1k) Sandisk Cruzer is verified working. You'll need your existing USB stick for flash upgrades.
4. Install NMT Apps to USB stick. Setup > Maintenance Menu > NMT Setup Wizard
- select typical install
- choose USB stick to install to.
5. Format your spare 1TB to NTFS (using NTFS-3G driver and Disk Utility).
6. Plug NTFS drive into A-200.
7. Setup > Maintenenance > NMT Setup Wizard
- select MEDIA Select
- choose NTFS drive.
What does the above do?
It allows you the freedom of moving the Hard Drive in the future to other Media Players since NTFS is common and you don't have to recopy over and over (that sucks)
NMT Apps on USB stick means you can avoid formatted EXT2/3 on the Hard Drives you own. Ext2/3 is HARD to support unless you are a die in the wool linux user.
8. Install Handbrake on your MAC.
AAC which are used for Apple audio isn't completely error free when played on the PCH. You'll need to convert them to MKV with AC3/DTS for stability.
9. After a couple of weeks or months, when you're bored with the A-200. Read up on YAMJ (Jukebox) or wait for the NMJ when it comes out of alpha/beta testing.
10. Plug the USB slave port of the A-200 to your MAC so you can easily tranfer media to it. Way faster than network copying. With the slave port, it's like a big external USB hard drive :)

I got a PCH A-200 Yesterday at Gogadgets! I selected the PCH because of my perceived software support, roadmap of the product and stability. though it was pricier, I also believe in getting what you pay for.
While at it I also got a Samsung PX2370 HD/HDMI LED monitor for 15.5k in the area to complete my bedroom setup, which the monitor although only one HDMI port can connect with a PS3, Sky Cable HD Box and maybe my Apple Macbook ( or a Mac Mini/ATV in the future ) via the DVI.
I got the PCH A-200 with their 1 Terabyte package with movies (HD2). Also left another 1 Tb HD for more movies. Also got the Wifi USB dongle which works pretty well. Started watching a few movies and so far so good. Picture quality is superb.
Of course being new to the product I have some issues. Any tips will be appreciated.
I would like a better UI and also since I have about 500 Gig of files on a Mac formatted (HFS+) which is mostly music, I need a way of migrating that. Or maybe a separate player for music instead since the PCH interface is not equal to iTunes. :)
These are great tips. I have the NTFS 3-G and its pretty helpful.
Would a NAS like eTrayz be a good investment so I can swap external disk ?
I guess Ill get the spare thumb drive, a good USB hub and an HDMI switch in the next few days.
I think I won't rush and spend some time enjoying the movies in the current internal 1 terabyte disk.
But I know what to do now ..well most of it though. Some are decisions I have to make, I still want an Apple TV when a new one comes out or someone sells it really cheap. Maybe for renting movies or to manage the music part. Unless the NMJ is really good. :)
- PGS subtitles (woohoo!). Hi-res na ang subs so large TVs will show them beautifully (not blocky).
- SimpleBD now also available when playing MKV, meaning pwede na mag-switch ng chapters, subs and audio din.
- Forced subs, default subs now detected in BDMV/BD ISO
- Avatar BDMV/ISO/BD works
I don't like eTrayz, Dlink-323 or even xTreamer Pro. 2 bays is BITIN and extra power consumption.
I use a DAS (Direct Access Storage). I use bare hard drives parang videotapes he he he. Since A-200 has built-in NFS/SMB server/client it's the one I use to store everything including my music/photos. I can access them on my Macs sa bahay.
The NMJ is kinda like the PS3/PSP Cross Media Bar, it's either you like it or you dont :)
A PC running torrents will ALWAYS be faster.
However a PC also consumed more power so there's always a trade-off.
I only have a 1.5Mbit DSL line and I can max it out (150Kbps) so it's fast enough for me.
You can download wherever you want pero think ahead because the last thing you want to do is change your mind and have to endure 17~24 hours copying media off a 1TB drive to another.
For me, the internal HD always hold stuff that's "erasable" meaning TV shows and some random video I grab off the net. The Keepers I always prefer to use external drives just so that I can move it to other players/nas device in the future. Avoid too much writing/erasing on these so the disc has less chances of corruption requiring you to boot a PC to run chkdsk on them.
Thanks again. I definely need to think ahead and plan this out well to avoid duplicates.
Also need to write down which movies are keepers.
Any recommendations for an enclosure to house a 1 Tbyte HD ?
or maybe a branded 2 Tbyte external would provide better value.
Now I realize that they can easilly fill up with those bluray 1080p movies.
I saw 35 gig files, I wonder how many days will that take with my basic Sky Broadband subscription :(
Just got my A200 today.. Back to PCH again.. From PCH100 -->WDTV -->Egreat 31b --> PCH110 --> AP100 --> AP300 --> wdtvlive --> AP360 --> xtreamer -->PCH200. Time to revive my Jukebox.. :)
-First one works well with BDMV and BD ISO already. Yeah MKV subs are fugly as dot matrix printout.
-2nd one - cool - you mean some kind of menu will be generated on MKVs? if the MKV encode has chapter, multi-subs and multi-audio, they already work well with FW 2.0.x. You dont mean the A200 will generate chapters and multi-subs and multi-audio kahit wala sa encode? hehehe
- I dont understand the 3rd one. BDMV/BD ISO subs work well with FW 2.0.x
- Avatar BDMV can be dodgy at times but AVATAR BD ISO is perfect already (sans menu).
Tell them to fix HD audio first and foremost, then I might buy a new AVR. They're probably not working on the right contents/encodes...similar to Framestor case... hehehe
Great tip on USB flash drive. ;) I think we should meet in July. hehehe
Nope. PCH can't read HFS partitions
That's why I use NTFS
Wow! after reading all information and feedback still end up empty ::). I'm really interested with this A200 however, Im a little bit worried since I'm a type of person who just plug and play and setup and forget. I'm very much sure that it will be hard for me to setup and upgrade specially what SCIFI-FAN did on his movie library. I'm a kind of person just enjoy watching movies than making kalikot ;D
Or probably, I can ask the store to do it for me but not sure how good they are compare to you guys. hehehe
It's really a worth buying for!
You can find some at opensubtitles.org
I do it automatically with YAMJ. Not only will YAMJ scrape for poster/fanart it can also grab subs and even trailers for you.
you have to edit the file moviejukebox.properties file.
add this entry;
opensubtitles.language=eng
You have to use the latest version of YAMJ.

Wow, galing! Btw, how about the mkv files that have subtitles already? How would YAMJ deal with those sir? Thanks again sir.
I start with a BDMV (45GB)
I then extract the Video track using Handbrake and reduce the bitrate to half the original size (14~15Mb/sec)
I then use tsMuxeR to extract the HD Audio track and the PGS hi-res subs
I then use mkvmerge to "mux" Video/Audio/Subs into 1 file
I ended up with a file roughly 16~18GB.
Yes this feature is working now in beta so it will come to public firmware for sure.
I've tried a framstor encode and the receiver detects it's HD Audio track.
oh yeah!!! welcome news indeed!!! ;D
framestor, humanda ka. ;D
tapusin ko muna ung Batman Dark Knight full BD. hehe
If you're gonna spend time on a Framestor, it's better to spend that same amount of time on a Eureka BD ISO. Mas maganda pa...and mas magaang kesa MKV.

Would the Torrent app be upgraded the next release ?
its a little slow, I hope it can do faster downloads :)
I know you mentioned a pc/mac will always be faster. how about the Torrent app in other appliances?
I saw the new Belkin routers having a Torrent app na, I am hoping to get one as an option.
If it's of any help in deciding on getting the belkin for torrent , I can sustain 12-16Mbit download speed or 1.5-2MB/s on a small commercial NAS which has a very weak processor(500 Mhz Marvell 88F5181 and 64MB RAM).
Hi Beefy. What's your ISP? You're based in Manila? Thanks!
PLDT
May I ask how much ang 16mbps package ng PLDT? Thanks ulit!
Compared to transmissions , how do you find the native torrent client in the PCH ?
I haven't installed or use Transmissions
i can't seem to login via ftp to my pch-200, whats the username and password ?
i tried nmt as user and 1234 as passwd
i tried ftp user too.
ftp app is running and even via terminal i can't seem to get the right default passwd.
yes i did put the ip address of the PCH and i can see it via term/ping/ftp.
i think its the username and password that wont work.
the pch has a built in torrent when i installed the nmt apps. will transmissions be a better option ?
I just took the plunge and got myself a PCH A-200 ;D
anyway, I was trying to setup my YAMJ,
but my YAMJ GUI Config keeps on crashing when its time to select the folder where Jukebox is to be saved.
using YAMJ 2.0, MediaInfo 0.7.34, YAMJ GUI Config 0.51
any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
kaninong guide are you using bro?
have you tried this http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=34371 ?
Hi Scifi-fan,
Ive been testing a whole bunch of BDMV Structure and BD ISO using the A200 since last night and quite interestingly, all BD ISO files (about 20 titles mostly the latest BD releases) are showing DTSHD 48.0 kHz on the INFO. Some demo DTS-HD contents (from CES, etc.) are also showing DTSHD 48.0 kHz. On the other hand, the BDMV Structures are showing DTS 48.0kHz
My AVR is a Yamaha DSP-AX1 - older than most of your kids here ;D and only indicates DTS.
What is this supposed to mean? Is the A200 actually detecting/bitstreaming DTSHD from those BD ISOs to the AX1?
Thanks!
OT: still awed at the PQ of the remastered Gladiator. Really really black blacks. hehehe
Clondalkin, That bit about BD ISO and DTS-HD is interesting. Guess I'll find out when I upgrade to a receiver with HD-Audio soon. hehe ;D
If the A200 really gets DTS-HD from BD ISO, all the more reason to get ISO over BDMV, aside from the more "compact" size. Cheers! ;D

Hi Firestorm. Yes BD ISO yung mga demo contents.
As brilliant and current Eureka BD ISOs are, I'd just let him do the encoding work. hehehe. Saan kaya ako makakahiram ng bagong AVR. ;D
Hi, what I was suggesting is just packing the BDMV structure into a BD ISO there is no encoding involved. Use Imgburn to build the ISO by adding the directory with the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders. It would take around 25-30 minutes. Thanks.
Hehehe. I know what you meant Firestorm but Im fine with awesome image quality and audible (legacy) sound. Just got totally curious when every single BD ISO I played showed DTSHD on the INFO while BDMV Structures simply indicated DTS.
Just got word there will be another Release Candidate so that pushes back the C200 firmware another week and the A200 a week after.
Syabas introducing some new low level flash drivers in the firmware na in theory will reduce the chance of a bad flash requiring the unit to be returned for repair.
Few minutes lang on a quad core using makemkv ;) I'm sure mkvs with Hd audio will start to pop up on private trackers once the firmware becomes public.
What's the processor of your laptop and what program are you using? Just want to get an idea of the conversion time.
MKV Header compression is addressed on the upcoming firmware.
It really caught a lot by surprise.
For those who don't know, mkvtools 4.2 implemented header compression during encodes that used to be OFF by default. Now it's on so some players can't play files muxed using mkvtools 4.2 unless the user intentionally turns header compression off for each job.
bakit merong mkv file di kaya iplay ng a200 pero kaya iplay ng vlc sa pc?
Header Removal Compression. Maski Mede8er same problem. So PC talaga tigasin. ;)
me solution ba ito sir?
ganito rin sir ung solution sa nag slow motion playback?
Remux the file using an older version of MKVToolnix. You can google about the procedure. Isang pasada lang. Kung baga sa Excel or Word file, tipong si-nave mo lang from a newer version of Excel/Word to an older version. ;)
But it would be easier if you just watch muna sa PC those kinds of files until the NMT makers release the fix in their future FW. Hopefully.
Was able to do this using the newest version of MKVToolnix but you have to manually click "none" for Compression. Have converted quite a few titles already with satisfying results.
curiuos lang, how does the popcorn hour 3d works? anybody?
Yes... mkv header compression fix is included in the firmware. Dapat this week i-release siya.
Upcoming firmware this October!
can't wait for it finally! :D

Any feedback on 1080p streaming using wn-150 with A-200?
Update: Success using just the cdr king wifi N
sir galing po ako sa cdr king yesterday sabi sa akin hindi raw po pwede yun wifi nila kasi may installer cd ??? paano po kaya pagaganahin sa C-200? ty.
No need for the cd. The pch will automatically detect the dongle
Finally...
Na release na A200 firmware.

Enjoy HD Audio on single files.
thanks, now downloading ;D
sana kasama dito ung mkv header compression fix
Hello Anya.
HAPPY?
nagupdate lang ako sir di ko pa natesting ;D
OK, but your A200 is not bricked right? hehehe...and playable files dont suddenly become unplayable.
I read somewhere parang bumagal daw ang response.
I might try the new FW during the weekend.
Subtitle adjustments are hidden...
As for TrueHD, there's no capability to extract interleaved DD track so without HD Audio capable AVR, your file will not output sound. Medyo tricky ang TrueHD because some rippers don't support interleaved DD unlike DTS-HD which has a core DTS track.
If I remember right you have to go to Setup > BD/DVD/CD Audio and set Navigation to File View.
This means you have to navigate to the BDMV/STREAMS folder and you can see each individual m2ts file.
If I remember right you have to go to Setup > BD/DVD/CD Audio and set Navigation to File View.
This means you have to navigate to the BDMV/STREAMS folder and you can see each individual m2ts file.
AFAIC that's the default for Internet Radio.
There's also a shoutcast application but you have to go into Webservices > Apps to see it (same menu where Youtube is)
Workaround on Header Removal Compression - So far so good. Wala pang paltos. Hello Anya! :)
I can only speak for PCH 200 series.
The only subtitle format it can't support is hires sub/idx format. PGS, SRT, SSA/ASS and VOBsub are supported.
sa A200 sir ayaw lumabas nung subtitles pero pag sa pc iplay lumalabas. btw, the subtitle is an srt file
Eto definitely will work: Get another SRT file. Subukan mo muna sa PC to verify the sync
Eto BAKA mag-work (it does for me once in a while): Balik mo sa PC yung file then play mo muna yung file sa PC ulit with the sub and verify that sub works talaga...Tapos lipat mo ulit yung HDD to the A200...fire it up...sometimes meron twilight zone ang subtitle. I dont know how the subs came out the 2nd time around sa A200 but it actually did.
3x ko sir sinubukan sa pc meron subtitles, tried it on two different a200 units wala talaga :-[
You need to download a program called jubler.... load the SRT file in it and re-save it.
nai-ON mo ba manually yung subtitle sa PCH? Baka naka-default to NONE?
nakadefault sa ON sir ung subtitle settings. sa ibang file kasi gumagana meron lang select titles ayaw gumana
Basically it's one of the processes involved when creating MKV files.
Some players can't read MKVs that used header compression and some can.
In this case, the 200 series Popcorn hour can read MKVs with header compression on.
So as long as you're using a A/C-200, you don't need to worry.
Oh ok..thanks so much sir! By the way, since I am just a newbie and don't know much about NMTs (including the nitty-gritty), would you still recommend this NMT for me? Or I'd better off with let's say Med8er?
Thanks again!
how much does this cost now? am looking kasi for a replacement for my HDPro ..
Thanks! :)
hi guys! here's the upcoming firmware to be release next week, no need for any PC to configure.
one new View and also the updated Wall and Category Views of the Networked Media Jukebox, also i added the TV Show Section which i missed on the last Video.
check out the video ;D

mga sir patulong naman.. anong program pwede gamitin para sa direct download sa a200? thanks..
I tried installing from USB and got ERR006 ???
I've seen some users attempt and succeed.
I remember they said it only works using SBS (Side by side) 3D.
This entails ripping the 3D disc and converting it to 2 720p SBS MKV format and outputting it to a 3D TV.
Honestly, sounds like too much work. If one can afford these newer 3D sets, they already give you the 3D player with it so all you need is get 3D bluray discs.
planning to get A-200
malaking bagay po yung playback of 3D movie mkv
does any A-200 users already tried playing one?
mukhang me problem sa unang firmware download, naayos na ;D
If your content is located from a Network Share NMJ CAN still work pero make sure you allow the A200 read/write access to it.
Hi anya! So anong nabago kung FW lang ang upgraded? Or are you using NMJ na finally? Cheers!nagupdate pa lang ako sir, di ko pa natry magplay ;D
SBS 3D won't work on the A-200 yet (perhaps never on the current gen of players). Tried Avatar 3D , Shrek 3D, among others and they're all totally BLANK screen. Using PDVD and TMT3 naman, the PC tells me I should have a 3D TV.
Full/Half SBS 3D contents in Matroska container ay dumadami na and the file sizes are very reasonable, pero eto requirements to play them properly:
3D Ready TV capable of processing SBS video (half/full) - HDMI 1.4a compliant
Shutter Glass
Stereoscopic (software) player/ nVidia 3D Vision Video Player (use ffdshow as h.264/AVC decoder)
HDMI 1.4a compliant video card - ATI 6000 series + Nvidia 400 series except 465-480
PC rules! hehehe
do you know if A-200 can read/output such?
ano ang babaguhin sa settings if sa crt tv ang gagamitin?
Hello sirs!
Just recently became a new member of A200 family. Newbie also in the world of NMT, pagpasensyahan nyo na po kung may mga tanong na medyo mababaw lang sa inyo.
I understand sirs na in getting information for the movies/music via NMJ, we need to be connected to the net... tanong ko lang sirs, kapag tapos na ma-DL na yung mga information and updated na, pwede pa rin bang ma-view yung mga information sa nung mga movies/music sa external HD kung off-line na sa net? Kailangan po ba lagi ka connected just to view the information or 1-time DL/update lang kailangan?
Thank you in advance po sa mga magrereply.
rgds
Set to 720p.
NMJ will normally not work on CRT so this is a workaround for it to downrez the interface.
At this point in time just try...
If pumalpak you can use the TVMODE + 0 on remote to go back to Auto.
Once back in Auto you can go back to setup to try another setting.
Kailangan connected to the internet yung A200 for it to get information "scraping" about it's contents.
Once done, it CAN be offline but once it senses a change in the HD content, it will need to go online again automatically to scrape data.
The NMJ infinitely adds value to the player. Not a lot of media players can boast having a built-in jukebox that's actually fast and boasts real flash animation.
No need for PC.
Plus it can handle MP3 albums and even Photos.
Before yung mga taong technical lang meron pursige gumawa ng jukeboxes but now any PCH 200 series owner can.
It's easy..
Press SOURCE button on remote, navigate to existing internal HD or network share.
PRESS RED button to generate jukebox.
To go in/out of jukebox, press EJECT button on remote.
Hindi (pa) puidi kasi the left and right files need to be read simultaneously. You can possibly open one file at a time. 2D nga lang. Hehehe.
And if ever current gen NMTs could be tweaked to enable 3D playback, hanggang half SBS lang (not full HD) ang kakayanin ng bandwidth ng HDMI 1.3 - no big deal perhaps as long as you can actually watch the content in 3D smoothly. Malamang magiging bottleneck din ang raw processing power ng NMTs if they are made to decode 2 files at the same time.
On another note, hindi pa naman standard ang encoding ng 3D contents so some geniuses might be able develop a work-around.
Yup..
Pretty much puro workarounds lang ang 3D playback so my fear is if you put so much money into this experiment and down the road there's a clear standard already, you might end up losing if you're on the wrong side (like the HDDVD vs Bluray wars).
The only published standard the 200 series will adopt is using Real3D but again this might take a long time to finally hit public firmware (NMJ took nearly 1 year).
how bout sir for external hdds?
There was a problem on that copy...
Please redownload firmware from site again.
Can you go to setup Maintenance and read the current firmware version....
SETUP > Maintenance
What's the stated Firmware Version?
That's the C200..
Are you sure? This is the A200 thread.
My NMJ works fine (as of now)...but is it always like that na laging nagscan ng database everytime you open the NMJ?
ganoon din yung sa akin. isa pa, yung ibang movies wala sa NMJ.
Sir,
I'm positive that what I got is an A200... It sure looks one.
The current firmware installed in my unit is :
02-02-100118-19-POP-408-000
Based on http://www.popcornhour.com/download/C200/firmware-C200.html , this is a C200 Firmware released last 29 January 2010. That is why when I load the updated firmware of A200, I am getting the error of "Cross-customer update is not allowed."
Weird right?
Do I need to return the unit? or there is a way where I can correct the installed FW and make it to an A200 FW?
if you wanna add an image to your movie...where will you place the moviename.jpg? i tried, pero ganoon pa rin after mag update ang nmj...wala pa rin image for that certain movie.
I would suggest na ibalik mo na agad sa seller. May implications yung situation mo na hindi maganda.
Finally, I got my unit back with the correct and updated A200 FW.
Hopefully it's all downhill from now on.
Thanks for all who helped.
nice,. enjoy :)..
...Ano implications po ang tinutukoy mo na hindi maganda sir?
YES.
That's the big advantage of the A200 over the C200, the A200 has Slave mode USB.
Just plug it in your PC/MAC and the internal drive is mounted like a traditional USB hard drive AS LONG as your PC/MAC have the proper drivers to read/write ext2/3 partitions.
Personally I have all drives in NTFS format so it's easier
Unless you had explicitly requested your store to install the C200 FW on the A200 when you purchased it, then someone must have "touched/used/played with" your (brand-new) unit before you.
I had learned previously that if I would like to be adventurous, I could cross-install the C200 FW to the A200 - but that should void the warranty.
Pero if you want to think positive, just consider it as an honest mistake "at the factory". ;)
Thanks...it worked! I downloaded the driver for the ext2/3 and installed it in my netbook with windows xp... not compatible though with my laptop using windows 7...
Are you referring to ExtIFS program? Actually, you can force it to install in Windows 7. I-tinker nyo lang yung compatibility properties nya. :)
thank you sirs
so wait muna for now. hope popcorn will expedite 3D playback work around or adoption of Real3D.
Was this NMJ created using just the firmware or did you use ToNMJ converter (from YAMJ jukebox)?
.. just got the a200 from one of the resellers, i can't get the NMT apps installed onto the disk .. i got the unit with disk already installed, formatted in NTFS .. though i see from other forums that NMT apps should be installed on EXT3, the reseller insists that all their buyers are able to install NMT apps on NTFS and works fine ... does anyone have the steps to get this done?
You need to have the NMT apps installed on an EXT3 formatted drive. A workaround is to use a cheap 1GB USB stick, format it to EXT3, and then install the NMTs apps on the stick. You can then define the destination drive as the internal drive for the NMT apps such as the built-in torrent app.
Yup... that's my setup but I use 4GB stick coz' it's cheap nowadays.
Hi!
Some have been asking if an NMT is capable of playing 3D. Well here is how the A200 plays single Half-SBS 3D mkvs on a non-3DTV.

That's not the V20 doing some kind of P&P thingy. It's the V20 telling us it can't display the left and right images in 3D. ;D Kinda cool looking though ne? ;D So the next question is, will these 3D movies be actually shown in 3D if I have a 3DTV with active shutter glass? ;)
BTW, full-SBS 3D movies display as BLANK on the HDTV when played via the A200.
No current media player can play full 3D. Only HTPC with the correct specs can play full 3D.
while all current media player regardless of brand can half sbs 3D. Your 3DTV will combined the sbs to 1 image.
Forced subtitles are just that... forced.
Even if you don't set the subtitle to ON, it will still display.
A perfect example is District 9.
If you play it back using a Bluray player, you will get subtitles during the portions of the movie where the aliens are talking EVEN if you set subtitles to OFF during setup. That's because the movie experience is affected without them.
The problem stems when you backup BD to MKV format.
Even though all the MKV tools allow one to rip the subtitle tracks and even identify them properly (default, language, forced), currently the firmware doesn't detect the forced subtitle flag (in mkvmerge).
So using the current firmware, if I watch District 9, I have to turn subtitles on manually during the alien parts if I don't want to see english subtitles at the same time.
Other movies that use Forced subs;
Avatar - Navi speaking scenes
Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 - Japanese, Chinese speaking scenes only
Inglorious Bastards - German speaking scenes.
Bourne Trilogy - foreign language only.
Ok... let's take it slow.2. When you attach power does the fan still spin?
1. Leave Cover OFF
2. When you attach power does the fan still spin?
IF Fan not running, then it can either be power supply at fault. Looking at the power brick, it's fairly common rating meaning powered USB 3.5" drive enclosure power supplies will probably work.
3. If you said totally dead ang output using your TV, do you have another set you can try. For debugging purposes, I use the most basic set (CRT) using composite video (single yellow RCA cable).
4. if there is a jumper on the motherboard, the board will boot with a BLUE screen that says firmware recovery, insert USB stick etc etc.
magkano sir?
SRP 2.2k PDVD members price: 2k only
just pm me :)
madali ba ilipat sir from the plastic case to the aluminum one?
I'm so happy and contented with the performance of my A200 right now that I don't even have time to look at it at all. Nood lang ng nood sa plasma 3D nalang ang hindi ko tested. Tsaka pa yon ;D
Bili nalang tayo ng A210 Anya?
Tip: Para hindi nakakainip mag-initialize if too many HDDs are connected simultaneously, I turn on the A200 with only 1 HDD powered muna, and then once the main screen is displayed, then I turn on the other HDDs one at a time. I use powered USB hub na capable of 10 USB connections. Works well. Wala lang. hehehe
Sir Clondakin,
press INFO button when viewing these files.
IF they are shown to have 25fps then it's a known problem.
A quick fix is to change the video output to 1080i to be able to view them without video dropouts and judder.
I'm using a beta firmware now that fixed it so expect it to make it to public firmware for the A200.
after updating the firmware meron pa rin talaga movies na di lumalabas ung subtitles pero pag sa pc iplay meron
sana maaddress nila ito sa next firmware update :)
Pleased to inform that Blu-ray Region Code Remover 2.5 works like a charm. So far it's 100% effective (although there is a disclaimer that it may not work all the time)
As it is, no more region coding issues for my A200. ;D
Yahoo! Quick question- Blu-ray Region Code Remover 2.5 work on BDMV file structure and *.Iso pure rips?
Havent tried on *.iso as all the BD-ISO in my drives are region free already. Tried and confirmed to be actually working on BDMV Structures...very easy and only a few seconds of PC operation.
I doubt if it can play full 3D because its only 1080p. Which is why i'm wondering..
Ano kaya problema ng a200 ko? Minsan pag sinasaksak ko sa outlet, ayaw mag-on. Paglipat ko sa ibang outlet, ok na.
^what title has that? latest I have is Amazing Spiderman and it's playing flawless without CINAVIA.
sa ISO and sa BDMV, how can we tell if its Simple Navigation BD lite or Full Menu multibranch navigation? there a tool we can use?
anyone knows where to buy remote control for a200? Tia..
Ayaw na mag-on ng power ng pch ko. Nung dati, pasumpong-sumpong. Ngayon ayaw na talaga. Saan ko kaya pwedeng ipaayos ito?
you may try to bring it to our office at 69B Kundiman St., Brgy. Paltok Q.c. look for shirley tel no. 9853668. we do have a service fee since its already out of warranty. ty
