Hello!
Any comments po sa PSB Speaker which is the best system for Ht setup as well as Audio.
PSB speakers have consistently been cited as having great "value for money" speakers.
I have a pair of PSB Stratus Goldi speakers which I purchased in 1999. Excellent speakers for both HT and Audio but you need a very powerful amp to drive them properly. I have no experience with other PSB models.
I am actually interested in their new Synchrony series but I don't think these are available locally yet. Baka November pa raw.
I understand there is a new distributor for PSB locally. Kayo ba yun?
Check this psb owner's thread:

The Megamall branch was also Upscale Audio. Looks like that store has died.
Does anybody know which local audio shops carry PSB? Thanks!sir,
We invite you to come/visit our showroom to audition NAD elctronics and PSB speakers: Hifi Plus Asia, Inc., Paragon Tower, 531 A. Flores St., Ermita, Manila. Tel. 526-3831
Will audition PSB Image B6 and Polk RTiA3 this week. Any feedbacks from the B6 or B5? Planning to buy the fronts first. Will be using Onkyo 608.
Just auditioned the B6. I really impressed with the clarity and bass. A lot better than Alpha imo. Medyo pricey nga lang so leaning towards B5 :) Next audition would be the Rti :)
Yup, malayo talaga siya sa Alpha. It's significantly better than the prior Image series din. The drivers are derived from the Imagine line (same crossover topology and frequency din), but the new Image leans towards warmth (versus the neutral-sounding Imagine speaks).
I think they're excellent speakers for the price. :)
Thanks for your inputs. Same price nga din sa RTIa3. Just have to audition the polks for comparison. Question... Malaki ba difference ng B5 sa B6? Medyo mas mura din kasi ;D. Plan ko lang 4 BS, 1 Center, and 10in sub.
Maganda rin yung B5, but you lose some volume. Kung di naman malaki yung room, then it probably won't be an issue (especially kung di mo naman isasagad). The B6 can also cross lower without causing response anomalies (about 10Hz lower), if that matters to you (the B5 will still do the standard 80Hz without issues).
Thats good to know. Medyo maliit lang room ko. Approx 20-30 sq m. and high celing nga lang. I was thinking of just getting the C4 instead of the C5 tapos B4 for surrounds. Hopefully maka audition na ko ng rti this week so i can decide narin.
Finally got the B6. What amp can you suggest? I loved it paired with nad. Now i want to know if cambridge audio 740a goes well with the psb. Too bad 5th ave doesnt carry psb. Has anyone heard of ca+psb combo?
I have Imagine Ts coupled with the 840C/840E/840W. They work great, but if you prefer the PSBs with NADs, the sound with CAs would be quite different. :)
Beginner (Razel) has a pair of B6es hooked up to the 550C/550A.
It's best if you can bring your speakers to 5th Ave to test (to know for sure if it fits your preference).
Hi Stagea. Just came from 5th ave and brought my b6. I was able to hook em up with the 550a and 650a. I found the 2 amps to be on the bright side compared to the nad 315/326.The exterior was really nice though :). I listened to Rush, Primus, and Clapton. I guess its going to be nad-psb combo then. Will there be a big difference if i pair the nad 326 with the ca 550/650c? read some negative users reviews from the net the other day re nad cd players. Anyone here using nad amp+ca cpd?
I'm glad to hear that you have found the match that you want.
Yes, NAD CDPs sound quite different from CA CDPs. Instead of the 740C, the C565BEE might be the CD player that you're looking for. :) It's also an upsampling player with a s/pdif input.
I think the 565bee is around 30k+. My budgets 25k for the cdp. When I went back to Watts hifi to listen to the b6-nad combo again, I noticed that they were using rega cables while 5th ave were using the thinner cables(i think generic). Is this one of the reasons why the CA 650 sounded thin/bright to me?
Just got y PSB Image b6. Don't know if this is compatible with my pioneer VSX 919AH-K, but I'am enjoying the clarity and neutral sound of the speaker. I would like to thank Sir STAGEA and Master Nelson for the advices on the speaker selection and subwoofer subject. ;D
NAD + PSB is sweetMatch made in Heaven ... as they are from the same owner. ;D
@ Sir cls
re: cdp
if pre-owned is an option, you might want to consder the Arcam CD73T posted in the marketplace for 14K. To my ears the CD73T is a nice, warm, smooth refined sounding CDP. The local distributor (AVDI) used to sell them at 50K srp. And if you really prefer NAD, I believe Sir reymer is selling a C542 for 11K.
Good luck on your CDP hunt!
On PSB speakers
I've recommended to friends here in Nueva Ecija Image series speakers (one got the older B1, while the other got the more recent T45, B15 and center speaker) and they really sound great at their rpice point.
I'm finally a PSB owner! I got PSB Image B-4 to match with my Dayton DTA-1. I'm actually using this combo to watch cable TV since the sound of the current LCD's are quite pitiful. From my Skycable Digibox I connected the RCA out to the Dayton amp. The sound is wonderful!
Hi Conan! Nice to have met you kanina sa Watt Hifi.
The Image B-6 sounded quite good when I heard it at Watts Hi Fi. I also listened to the Synchrony floorstanders with a movie playing and they sounded superb, of course the price is pretty superb too! ;D
The 1st time i heard PSB speaker I was very impress on how it sound kahit bookshelf (PSB Alpha B1). Kaya ngayon looking forward of owning one, bukas I will give an update on how a PSB B6 sounds using the yamaha dsp-a1 and onkyo 606..and hopefully it will still sound good sa Onkyo since nabenta na yung yamaha. ;D
With my Onkyo 608, the PSB B-4's midrange sounds so good, it's so smooth! ;D In fact I'm still considering switching to an all PSB set-up because of the way the B-4 sounds.
Just continue evaluating them bro. The more you hear them with varied material, the better you can judge if the output suits your preference. :)
The Mezzo2... now that's going to be another story as I've yet to own one... better get one as well... ;D
Conan,
Try to take off the speaker grilles and have the psbs face you directly. Re-evaluate the highs to see if that sounds better for you
. :)
Sir Ronald (buzzworth) just got the B6s a while ago. Let's wait for his impressions as I haven't really heard the Image series with Onkyo.Bro Russ.. thanks again for a very smooth deal. 1st thing I did when I got home is to connect the PSB B6 to Onkyo606. 1st test, watch the David Pomeranz and Friends concert..and iba talaga, I really love the way the speaker sounds. Right now, testing it sa audio naman, jazz and vocals and it is really very detailed...overall, it is a good match with Onkyo606...ayoko na i-test sa Yamaha baka magulo ulit ang isip ko.. :)

I took off the speaker grills and swapped the PSB B4,s position with the Klipsch RB 61 so that they would be a bit nearer toward the center and the Klipsch would be farther. Well the unintended result was that the Klipsch's sound quality improved again! The mids, the highs and the bass improved, it's not even fair to compare them against the B4 anymore.
I'm thinking about getting Alpha B1s as my rear surrounds or should I forget about it and aim for higher models? This review seems to speak very well of them

They are great speakers for the price. However, unless you intend to replace your other speakers with PSBs, then matching your front set would seem to be the most logical option imho.good morning master ivan :) ah ganun ba? i think i have to stick with my missions :(
I agree, they're great speakers for the price. Though I'd say, if you like how it sounds, go for it. Since you'll be using it for your rear surrounds, you can enjoy your mission fronts for the meantime without having to think much about matching issues with your Mission LCR. You can then decide later on if you really wanna go the all PSB route.
I have a pair of PSB Image B25's... that i use as my office system.
Very good sounding speakers. Currently paired with a BADA Purer integrated tube amp and it plays very good music, If i do say so myself.
Will probably let go of the PSB's, as I recently purchased a new set of speakers... but, will have to test the new set first to see which one i will retain.
It all depends on which pair gives me the sound that I am looking for.
rgds,
Noel
Ayun o. Good suggestion din. Pag di mo nagustohan yung PSB, edi mag Mission na lang ulet sa surround back then donate mo samin yung PSB.
Kung nagustohan mo yung PSB, palitan mo yung Missions.... then donate mo samin yung Missions. ;D
Either way, you still win Idol Gerard... because you get to have what you really want... ;D
Hehehe donation ang usapan dito. E mas mayaman kayong di hamak sa akin. Ako nalang maghihintay ng donation from the 2 of you :)
Just got an Imagine B from Rex. Will break in and post feedback. Salamat Rex and Amiel.
NAD 326 bro. NAD 515 cdp.
Just got an Imagine B from Rex. Will break in and post feedback. Salamat Rex and Amiel. Thanks Atty..We appreciate your business with us. ;)
Love the soundstage and bass. You can actually feel the effect of the speaker enclosure on the sound. However, I am tempted to upgrade the amp to provide it more juice.
Had a chance to compare the Imagine B with the Aurum Cantus BS and Monitor Audio BX2.
Imagine B vs. Aurum Cantus BS using NAD 375 amp and 515 CDP
Imagine B vs. Monitor Audio BX2 using NAD 326 and 515 CDP
Ecosse speaker cables
Cal's ICs
No offense to owners of other brands but I like the Imagine better. Not only because I own a pair since I also have the BX2 (I'm a big fan of MA) and I somehow like the looks of the Aurum. I think the Imagine has more body than the Aurum- mas buo tunog in layman's terms-probably because of the Imagine's cabinet. It has better detail in the mids and highs than the BX2. Perhaps the RX2 will be a better basis for comparison. I will try to get my hands on a pair. Surprisingly, it can match the bass of the BX2 despite its smaller woofer.
Maybe, the NAD Aurum or NAD BX2 is not a good match.
Anong model po ng aurum cantus ito?V3M
Auditioned a few speakers today. And the PSB Imagine T stood out among those I listened to. Definitely ranks up there on my speaker wish-list along with the Focal Stella Utopia EM and the B&W 800D.
Mukhang humakot ka na ng speakers ah. :)
fanboy lang master. nangangarap lang na sana magkaroon ako ng psb. kuhang kuha ng imagine t yung hinahanap ko sa audio. wide sound stage, forward sounding without being too aggressive. airy and crisp highs. and it's explosive--- as in sobrang lakas ng dating.Meron ka na nga eh. Kamusta naman flagship gear mo?
kaso nung nalaman ko yung retail price niya na P80k+, nasira ang mga pangarap ko kasi hanggang pangarap nalang talaga siya. kaya kapag nagsawa ka na master sa imagine t mo, please reserve it for me ;D
Meron ka na nga eh. Kamusta naman flagship gear mo?
Si Roy demonyohin mo na din. ;)
Cheap lang to for you, Master Gerard. Platinum T8 Master Gerard Signature nga binili mo eh, special creation and delivery ni Paul Barton. :)
Pero happy din ako sa Imagine T. It does what it does very well. It doesn't play very loud, nor does it play low (it behaves more like a big stand-mount speaker with free stands). It's neither very easy to drive, nor is it imposing in size or build. It's not made of exotic materials, and could not not boast of ultra-extended highs.
What it has going for it is neutrality and resolution in the range that it covers. It provides a very clean and low distortion sound. I'd be hard pressed to name another tower speaker that delivers better linearity in this price range.
Just in case you're wondering, may Imagine T2 na din. If you look at the driver config, you'd know that it got some technology from the Synchrony line.
PSB spreads their LF drivers widely along the front baffle to reduce the effect of floor and ceiling reflections by taking advantage of PLDs to those surfaces (instead of controlling vertical dispersion, as with a traditional d'appolito array). The lower-mounted woofers roll off sooner to prevent them from affecting the point-source effect at higher frequencies (and preventing the floor reflections from ruining the sound).
Meron ka na nga eh. Kamusta naman flagship gear mo?
Si Roy demonyohin mo na din. ;)
What do you think of PSB subs master? particularly the Subseries 5i?
Go for the Subsonic 6i instead, it's got legitimate output to 20Hz, I tested it with test tones at Watts Hi-Fi. This chart is old so I think the SVS PB12NSD already made improvements since then:
Try the HD10 idol... bagay sa big time condo mo... Hehe!
ayun, thanks for the info master. nakalimutan ko yung exact model ng sub dun kina sir rex :) and i was able to listen to it using the test tone you you lent him. impressive nga. walang ka-effort effort yung 20Hz.
looking at the table, nice performance vs the pb12nsd. it looks like it's more powerful but the svs can consistently go lower. and yeah, since the new pb12nsd are using sledge amps these figures may change. thanks for this data.
i guess the real advantage the 6i has would be it's excellent pricing vs the svs. mukhang good value for the money siya. plus the aesthetics doesn't hurt either. hopefully it comes in dark cherry! ;D
sir Stagea, nasa magkano ngayon yung PSB 6i sub? Baka matuloy na yung all PSB setup :)
The 6i appeals to me because of the great bandwidth uniformity (it's flatter above 25Hz) and substantial output (4dB higher on average is not small), while retaining decent extension. It plays louder and flatter than the other pounders from Infinity, Klipsch and Paradigm, while delivering 20Hz output close to the SVS.
sir Stagea, nasa magkano ngayon yung PSB 6i sub? Baka matuloy na yung all PSB setup :)37k srp nito sir..
Agree with the 6i perfomance. The most obvious advantage of the hd10 is with the output to footprint ratio. In which case it will not pose a problem for small listening areas.
At Watts HiFi the subs are still labeled as "Subsonic" which differs from the web site of PSB. Maybe for Asia they are named differently?

try to audition it and compare with more mainstream brands. i'm sure you would still be surprised how good the B6 is. probably the best one in it's price level. :)
I'm a PSB Speaker Lover too..hehe
Image B6 as Fronts
Image C5 as Center.... :)
Congratz Brader Gerard...heeh :)
I'm just curious. I Have yet to hear a PSB speaker kase :) yung highs and midbass?

Lalo na kapag naka beryllium tweets. i'll just compare the entry level focal chorus vs the psb imagine series due to my familiarity with the focal aluminum tweets and my extensive auditioning of the imagine.
for focal, highs are a lot more extended and sweet compared to an imagine t. it has an airy crisp sound which I think is a focal trademark.
sa psb naman, it's more dynamic and has more presence. a bit forward but not aggressive. has a wide soundstage compared to having that focal airy feel.
midbass wise, i haven't listened to a chorus tower yet so i guess this isn't a fair comparison but focal's polyglass drivers are known to have a polite midbass sound. so it's tight without any overhang. for psb, the midbass is strong and pronounced.
;)
Thank you bro. I'll sir Arn kung pwede kong mapakinggan yung psb setup nya :)
Good choice Master Gerard! ;D

PSB spkrs and NAD do they go together well? For a 326bee which PSB would be suitable? Price and where to buy? I like vocals and classical music tia mga experts!

If you are near the makati area, Watts Hifi in Makati Cinema Square carries them. Sobrang bait pa ng mga may-ari nun. They will let you audition almost everything to your contentment. Plus he gives out the best prices pa. You can PM otep_32. ;)
For me the 326bee and psb image b6 works very well together. If want more bass, try their floorstanders. Their Image series are very easy to power. The 326bee is capable enough to power the T6. I even tried it with the Imagine T. The latter combo blew me away. :)
She heard the Atom 7 and liked it hope the PSB will prove itself.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_range (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_range)
"There is a difference in sensitivity of hearing between the sexes, with women typically having a higher sensitivity to higher frequencies than men.The vibrations of the ossicular chain displace the basilar fluid in the cochlea, causing the hairs within it, called Stereocilia, to vibrate. Hairs line the cochlea from base to apex, and the part stimulated and the intensity of stimulation gives an indication of the nature of the sound. Information gathered from the hair cells is sent via the auditory nerve for processing in the brain."
if she's into audio, i'm sure she will enjoy her time there :)
::) Totoo yan amigo! She heard the Atom 7 and liked it hope the PSB will prove itself.
Watts Hifi also carries Paradigm plus many other brands. She can go there and compare to her heart's content :) The 326bee should also be available there, so you don't need to bring your amp anymore to know how the pairing with each speaker would be. :)
Well I decided on getting the PSB6 Image just one query are the speaker binding posts banana? If they are pin type does anyone know where I can have my speaker cables wired? Thanks for all the tips in helping me arrive at a very sound decision. The watts hifi price was 350 pesos lower, but am gonna spend that much on a taxi going so I just got mine at SNS shang less the traffic of Makati. Yun nga lang ala masyado PR hehe maybe coz I was just plain.
;D

Congrats on the B6 Sir Matt! Great choice! I hope you are enjoying those awesome gears right now :)
Still have to pick them up ala pa stock kahapon. Are the binding posts banana?
yup. the binding post can accept banana plugs. please share your review once you get it. :)I finally hooked up the PSB6 with my NAD 326BEE. Well what can I say? ENJOY ;D ;D ;D! Contrary to what others may say these speakers are not bass shy at all. Love it so much for my classical/jazz/vocal music. A perfect match indeed for NAD! Now planning on the PSB 300 subwoofer for movies. Thanks Stagea and sientobente for your valuable advise mabuhay po kayo! :)

Yup the B6 has pretty decent bass performance! ;D I would save up for the Subsonic 500 though.
thank you bro rex a.k.a. otep_32 for d audition yesterday also d audiophile cd's.sayang kulang lang s time hindi ko ntry Psb sub.,hopefully next visit maka2rami n ako n hakot... :)sobra accomodating talaga s watt-hifi nag enjoy rin s bayaw.Ist time ko mka visit s shop yesterday
500 must be good but I'm going for the cheaper SS300 which is powered by NAD just the same cguro. :)
or B25 w/ TT REGA 1...ok na kaya yung yamaha 2600 or may igaganda pa pag ibang ampli. ;)

I also plan to pair my image b6 with the NAD 326. I just wonder if the difference in sound quality will be noticeable if I go for the 356 (I mean is it worth the price difference)
Listening area by the way is small and I don't plan to play it too loud naman.
Hope the PSB owners can help me...
Thanks

Watts Hifi carries Yamaha master. So you can audition a PSB+Yamaha combo. Ako iniimagine ko maganda ang pairing niyan, since yamaha has some warmth similar to NAD. Plus I consulted Ivanpedia, those are StageA certified gears ;D
May smaller model which naman, which is the B5 or the Alpha B1.
@Carp
Master Conan is right, a 326BEE should do. I auditioned both the 326bee and the 356bee tested with 2 different sets of speakers(PSB T5 and Imagine T), sa totoo lang wala akong marinig na difference. Ang naiisip ko lang na scenario is probably the lower model would clip easily on extremely loud volumes.
I think you would feel and hear the difference when you try the impressive NAD 375BEE
Thanks Bro, i'll visit Watt Hi fi for an Audition he he he.. Possible upgrade before end of year.. Ipon mode he he he
If malapit ka master sa antipolo area, you can audition my set kaso jologs ang sub ko ngayon tapos ibang avr din ang gamit ko :D
Hi sir/s, I need advise again.
I've been reading about reviews on 326BEE and i read that it is toned towards the warm side. My question is if I pair it with my Image B6, will I lose detail (or is it the case)?
Will appreciate any comments on this...
hi mga bros, ask ko lang roughly how much is a new pair of b6 imagine bs speakers?
They're a perfect match, the sound will be warm but detailed.

Thank you, Master Gerard. That was the KEF iQ70. It actually sounded better with the Musiland 01, in a configuration that you weren't able to hear. It was certainly enjoyable, pleasant and reasonably detailed, if a touch warm. The 01 and the 03 carry different sonic signatures. As with any system, synergy matters more than each individual component. We tested the 01 after you went upstairs.
Break-in period for my NAD 356...woohoo!!!! I don't know how to describe the sound...I would say makapal and malambing if that's even the right way to describe itWelcome to the club the PSB6 with the NAD is just to good to be true eh? ;D
I know the 326 would be just enough for my Image B6...kaya lang when I had the chance to listen to the Imagine B sa shop, sobrang sarap pakinggan (in other words, as early as now that I am enjoying the image b6, I'm already wishing for the Imagine B...sana may magbenta sa marketplace ;D ;D :D)
Thanks to sir Stagea for your advise

Congratulations Sir.
Musta kaya tumunog ang T6 using a Yamaha receiver?
Thinking of a future upgrade..FS for fronts naman para maiba..
Sabi mo nga "collect then select." ;D
Lent ngayon master, bawal magsingungaling :D
@Courage
What I like about Yamaha was, I never heard a setup which was bad powered by a Yammy. StageA also has a Yamaha AVR and a PSB Speaker set ---- true story ;) not sure though if he was able to try them together coz he has so many setups and has different mansions scattered around the metro.
Thanks brader... bago ko i audition yung Yammy at T6 bisitahin muna kita one of these days...
Sa puwede mag audition ng PSB with 5.1 or 7.1 HT for movies? ;D ;D ;D

Sa puwede mag audition ng PSB with 5.1 or 7.1 HT for movies? ;D ;D ;D

Guys, any personal experience/comments on the PSB Imagine Mini? Would appreciate any inputs.
To be positioned about 5 feet apart with near-field listening position around 6 feet away. By the way, if it will be paired with NAD 356 integrated amp, will it be too much considering the recommended power handling of the mini is 80 watts?
Thanks in advance...

Better ask Razel na lang, Master. Siya ang meron ng mga ganyan.

Listened to the Imagine Mini earlier. What can I say? IMPRESSIVE! It's so small. Just as big as an Image B4 but has a bit more depth. It was powered by the 356BEE and the people in the listening room thought it was those PSB floorstanders being demoed. Bass was freaking awesome for it's size. Highs have that sweet sounding sibilance. Then it gives you enough punch to fake you into thinking the sound was coming from bigger bookshelves. Try it out @ Watts Hifi Makati ;)
Brader na compare mo ba Imagine T vs Image T6?
huli ka....PSB mode,,, lurker mode ako hahaha
Will do sir. Medyo malayo lang pero I'll make time for that ;D
Ganda pala doc ng iyong upgrade plans! :)
You should hear a Subseries 300 it is not as punchy as a Subseries/Subsonic 6i but goes a little bit deeper. ;D Perfect for those who want "gapang" bass. :)
I think it will depend on your preference. The 300 is smaller than the 6i if you care about the size and also lighter by 1.4 kgs. If you view it side by side you would think that the 300 is just a 10 or 8 incher sub.
As I posted earlier the 300 goes a little bit deeper but the 6i is punchier.
The 300 is using NAD designed amp while the 6i has a BASH amp.
300 has 300 Watts, 425 Watts, 850 Watts (Continuous, Dynamic, Peak Power) while 6i has 225 Watts, 325 Watts, 650 Watts.
For me I would get the 300 for the same price and even if higher by 5%.
Try both as it could be used at the same time and decide for yourself. :)

Master Conan,
I believe the 6i goes deeper than the 300 based on specs alone. The new PSB subs tend to be more for music because of it's tightness and accuracy. I'm planning to run this with the test tones you provided Rex to see if the specs were just underrated. I'll post my feedback as soon as I have it :)
Rex just told me that the 300 is now available for demo @ what hifi mcs ;)
How is the price compared to the 6i?
@praktikal
master, both ports on my t6 are just straight ports.
first time ko lang kasi makakita ng ganung port sa speaker. :-[
baka mini sub sya master kaya naka L-port :D
naloko na! hahaha!
Yup based on the smaller enclosure I have doubts that the 300 can match the 6i. Does Rex already have the 300?
Got to listen to a fresh out-of-the-box 300. Size wise it's almost as big as the 6i. So I tried to use it for movies first, really can't find any difference between the two. Now came the test tones. 20Hz, the 6i definitely has more power around this area. The glass windows and doors of What Hifi were shaking. While on the 300, you barely feel anything on 20hz but the sub excursion was already going mad. Maybe 2 of these can equal the 6i's prowess on 20Hz? Then i tried 30hz on both subs. This is the area where the 300 excelled and kicked the 6i's @ss. It was louder and better defined. Haven't gotten much of a time to test the 2 for music though, maybe on my next visit :)
Anybody here paired the Image T6, C5 and B6 with a Yamaha Receiver?
What Hifi has a Yamaha 771 + T6, C5 and T5(for surrounds :o ) setup in their showroom. The AVR was fresh out of the box, hardly configured anything in YPAO, but the special effects of the surround system were accurately amazing. As I recall, the yammy tends to sound warm but you wouldn't believe it's pairing with the C5. Vocals were crystal clear and precise. At one point, we forgot to turn the sub on, I could have sworn a sub was present with all the explosive effects from the movie that were playing.
I'm sure results would even be better with your highend avr :)
Hahaha! ;D Try niyo dun master, napabilib nga ako sa yamaha + psb combo and wanted that 771 really bad kaso lie low muna ako kasi nabigyan na ako ng uppercut ni kumander dahil sa mga luho ;D maganda dun kina rex, you can try other brands as well like paradigm, b&w, monitor audio etc. which is on the same price range so you can compare.
Thanks bro... I PM'ed na sir Otep.. he said aayusin nya daw for me.. Baka this Friday mag visit ako dun... he he he...

hi guys ano marerecommend niyo na psb bookshelf that would match well with nad c316bee?
im going to use it for pc audio kaya sana medyo maliit and sub na din
PSB Image B6/B5/B4 + Subseries 200 or 125.
Nandito pala ang mga PSB Lovers...hehe
Muzta na naka T6 Bro Gerrard... :)
Cguro after 3yrs of ipon mode makakabili na rin ako nyan..hehe
regards sa lahat!!!
cheers!
thanks brader i'll check the reviews
Depending on your room and placement, you may get some bloat with the B6 + SubSeries pairing. Kung maliit yung room or malapit yung speakers sa wall, consider yung B5 or B4.
malapit sa nga sa wall, i'll use it 80% music and 20% gaming
di ba bright ang b5? im also considering b&w 686 which one is better
Sir Pau_Da_Mann, nice meeting you last Friday.......Sayang nagmamadali ka ata that time sana naka pag kewntuhan pa tayo....
I don't find it bright. Listen to it and gauge for yourself.

I'm sure Synchrony yang pinagiipunan mo master pau :)
wala palang controls ung SubSeries 200
Nasa harap ang controls niya.
I'm sure Synchrony yang pinagiipunan mo master pau :)
lalong malabo yung synchrony Brader Gerard yung image T6 nga hnd kaya eh...hehe
congratz and cheers mga Braders... :)
naku! brader maraming maraming salamat.... :)

Uy Congrats Master Jason on your new set :) Kamusta pairing with the aventage?
Wow nakasetup yung separates ni xerex(sir rex) sa mcs? must hear nga yan. kagandahan sa T6 natin master, madali siyang i-drive. Masaya na yung T6 ko just using a 326BEE. ;)
Eto bagong kulam.. Narinig ko pa sya na nakakabit sa
NAD C 165BEE Strereo Pre Amp
NAD C 275BEE Stereo Amp
NAD C 565BEE CD Player
REGA DAC
Napaiyak ako ha ha ha ha... Langyang Raider kasi yan sabi ko wag na namin ikabit sa NAD.. kaya ayun....Dream Audio Setup tuloy he he he
Maski yung C375BEE at C565BEE lang maayos na yan. Essentially C165BEE and C275BEE in one package yung C375BEE with some changes lang. The C565BEE can work as a DAC kung may ibang sources ka pa.
Good fundamentals for the price point. Above it kasi madami nang ibang options.
C375BEE

C316BEE

As you can see, dikit dikit yung 316, 326 at 356. Big step up yung 375 from the lower models.
Have you heard the T6 with 375?
Thanks for your impression sir Stagea :). I make sure i read your impression before i purchase any equipment, so basically you helped in the kulam process he he he..
Try niyo Master yung Musiland DAC, having the equalizer adjustment on the software is amazing. It enables you to tune the sound to your liking :)
Eto ba yan bro?

Better internals and features, essentially.
We also distribute yung PC-based models locally (Musiland Monitor series), kaya meron sa Watt Hifi, MLY at Hyper Audio.
What i experienced there is the Rega DAC which is very expensive, ito ba ang cheaper alternative from the Rega DAC?
The Monitor series serves a different market, as it's PC-centric. The Rega DAC is more of a general purpose DAC.
Do ask Rex to demo the Musiland Monitor models for you, if you have the time.
Thanks sir Stagea, on my next visit i will do that...
Another question, i want to use the PSB T6 for HT and Music as well, but i want to use a different Amp for the T6 when playing music(NAD AMP, DAC, Music Streamer). Is there a switch or something i can use para the PSB are connected to both system then the switch will do the switching kung mag music ako or HT? I'm just talking about the L/R Fronts of PSB so di kasama sa switch yung center and surrounds. For stereo listening lang talaga.

i personally use one of marcrenz' switches for that same purpose 8)
Master, why not use the pre-out from your avr and connect it into the the main-in of the integrated amp? and then connect your DAC to the cd-in on the same int amp? Para isang cable connection lang going to your speakers. Yung problem lang na nakikita ko sa ganitong setup is, may volume control ka na sa avr, meron pa sa int. amp which may be off on your YPAO calibration pero madali naman ayusin yun.
Regarding the Musiland DAC, pwede na ito
(http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Musiland-Monitor-03-US-USB-sound-card-32bit-384KHz-/00/$(KGrHqV,!icE4uULLJ9,BOR+SYKBqg~~0_3.JPG)

Sobrang laki ng difference if you are going to compare a regular 3.5mm out vs a usb dac using a PC. This setup saved me a lot of money by skipping on buying a dedicated cdp. Yun lang convenient ang dedicated cdp because of the remote and quick startup as against a pc.
Eh kung two separate system controlled by a switch, pwedeng patay yung isa pag di ginagamit.. :)
I'm just so hooked sa Audio right now grabe... KASALANAN MO DERICK.. I told you not to connect it to the NAD separates.. GRRRRRR >:(
Naka-on lang master both yung avr and int amp kapag naka HT ka. Kapag music, yung integrated amp lang ang naka-on plus your music parapernalyas like cdp/music streamer/dac/pc. The rated power consumption of the NAD 375BEE(150wpc) is 290w. That's using full volume. On the average, usually masaya na ang mga tenga using a 9 o'clock gain which is probably just 1/4th of the power consumption. This also saves power on your avr to fully utilize its watts for your other speakers like surround and center.
And it's not really that difficult to calibrate. You can actually set the volume of the integrated amp on your normal music listening volume and then let ypao do the adjustments from it. Yung importante lang is you would always know the accurate volume/gain position of the knob on the integrated amp so it doesn't overwhelm your movie watching.
Ganyan ba configuration nang setup mo bro? Mabisita ka nga minsan.. he he he
Kaso di yamaha gamit ko but an old denon 2307. Kaya gusto ko sana nung yamaha 771 because it has more hdmi-in plus it sounds amazing with psb :)
Pwede ko dalhin int amp ko dyan sa inyo so you can try it out ;)
Aba aba aba.. magandang idea yan he he he.. Set natin bro... ;)
weekends ako available master. dalhin ko yung nad pati yung cambridge so you can compare ;) add nadin natin yung musiland para sa kulam ;D
Pwede!

Actually dun kami nag kita ni Pau last friday he he he...
cheers!!!

Pwede din switch na lang sa main in nung integrated amp to select between pre-out ng AVR or pre-out ng integrated amp. This way, hindi na dadaan sa preamp nung integrated yung output ng AVR. :)
Salamat din po sa libreng plug. ;D
Naguguluhan ako kung pano gawin yan....ha ha ha.. im such a noob he he he

Master Ivan,
Is this the same as this possible configuration: Denon AVR 4311 L/R pre-out > NAD C175 stereo power amp > PSB speakers?
OR will the Denon AVR influence the sound more?
Master Arn,
Rex can probably help you out kung balak mong subukan. :)
Naguguluhan ako kung pano gawin yan....ha ha ha.. im such a noob he he he
Para walang influence yung AVR mas maganda kung naka switch talaga right?
Line level selector switch lang that feeds the Main In of the C375BEE. It will select between the preouts of the C375BEE for music mode and the AVR's preouts for movie mode.
That's the only non-invasive way if you don't want the AVR to influence the output in music mode *AND* still skip the C375BEE's preamp when using the AVR (movie mode).

Ah yes, yung C275Bee. ;D ;D ;D
Pag ganyan, the emo xpa5 will power the center, rears and surrounds, with L-R powered by the C275, pre-amp mode young 4311.
Wow..
Is there a difference in SQ if powered by EMO yung speaks vs powered by Denon itself? Na compare mo ba bro?
Saan nakakabit yung speakers, dun sa C375EE?
Yes. The power section of the C375BEE will always be driving the main speakers. Yung switcher is to select lang between the preamp of the C375BEE or the preout ng AVR.
The switcher will be inserted in-line along the Pre-Out 1 to Main In loop. The switcher will choose between Pre-Out 1 or AVR as the source.
Audio sources will hook directly to the C375BEE's line inputs (or modules, if you're using the optional phono and DAC modules), while video sources will go through the AVR.
Thanks, Ivan! Gets ko na. Hmmm, interesting. :)
You're welcome, sir Arn. There's no harm in trying. ;)
To prove that the C375BEE's internals is the same as the C275BEE, NAD actually recommends the use of the C275BEE to augment the C375BEE when running in bridge mode (if you really need the headroom). One side would be powered by the C375BEE, while the other would be powered by the C275BEE. NAD claims over 400WPC in this configuration. Vertical and Horizontal Biamping setups are also possible with the C375 + C275 combo.
The C375 alone would do just fine in most cases, however. The price is a steal, as you're essentially getting a C165BEE equivalent for almost nothing (the C375 is priced just above the C275). The MDC DAC and PP 375 expansion modules can be added when a need for them arises.
Specially your Imagine T2's...
Imagine T ata yung kay Master Arn. Bagong labas lang yung T2 eh.
Yung NAD C390DD interested ako marinig. The C390DD is the baby M2, much like how the C375BEE is the baby M3.
Nag upgrade na sya sa T2. He posted it sa Gallery nya he he he...
Small speakers, big sound :)
Try nyo Imagine mini. Really small speakers, but the bass was unbelievable. It fooled me to thinking that the bass were coming from a floorstander.

Specially your Imagine T2's...
Oh wow! Galing naman! Di ko pa narinig yan T2. :) Congrats Master Arn!
Last time I checked, the C375BEE DAC isn't available yet even it's MDC DAC. The one locally sold is the regular C375BEE with the NAD PP375(phono) MDC. As soon as the MDC DAC gets released, you can install it on the extra slot at the back of the amp.
The NAD product I'm waiting for is the C546BEE. :)
NAD + PSB = FTW! ;)
So walang C375BEE dito na may DAC pa and di pa available talaga yung module, even sa US?
Probably it's already available in the US but I wouldn't bother that much on that MDC DAC upgrade on the C375BEE. The MDC DAC is priced at US$250. With that kind of price, I believe you can buy better performing external DACs like a Musiland 03.
Mahal he he he....
im sure after few months pareho na kayong meron nyan...hehe
just PM me Brader jayson kung tuloy tyo this weekends...
regards sa lahat... :)
Im currently using a NAD 326 for my Imagine B. Im looking for more clarity, soundstage, instrument separation, and bass. Can you recommend an amp for my planned upgrade? Apart from the NAD 375, what other amps can I consider? Preferably same price level as the 375 or cheaper. As you may know, the Imagines are 4 ohms.

Sir Stagea, it is toed in such that the sweet spot is 10 feet from the speakers. I do not know the angle. Sabre metal stands. Im using a NAD 515 CDP, Ecosse MKIV speaker cables, Cal's ICs and Yaquin CD2. Speakers are 2.5 feet from rear wall and 3 feet from side walls. This the maximum placement. Also using a streamline conditioner. I just feel that the speakers are hungry for more juice. I do not play very loud. Usually 9 o clock at the volume knob is sufficient for me. Will a more powerful amp give more detail and clarity at the same volume?m
Well, Ashley mentioned that he recommends at least a C355/C356 for the Imagine B. The C565BEE and the C375BEE are great with the Imagine series, in my experience. However, if you're a full-time analytical listener then you may want to try another brand for your source and amplifier. NADs aren't the most revealing gear, but they make a good balance for most people. Higher model NADs will give you more authority and improvements across the board with more or less a similar house sound. If you're looking for a different sound, then you should start cross-shopping and auditioning your other options.
Start with the basics. Take out the tube buffer and the power conditioner to eliminate extra causes/sources of compression, noise and distortion. The system should be likable at this level, or there is likely something wrong with the matching. Roll whatever ICs and cables you have to get closest to the sound that you're after. You can also bring these with you to your dealer, to simulate your setup with the same gear. This way you can switch between what you have and what they have just to open up possible options (ICs, speaker cables, amps and sources). Once you're back home, fine-tune your toe then play with the tone controls (yes, they can be useful in some systems).
Once you nailed the best combination for your gear, listen to it for sometime to see if it's enough to satisfy you. At this point, you can try adding back the other things that you had in the chain, then carefully evaluate if they make a positive impact (or if they just change the sound).
After doing this exercise, you should have a good idea of whether you need new electronics (or whether you should be looking within the NAD family or from another brand altogether if you do decide to replace your electronics).
Thank you for taking the time to answer my queries sir.
Hi Sirs,
I'm currently researching as I would like to build my first HT / Audio system. I live in a condo, which limits my choice to smallish BS speakers. Would you guys recommend the imagine mini 5.1 (L, R, Surrounds with mini centre c and subseries 1) set-up to go with an Onkyo 616? It will be used in the living room / dining ~20 - 25 sq m. with 70/30 video - music.
I'm also looking at the Q2000i but I am not quite sure if they're available locally. Haven't seen sellers from this forum yet. I'd appreciate if you can give alternatives to these. Kindly point me in the right direction for auditioning these systems as well.
Thanks very much.
Neil
That's a nice set you are eyeing for. although the onkyo 616 is capable of driving those speakers, i believe it won't be able to maximize the potential of that speaker set. you can look at the imagine series, they are easier to drive. try to look at the b4 and c4 whose almost the same size as the imagine mini but more affordable :)

This lazy afternoon, I took time to listen to the Synchrony Two and I was blown away by the realism on these speakers. When I was in college, I was a member of the campus ministry so I get to stay next to choir and listen to them sing and sometimes have their jamming sessions. When I listened to these speakers, it sounded earily familiar. It's like I'm in the same room as the band. The instruments sounded very natural, the singer envelopes you with it's presence. The mistakes or mistiming of the guitar player were very audible. It's very transparent and can be revealing. It sounded really awesome! How I wish I can afford these :-[ Gears connected were NAD separates C275Bee + C165BEE and the C565BEE cdp. Speaker wires were Van Del Hul.
kaya mo yan brother ;) konting black magic lang hehe
naku brader, kahit magbenta ako ng kidney kulang pa rin pambili nitong synchrony ;D I just saw the synchrony two page from the psb website and it was tagged as natural musicality:
http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/synchrony/Synchrony-Two
now that's a tagline that is true as advertised ;)
Try the Imagine Bs. Cheaper than the Synchrony line but I like them better. Ang sexy pa ng dating. I can't let go of my Imagines kahit na Im currently using Dyns Audience 72SE. Iba pa rin resolution and clarity ng PSB Imagines. In fact, I like the Imagine Bs better than the Tower version when Rex and I compared them.
Hi guys,
Can the image T6 be driven to its potential by the NAD T748 or the Yamaha 771? Now looking at floorstanders as the BS will need stands anyway. Other suggestions?
That's really interesting. Yes, that's the next set of psb speakers I have to audition. I'm expecting the Imagine B's will impress me the same way the Imagine T's and Minis have.

Also looking at the Zensor 5 (fronts) - Zensor 1s (rear) and vokal + Denon 1912 combo. Your thoughts?
Will audition some time early September.
Thanks.
Yes the T6 can be powered well by the Yamaha 771. This exact combination is readily available in What Hifi. What I like about the 771 is the preouts so if ever you feel that you want to feed your T6s more power, you can add a power amp.
Dalis are interesting, still have to audition them. Price level wise, I think you have to look at Ikon 5s instead of Zensors to compare against the T6.
@resident_evil
Thanks for the offer Sir, yun lang nasa opposite side of the metro ako :) What amp and source are you using with the Imagine B's?
Rega Brio R, NAD 515 CDP, Rega P3-24 TT, chord silver screen speaker cables, furutech IC.
DOC your setup was the current setup kela rex hehe last time na pumunta ako to get your stands
ung cable lang ang hindi saka ic
mahal din ng rega brio amp hehe
want ko sana sya pakingan with rega dac ung imagine kaya lang nabili na that time ung rega
Wala na yung Rega dun?

That's a nice set sir :)
@Louie_18
Idol, halos pareho lang ang presyo ng Imagine T2 and Synchrony Two. If you are aiming for a very realistic live sound, the Synchrony has to be the best affordable(cheap for Don Master Louie's level) speaker around. As for the Imagine, the sound was meant to be more pleasing to the ears. Though they may have the same type of tweeter material, the implementation is very different. Just like Dynes with dome tweets across all their lines. Different sound for every level or model. ;)
Para kay Don Louie Synchrony One agad.. Di pwede dyan ang 2nd to the best... Dapat always the best,,
Ang balita ko a one-off PSB Diamond Signature Series ang hinanda talaga ni Paul Barton para lang kay Don Master Louie ;)
Hi mga sir,
Is it best to get an all-PSB setup including the sub? Or is it fine to get another brand for the sub? Im looking at Sub5i, but if its fine to get another brand of sub (better bass quality, same price) i would. Im kinda looking at a used SVS sub. Or best pa din to pair the psb speakers with a psb sub?

psb subs are great for music although if you are craving for the 20hz fix, it's not the right sub to purchase unless you get the subsonic 6i.
Pero di ba luma na yung 6i? Is this still available sa mga stores?we have one unit left of 6i.akala ko last na yung kinuha ni bartender.buti may isa pa natira sa distributor.idol ko pa nman sub nto ;D ;D

Di bagay sayo ang 200.. mas bagay yung 500 for you brader...
Ano ba sub mo ngayon?
pang mahirap na mirage. although nothing is wrong naman with the sub, i just feel na kahit dual pa siya mahina pa rin for movies. minsan nga nakakalimutan ko magsub using our t6 ;D
Im planning on getting the Synchrony one or two b. Is the one b a considerable step up from two b?
i find the synchrony series warm and detailed sounding, while the studio series is on the bright(er) side. they are both very detailed. i ended up with the synchrony one b ;D
Thanks and Cheers
Hi Everyone,
Baka may alam kayo na gustong bumili ng PSB speakers Image T45, Image T55, Stratus 6i Centre, subseries 6i sub and NAD T763. with original box pa, seldom used. big discount kung lahat kukunin, may kasama pang good quality cable and banana plugs. :)
It's better to post you items in the marketplace.

Great article Sir Arn! Enjoyed reading it. What I like about Paul Barton is his openness to reveal the build construction of his speakers. He and Nelson Pass are the best audio designers I admire. The subseries 300 pala can go 21Hz on -6db. Hope they would publish a frequency response graph about it :)
Guys, what is the brand new price for Alpha B1?
Panagarp ko yang t2 pang 2 channel audio.... Kelan kelan kelan he he he
For sure gugulatin mo kami Master Jason, by tom, meron na kayo nyan :)
Buti na lang Luis pangalan ko... Hehehe :D
Pero masarap nga yang Imagine T2 with NAD AMP >:D
Question lang mga Boss.
I "heard" that Direct Mode or Pure Direct modes on a AVReceiver can have better sounding Audio/Music. :)
What entry/mid tier receivers do you guys recommend for my Alpha B1? :D

For Music and Fronts in HT.
Thanks.

yeah. i heard the t2's playing with a nad 375bee a few weeks ago at MCS. Pretty good and damn sexy 8) The combo revealed the subtle differences between the Schiit Bifrost DAC, Rega DAC, and Musiland 03.
By the way, I found the Bifrost kind of thin sounding. Do i share the opinion with anybody on this?

master jason and i auditioned the psb imagine t2 last weekend(yes, hindi kung anu-anong bar sa cubao ang inaaudition namin ;D ), the difference in sound versus our image t6 was amazing, although we both agree the t6 isn't far behind specially in bass performance, what was really noticeable was the crispiness of those t2s. it also has a wider soundstage and it looks like it doesn't need any toe-in. the build too was awesome, it was really beautiful. the wood veneer finish was seamless and in dark cherry, the t2 is definitely captivating. maka-taya na nga sa lotto ;D
Hows the performance of bifrost vs Rega?
naku sir, aesthetics is second to sound quality. your synchrony ones are the bomb! ;)
In my opinion, its true when they say that the Rega DAC is 'Analog-sounding'. If I remember correctly, there was a sense of immediacy to the sound of the Rega in terms of soundstage representation.

I think Rega's after a certain "sound" with their front end components (whether we're talking about their CDPs, DACs, TTs/Phono Stages). I'd almost consider them "flat earth" because like Naims and Linns of the past, they don't measure very well. Many people do like the sound however, and that matters more in general.
Master, what do you mean by "flat earth" for Rega?
I'll be purchasing my 2.0 stereo system next week thru Rex of Watt Hifi consisting of :

Thanks for the reply brader Louie. I heard a lot of positive feedback regarding cal's interconnect.
Congrats in advance sir melbourne! :) the imagine b has two different finishes that I love, dark cherry and piano black. You won't go wrong with any of the two. My personal favorite is dark cherry, it fits most furniture finishes and should be easier to maintain than the glossy black finish. For cables and interconnects, I suggest you try the neutral sounding ones first to appreciate the performance of that nad+psb setup. When I say neutral, try a regular gauge 12-14 wire and a good thick generic interconnect then if you'd like to add color to the sound, you can upgrade. My impressions on the ff are: Sidewinder ICs and rega quattro speaker cables can add warmth, vandelhul clearwater speaker cables are transparent(not just in aesthetics), kimber cables adds airiness, xindak speaker cables can tame the HF. There's a whole lot more of available choices in watt hifi and that includes a wide variety of speaker stands to choose from. I'm looking forward to see that killer setup in our ht gallery thread. Again, congrats! :)
Nice review on cables and interconnects bro Gerald. Thank you for this information.Wallnut for me
For a cheaper alternative on speaker cables and interconnects you can try paolorenzo's cables...
i am leaning towards walnut or dark cherry color.
i am leaning towards walnut or dark cherry color.
Boss Arn, "flat-earth" is an approach to audio focused on subjective response. Flat earthers tend to do things a little differently -- like focusing more on the front end than the speakers, putting little weight on bench data, etc. The "tune dem" is an example of a classic flat earth practice, wherein they evaluate how a system "carries a tune" instead of focusing on technical details.
http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/FAQ_-_Tune_Dem (http://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/FAQ_-_Tune_Dem)
The opposite is the "round-earth" approach, which is the conventional and scientific/structured way of doing things. The aim is largely to deliver excellent measurements in every angle. Even subjective listening done in the "round-earth" way is technical in nature (with lots of emphasis on proper placement, sharp focus, projected stage dimensions, neutrality, noise floor, etc.).
Flat-earthers want "musicality" more than "fidelity," emphasizing that a music (aka Flat-earth) system sounds like music, and that a HiFi (aka Round-earth) system sounds like HiFi. Many round-earthers generally didn't consider flat-earth systems as HiFi, because they were very bothered with the "wrongness" of the output.
If we're gonna liken it to evaluating a car, the flat-earth approach is essentially selecting a car based on what makes you smile. The round-earth approach is selecting the one that delivers the best performance.
Flat-earth was coined because it's partly sticking with how things were before modern knowledge/techniques. Like how components were developed and selected before advanced measurement and design. It also references to the stubbornness of people who kept on rejecting the concept that the world is round.
In the past, there was less diversity in audio and very few companies (like Linn and Naim) championed the flat earth approach towards things. There was a time when many found this unacceptable and un-HiFi. Nowadays, the term is very rarely used as we now have a resurgence of products that incorporate flat-earth ways (NOS DACs, Turntables, Tube Electronics, Full Range Drivers, etc.). I actually see fewer and fewer purely "round-earth" HiFi people nowadays.
How does this flat-earth/round-earth relate to warm-neutral-bright?
Am I right in supposing that companies who aim for neutral components are round earth, like PSB especially for the Imagines? And companies like NAD with "smiley face" equalization are somewhat flat earth?

Perfect combo yan bro. Unbeatable. I have the dark cherry Imagine B. For the wires and ICs, Rex has Rega and VDH I think. Why don't you audition and choose one to your liking. Our bro Cal also makes very good ICs and speakers wires. I use his ICs for my office set up.

Oo nga brader derrick bibili na ako next week hopefully by monday, Problema ko nalang is kung anong speaker wire at speaker stand ang bibilhin ko and i'm ready to go.
Thanks atty. Rega at cal's speaker wires lang at the moment ang may access ako to purchase online.
I concur, PSB really shines with the NAD got chance to audition the NAD + PSB B6 last week in Festival Hi-Fi Lounge and they sound great for me..compare ko rin sya sa B&W 685 with NAD the PSB B6 sounds better with the NAD but still YMMV. ;)
Nice bro... set na set ka na... Sleepless nights yan.. pero ilang tulog na lang and youre in Stereo Heaven... Gawa ka na nang Gallery mo pag dumating para documented... 10 years from now pwede mo balikan kung san nagsimula ang lahat he he he PSB + NAD ROCKS BIGTIME....

Ah yun pala tawag dun sir. I guess thats what happens when the market let consumers cherry pick their amps, source and speakers. I actually listened to a podcast interview of mr. paul barton himself saying that its very silly that we pick our own components based on our tastes.
may nakita din ako dati sa youtube isang big time producer na pinakingan yung vinyl version of his work. his reaction was leaning towards being dismayed and said that was not the way he meant it to be heard. i wish i could remember his name or even the link. it was an audio expo in the US much like what we had here in Dusit.
I don't see this practice as wrong -- it's like judging something by flavor or visual appeal. In such a case, the purchase was not based on the quality of the sonic reproduction but based on the palatability of the rendition. It's often what people do to build an enjoyable "music system." However, I belong to the group that do not consider wildly colored systems as "high fidelity."
Alright, I guess one thing's for sure. Mr. Barton is a round-earther. Just hearing him talk all about psycho-acoustics and his design philosophies makes me interested in his powered speakers. Check out the new PSB Alpha PS1.

When I started this hobby almost more than a year ago my personal goal was to hear what the artists wanted me to hear. Its a good thing I am introduced these 2 camps, at least I know what to look out for.
Those PS1s are interesting. Looks like it's as small as the image b4 but has the finish of an imagine mini.

Hmm, Ivan, I may be flattening my round earth a bit more as I've recently replaced the Rega Apollo (which you heard before but with the Denon-Emotiva only) and partnered the Nad M3 and PSB Imagine T2 with a Cayin CD player! ;D ;D
Nice. Congrats Arn! I'm sure it's a great listen. What did you notice with the change? :)

Yes it is, Ivan. More detailed, considering the Apollo to me sounded detailed already. Overall more involving and musical with the Cayin CD17. Especially the strings, and the piano sounded more realistic, voices sounded more palpable and present, highs sparkling. Bass though with the Apollo seemed a bit tighter.
Actually what spurred the change is when I changed the Rotel 971 CDP in the living room to Cayin Cd50 to match the Primaluna Prologue 2 and SF pre-Home Concertinos. Strangely, I noticed that, while the NAD-PSB-Rega Apollo (and DAC) in the HT room definitely sounded better, I found myself wanting to listen more to the setup in the sala. So I home auditioned the higher end Cayin CDP and liked what I heard.
Sa totoo lang di ko pa alam. Naghahanap ako ng Musical Fidelity A308 na used, although I might have a go sa A300 in the market right now pag nangati talaga at kinulang sa budget. :D Thinking of getting a NAD din sana lang may lumitaw ulit na Masters series sa MP na used para tipid.
I agree. If I need PC speakers this would be on my shortlist. Magkano kaya and will the local distro bring it in?
master arn, seeing that the local distro-- hifi plus prices their psb products very well i can imagine it will go around the 10-12k range. ganda pala ng plano niyo on your audio setup, pwede sumama kay master ivanpedia when he visits your killer ht and audio? ;D

I just read the stereophile's review of the m3. Its power is impressive, it was reported that it can easily power those massive wilson audio maxx2 towers.
PANGIT ANG NAD M3... Kaya kung ako sa inyo.. Benta nyo na yan hi hi hi
Yup pangit yung m3. benta nyo na yan sakin muna haha. :)
Awesome! I'm glad that you found a good pairing for your T2s. :) I hope you give us a chance to hear those next time. :)

Nice bro... set na set ka na... Sleepless nights yan.. pero ilang tulog na lang and youre in Stereo Heaven... Gawa ka na nang Gallery mo pag dumating para documented... 10 years from now pwede mo balikan kung san nagsimula ang lahat he he he PSB + NAD ROCKS BIGTIME....
I heard this little guy kanina...
I was amazed on how this small can produce big sub sound...
Anybody has this here?
PSB HD10

i was able to audition that too, really compact and really expensive but can pull out big spl numbers O0
Hoy Elmira wala akong Audio setup... Kayo nina Luwela may mga separate setup kayo.. bigtimer kayo bigtimer.. he he he
yeah, i think most psb subs nowadays are after musicality compared to achieving bottom end performance. it's also evident on their new ported subs(200, 300 and 500). it makes integrating itself into music practically effortless. i think most of the cost in this hd10 comes from that dual radiator technology, kinda similar to don louie's highend golden ear speakers 8)

yung 200 at 300 lang. they are probably one of the best ported subs i've heard for music. it doesn't sound out of place. super tight(alam mo naman ang hilig natin ;D ), was lightning quick and has great definition. yun lang compared to the older subseries 6i, at 20hz, wala kang marinig at maramdaman.
Naiisip ko mukang masarap i partner yung HD10 sa Imagine B for Audio... Tapos DUAL wow...

Mas malakas yung sayo at mas madaming features..
Matigas to...
Thanks

Major improvment for me with regards to two channel listening SQ
Before
Yamaha Aventage A2000 + Rega DAC + PSB Image T6 + MF VLink II 192 USB to SPDIF converter + Laptop Source
Now
NAD C165BEE + NAD C275BEE + Rega Dac + PSB Image T6 + MF Vlink II 192 USB/SPDIF Converter + Laptop Source
I'm not saying na pangit yung before when i'm using the AVR to power my T6.. Actually maganda na sya and nag explore lang ako kung may igaganda pa so i decided to buy the NAD separates.
The NOW setup really made my T6 sing beautifully. Cant stop smiling everytime i hit the Play button..
Me and Gerard heard the 165 and 275 with Imagine T2 and it's just so amazing. Pero overall department lamang ang T2 but again it costs more than double the price of T6.. So i'll stick sa T6 for now and maybe longer... Planning to get another T6 next year for dedicated Audio... Ayaw kong tanggalin ang T6 sa HT kasi.. It just sound so good he he he...

rega and the mf usb
Perfect combo ang NAD + PSB. Galing. :)
Yup sir.. It's like they are made for one another... Will probably stay with this combo for a long long time..
Bili na bro di ka mag sisisi he he he... Pero bago pa 725 mo ah.. Ano speaks na gamit mo dyan?
Will the Imagine B work well with tube amps? or they prefer high current amps like the Dyns?
Cheers :)
As with most of today's speakers, they measure better with high current amps. However, a tube amp can still work if you like the character of one.
Rex might be able to help you partner them with Cayin gear (or you can bring your components for trial-matching).
My Imagine B worked with a 52W Yaqin but at moderate volume. Loved the sound.

Actually ang kasama sa Notepad eh NAD C565 BEE na CD player... eh since may DAC naman ako na REGA i choose to get the 515 instead para gawing transport and use REGA as DAC..
Dream come true for me.. suppose to be for next year dapat pero di talaga mapigilan ang lecheng ITCH...
Pa OT lang sandali since madami namang NAD + PSB users dito, what do you think about this review about the NAD 375 here: http://www.whathifi.com/review/nad-c375bee/specs medyo negative yung dating eh.
I might end up getting one kasi by the end of the month. Di na ko makapaghintay to get the Musical Fidelity.
psb teammates good afternoon.
i finished 1 project this year, my 2 channel set-up = imagine b + cayin hybrid h-100. nung narinig ko yung h-100 sa audio amplified di na ako nakarating ng MCS for the NADs.
yung ht set-up ko sa masters bedroom, i am planning to change from 5.1 to 2.1 to declutter. ask ko lang which is better, for this purpose and for 80% music and 20% movies, Image B6 or MA BX2 or something else (around 25K), prefers warm sounding speakers? please recommend. TIA! O0
Master, as per ivanpedia the nad 5 series(315,325,375 etc) sounds better than the 6 series(316, 326, 356) because the highs in the 6 series is a bit tamed. This was also evident on my 326 vs my ca 550a where the latter has a better extension in the hf.

Baligtad, master. I prefer the voicing of the 3x5 series, since everything sounds more integrated (especially when matched with older PSBs like the current Imagine, Synchrony and Alpha products). The 3x6 series works well with the new Image series, as those are voiced to work with the 3x6 models.
so master that means in hf extension cambridge > 3x6 > 3x5? but yeah a wider hf extension doesn't necessarily translate to a better sounding equipment. gear matching pa rin O0
All have good extension, but it's hard to prevent a mild emphasis in certain frequencies. Old NADs had strong bottom end response, with a very mild but audible rolloff in HF. This, together with their good dynamic reserve made them act like big amps when it comes to transients and give off a fairly forgiving sound. A lot of other brands have the same thing going on in one form or another.
NAD tried to go for a more neutral character with the 3x6 series, but the change just didn't come out to my preference. The extra sparkle sometimes sound a bit artificial to my ears (a bit out of place), as the midrange still lacks the bite of an aggressive-sounding amplifier. They're still good amplifiers, I just find the 3x5 models more coherent from top to bottom, especially when partnered with the Imagine line.
The current Image line is voiced for the 3x6 amps on the other hand (afaik), which can make them sound a tad dark with 3x5 components.
AND we're back with discussing the Alpha B1s :D
Any tips on how to remove the Grills?
TIA.
Reviews vary, especially since it's largely subjective. Try it and see if it works for you.
From a measurement standpoint (based on Primedia's numbers), it's hard to do any better at this price.
I think the 375bee review from WHF was just bad subjective taste (and possibly looks).
WHF is about subjective reviews (listening tests). They very rarely measure stuff nowadays.
Imo, they have shifted from a legit HiFi publication to something closer to T3. I'm not even sure how much time they spend with each particular product nowadays. They do have good people there who really care. I just think that the magazine is going this direction to survive. I sure hope that they don't end up like Top Gear in the process (more entertainment, less information).
I thought you are gonna say WHF is like FHM in reviewing gears. They'd better focus on featuring more skin in their mags than add substandard reviews in their pages ;D
I've been doing good this year so Santa left something for me at my doorstep.

Warm.. and relaxing without loosing details.... Di sya tiring pakinggan malakas man or mahina ang volume... Addicting sound..It's nice to know that they are warm. Long listening sessions will be made if the sound is non-fatiguing. Bright speakers are fatiguing. So since they are warm, are they good for vocals?

As far my reading goes, American and Canadian speakers like Paradigm, Klipsch and so with PSB are bright sounding speakers, forward sounding, more on treble side while European speakers are dark sounding and laid back. What is something with NAD that it turn the PSB into warm sounding and engaging speakers? I am expecting that the sound will be bright like Paradigm.

I'm sure you'd find them hardly similar.
hi, tanong ko lang kung ano mas babagay na amp for psb b25,nad 316 or yaqin VK2100 .i listen mostly to vocals, light jazz and some pop music.thanks
It's time to audition the NAD & PSB combo.

same feedback, i used nad, cambridge audio, onkyo, denon and pioneer on my T6. warmth was evident on all 5 amps.

yup sir, bagay yan plus i'm sure peanuts lang kay 609 to power the t5. :) my old 608 can power my t6 very well even in "thx" reference level decibels. the t6 was measured to have a 91db sensitivity, i'm guessing the t5 may even have better sensitivity than that. so yeah, that's going to be a good combination.
tanong niyo din si master jason what he thinks of his polk rti. ;)
Di ko narinig ang Polk on an Onkyo receiver.. I can only speak for it with a Yamaha receiver eh..

Hello friends, before anything else, let me give my thanks to Sir Rex aka otep_32 of Watt Hifi for giving me the chance to audition a PSB+ NAD setup yesterday 11am. The setup was the entry level PSB Alpha B1, NAD C326BEE amplifier + NAD CD Player as source. My own impressions are: The sound is very similar to my Grado SR60 headphones, in fact I could call it as Grado SR60 version of speakers but with a few slightly differences namely: (1) The highs are more tamed on the PSB speakers (2) the midrange is more forward on Grado SR60 but not that much, making the PSB more balanced sounding
If I could bring home the setup I've audition then I could be able to share already the sound of music I am listening daily on my Grado SR60 with my family.
You may ask, what is Grado sound? Grado is an American headphone which is considered by some headphone audiophiles as the gateway drug to audiophile sound. It has a forward midrange, sparkling highs, has right amount of bass. Its negative to some headfiers is the highs sometimes could be piercing which lead to a fatiguing sound. Sometimes I only have short listening sessions on my Grado because sometimes my ears get easily fatigued.
When I auditioned, I was surprised and ask the assistant of otep_32 to verify if the center speaker is having sound. He answered only the bookshelf speakers are creating the sound. This is where the magic of speakers positioning. My headphones could deliver to me the sound through left and right ears, not in front. I was really really amazed when the music was playing over the pair of bookshelf speakers, the singer was simply located in the middle where the center speaker was placed. The singer really came alive out of these speakers. This is what speakers can do that headphones can't. Through headphones I am only listening but with speakers, I am not only listening but I am also experiencing. This is the magic of speakers!
O Holy Night by Celine Dion is smoother on PSB speakers. Though Sir Rex said that the speakers were played for a few hours only and so with the NAD amp. In fact I was satisfied already, hence more satisfaction after full burning. Really it pays to have a room meant for music listening. The equilateral triangle position is very important. The combo sounded better with male singers. Jed Madela and Barry Manilow voices are really fantastic. They can tell the story of the music. Wow! Deeper impressions will follow after I've own a setup already at our home. Please watch out for it guys.
Thanks otep_32 for accommodating me and so with your assistant. ;D
The PSB Alpha B1 really performs beyond its price range.i agree.......
Very nice review sir.... I bet you're very excited to bring that home... Ilang araw ako di makatulog nung ako yung bibili he he he...
A few weeks ago sinama ko ang Dad ko which just arrived from the states.. He was amazed with the NAD PSB combo... hinawakan pa nya yung center speakers kasi akala nya dun nanggagaling ang sound he he he..
Courage, let me tell you that we checked 4 times just to verify if the center speaker is included in producing the music. I let the assistant of otep_32 checked it for 2 times. He said it is not. I asked "Are you sure?" Then I checked it for myself cos I am not believing him. I checked it for 2 times for me too. I was really surprised with it. It was new for me. That situation made me really happy and excited. Impressive speakers. ;D

One of the kulam masters... Well the psb's dont need kulam.. He he he...
ibang lebel ka talaga idol, those are really nice gears you are aiming for. lupit nung m51 dac --- 35-bit 844kHz DAC, ngayon lang ako nakakita ng ganyan. plus pwede na pala siyang preamp. nice!
Yup.. maganda nga yan... Just simplifying my setup... Gusto ko mag all NAD PSB setup he he he...
Mga sir is there a big difference between the psb image b6 and b5? Interns of sound and price?

The PSB Alpha B1 really performs beyond its price range.would love to hear the psb alpha b1 / nad combo...
would love to hear the psb alpha b1 / nad combo...
Malaki ba sound difference ng Imagine T vs the Image T6 for HT? ano mas okay?
congrats sir. what amp did you partner it with?
The Image T6 will definitely have an advantage in the low-end. But the Imagine T will sound a lot more crisp and engaging. For HT, I'll vote for the T6 because that bass area will be better appreciated in that application but for music it's the Imagine T for me.
Went to Watt Hifi yesterday...sarado. Sumilip nalang ako sa salamin. Ganda ng PSB!pareho tayo bro...was there around 4pm..
Na-try ko ito na combo, NAD 316 and Alpha B1. and yes maganda ng combination ng dalawa para as entry level.
Slight warm to bright ang tunog nya using iPod Classic (lossless file), LOD to 3.5mm connector. although kaya slight bright yun tunog dahil rekta yun speaker wire sa Amp and speaker. pero kung gagamitan ito ng CD player at magandang banana plug, Sulit na sulit...
rated for the price value
Sound-stage - 3/5
Separation - 3/5
Vocals - 3/5
Low's - 3.5/5
Thanks pero real wood veneer din ba T6? Sexy ng Imagine T eh. I'll be using 2 subs with it so bass won't be a problem. Still will go with the T6 even with dual subs?
Sir, i dont think banana plugs will make your system sound less 'bright'. You can use the tone controls of your amp to suit your liking. My 60-watt Rotel was able to drive my psb synchrony bookshelf effortlessly, parang nagsisi nga ko binenta ko pa grrr nangati lang ako magpalit.
Guys other than NAD pala, what other integrated amps do you think can drive our PSB speakers well? I am asking this because I am in the market for one. Budget is below 80k only.

Thanks

I dont doubt you or your little girl, most probably may change siguro yung sound kasi pareho kayo ng napansin but the way i understand it is that banana plugs wont make you system better, it "may" change the sound and its usually for the worse because there is another material in between the wire and the speaker binding post. sabi nga ng experts, the best connection is the most direct one, so the lesser material the signal needs to go through from the receiver/amp to the speaker the better.
baka naman po nasabi nyong bright ang direct wire kasi mas maraming detail, mas emphasized or angat yung highs and when you used a banana plug, nawala yung detalye na yon. tama po ba intindi ko?
or you may have been pre-conditioned to expect changes, just like what some salesmen do to sell power cables. they tell you what to expect, hence you hear it even though it 'may' not be there.
I'm choosing between the T2 and the T. Also, im planning to use the S5 for rears para makatipid magkakaproblema kaya? Moreover, are the Imagine series available in gloss black or walnut in Watt Hifi?

Wow, that looks like a nice speaker cable, what are those sir? about copper vs silver, silver has a higher conductivity than copper which may show what master timi was saying that details are laid out better that made them appear bright. Copper on the other hand might have been cutting certain frequencies due to a lesser degree of conductivity and that made the sound a bit more balanced by removing excess clout making details appear better. ;)

Wow, Mag-Imagine T2 ka na sir. If ever kayo lang ni Boss Don Arn ang meron niyan sa Pilipinas :) For HT listening I don't think that will matter if you are going to use the S5. I'm using an Alpha for my rears and it integrates well naman in surround listening. Best example of surround effects is when I play EA's Fifa in Xbox, where the crowd switches from each speaker if I move the controller around. It was seamless and smooth.
Regarding the color, What Hifi can always order from the local distro, Hifi Plus. The colors I saw personally on the Imagine where Dark Cherry and Piano Black. Among the colors available, I still prefer Dark Cherry because it's attractive, classy and will be easier to maintain than Piano Black.
nalilito na ako... :) Royal cable po, 14awg oxygen free pure copper.
Many thanks po pla sa lahat ng comments, I am still noob on this kind of hobby.
I share master Gerard's opinion po about copper and silver properties, though i never thought it would be applicable to banana plugs, but it is a conductor so maybe its also applicable. I dont think i could have explained it better than what is mentioned above so with that i hope you have a better and more informed purchase.
By the way, you mentioned hifi lounge so i am guessing that you are referring to the one in alabang yes?
Pareho lang po tayo na marami pa pong matutunan sa hobby na ito, which makes it a very interesting and enjoyable hobby :) Regarding the cables being oxygen-free, that property was supposed to make cables free from being fire-hazards since without oxygen, fire will die out. wala lang napakwento lang hehe ;D
Thanks sa input master...
naku hindi po ako master, makulit na troll lang po ako dito ;D anu pong source ang ginagamit niyo on your psb setup?
Sharing po some pics:ganda talaga ni dark cherry! ;)

ganda talaga ni dark cherry! ;)
sa source po is it a cd player, ipod, pc etc. this can also play a big factor on the audio quality lalo na if you are very particular in details ;)
Nice speaker you have there, kamusta ang pairing with rotel? From what i read kasi rotels are on the brighter side. But i dont own one so i have no real opinion on it.

@hshaun05
nice review master. i believe the rotel @ 40w has good enough power to feed the B6 because the image series has good sensitivity ratings. i'm sure the 04 and the 06se won't have that much of a difference in terms of sound quality and will just retain that signature rotel house sound you hear from your amp.
looking forward for your next reviews ;)
Thanks!
sa acoustic panel master, may sound absorbers at may sound diffusers. some use them in tandem. just like don master nelson's room. diffuser covered by absorbers. the logic in this setting was because his first layer can probably just absorb around 50% of the frequencies passing through it. when the sound gets through, the diffuser in the 2nd layer will do it's job to reflect the the sound back to the first layer effectively reducing unwanted reflections. maraming techniques master in room treatment, dami ko din pang dapat matutunan. yung sa akin na psb setup, carpet lang na walang silbi ang room treatment ko ;D

Im sure you know this but try to move around your speakers too, baka room acoustics nga lang yan.
Guys do youthink the Musical Fidelity M3i would be enough for a PSB bookshelf?
What particular sound/aspect are you looking for ba bro for the PSB? In short, ano ang gusto mong ilabas nya na tunog? The guy who got my Imagines earlier brought with him his NAD 515 and I was surprised that it could drive the Imagines. I used to drive the Imagines with my NAD 326 in our dining room and I felt it lacked juice. Dining room is full of glass doors, hard flooring, echo. The NAD 515 was used in my office. Carpeted flooring with walls and ceilings that do not reflect sound waves that much. Soundstage and punch were definitely lacking using the 515 but it could still drive the Imagines.
By the way, there is Musical Fidelity store just behind Watts Hi Fi. Why dont you ask Rex to lend you a pair of Synchronies and bring to the other store so you can audition.
That depends on the model and your listening demands. The M3i is a smooth and clean amp, but it has a weak power supply and a high output impedance.
thats what im thinking too. but i just saw a review stating that the m3i was enough to give justice to a TAD CR-1. i called DMC and stocks are arriving by feb. im definitely going to check this out.
now what sound am i looking for? nothing exotic/fancy actually. just clean sounding, without much compression, with the instruments clearly laid out in the soundstage, i also want to play loud without strain. The NAD 375bee is definitely on the top of my list but im looking for other options before i commit.
:o i just cant understand how NAD can sell their amps at these prices. i mean look at those innards! the m3i is about 70k and the 375bee is about 50k-ish only i think. totally blows my mind how nad does it. they are both manufactured in china...
you guys might see me hanging around MCS by the weekend ;D
How much po ang C375BEE at RCD-06SE?
I think the c375bee cost less than 60k. not familiar with the rotel pricing though but maybe it's close to the ra-06se price. you can pm otep_32 for inquiries.
i was just going through a different website and i didn't know psb makes funky-colored enclosures O0
(http://www.studiowerx.com/PSB/NewPsbAlpha.jpg)
Very limited options. Sana man lang may black.
was that the info hifi plus asia gave you? i personally saw the piano black finish on the imagine bookshelf before, haven't seen an imagine t2 on any other color than rosewood/dark cherry though. this is quite ironic, since i want hifi plus to bring in rosewood/dark cherry colored subs :(
Only inquired from Spectra and Watt Hifi. The T2 is only available in rosewood / dark cherry color. May I know the contact details of Hifi Plus Asia?
Here it is sir:

Hi,
Now I understand...
always happy to help sir, and marami pa dyan sa mga paligid na mas magaling pa mag explain sakin hehe, they are but a PM away, Mikee is definitely one of them. As for our old banana plug discussion, that was my suspicion and I guess after hours of listening to your system you were able to confirm it for me.
As for your wire upgrade, Usually, the bigger the gauge the better it will get (up to a certain point). Although personally I have not gone more than 14 awg.
ako din nun tumaas ako from 14awg to 12awg, then try ko pa yun biwire. 14 sa HF 12 sa LF, both pure copper. lumaki yun soundstage at kumapal yun bass.
Thanks
nice. makapagexperimento nga din. wanting to try out that rega quattro bi-wire speaker cables to see if there will be any improvement against my chord silverscreen cables.
More often than not master G ealng improvement ang bi wire kasi isang amp lang naman nagpopower, bi amp is a different story though.
More often than not master G ealng improvement ang bi wire kasi isang amp lang naman nagpopower, bi amp is a different story though.
master timi, comparing the cables, gauge 16 lang ata yung chord silverscreen, while the rega quattro is gauge 14 and is a bi-wire cable

mukhang maganda kasing value for money itong rega, which will make me wanna try it soon.
Well kung sa quality eh maganda talaga si REGA, may kamahalan nga lang last ako nagtanong, i think its 500 ata/meter. As for the gauge, kung hindi ganon ka haba Master baka wala karin manotice na difference, this link is a good read.mas mura yan ng di hamak sa what hifi in mcs *wink* *wink* kaya bili na hehe
http://www.audioholics.com/education/cables/speaker-cable-gauge
oo nga po nag basa din ako sa Bi-amp / passive. daming rules, dapat daw bypass din yun Crossover dahil walang effect kung hindi gagawin. sa akin nmn po. using Rotel, naisip ko kasi dalawa yun speaker input A + B @ 4ohms. yun LF sa speaker A then yun isa nmn sa Speaker B. yun iba kasi magkapatong lang yun wire sa dahilang isa lang yun Speaker input.
Tama po kayo sir, may speaker a and speaker b, but unless there are independent power supplies, it is claimed that the result will be the same. Pero syempre, our hobby is subjective and if you heard the difference sa system mo, then thats excellent. :)
Hahahaha. Give it a try and ket me know, kung talagang malupit ang difference try ko yan. By the way, check mo naman master G kung tama ba balak ko gawin, since i have a power amp all of my speakers are connected to it via pre-out, and now that i want to try bi-amping, i'm going to connect another speaker wire to the receivers fw/sb terminal and set the receiver setting to bi-amp.wow, may bagong 5 channel power amp ka na master timi, congrats! tagal ko hindi updated sa pdvd dahil sa lecheng trabaho na to.
regarding your plans, i believe that should work but just to be sure, i'll try that later when i get home tonight. i'll let you know the results.
It can damage the amp in some cases, lalo na yung mga medyo sophisticated ang protection mechanisms.
I think the real wood veneer finish starts on the Imagine upwards. If I'm in your position, without skipping a beat I'd choose the Imagine T. It's on a whole different level. The clarity, the crispiness and the finish, it's really amazing. The only thing you have to remember though, the Imagine T may be harder to drive than the Image T6. The T6 can be powered fine even by entry level AVRs.
Master, what about trying Cambridge Audio? like the 851a. I think that fits very well beneath your allotted budget. I have a CA+PSB pairing although it's a much lower end one but it works very well. It has retained the warm sound signature PSB has while being able to extend further in the HF than my NAD amp. Don Master Ivan has the highend version of my CA + PSB lineup. ;)
Master, how about Image T5, B5 and C5 powered by onkyo 616 ok ba ang outcome or palitan ko B5 with polk audio Fxi a6, preference will be 50/50 music and movies
salamat po for your inputs.........
Finally got the B6. What amp can you suggest? I loved it paired with nad. Now i want to know if cambridge audio 740a goes well with the psb. Too bad 5th ave doesnt carry psb. Has anyone heard of ca+psb combo?
@onkyo616
The 616 can definitely power that set you are eyeing. I have an older 608 and it doesn't lack any dynamic power needed when I watch movies on my T6. The image line's above average sensitivity really helps.
Hi Sientobente,
Will this T6 will have enough bass during power up on this onkyo since for now my budget allows only 5.0 set-up, sub to follow na lang. And how much do you think this T6 cost in cash....
Thanks again....

i've been looking for a dark cherry sub(to match my speakers) for a really long time. now i've given up, the criteria i want in a sub now would be something that is musical and can still shake your house and bother your neighbors if you wanted to. i've found this balance in the psb subseries 300.
there were a couple of tests i did to know if this was really a musical sub. first i tried a smallish bookshelf like the psb image b4 and used the subseries 300 to do more than just the regular lfe duties. i crossed the sub to 150hz, then played the usual stuff i listen to. viola! integrating the sub was seamless. those miniature bookshelf speakers sounded like large floorstanders, the stage became wider and the bass beats were precise and tight. it even offered more definition on the vocals. it really impressed me seeing that a ported sub like this can offer the accuracy we usually reserve for sealed subs. i also tried other speakers from rega, paradigm etc., and each one of them had the same effect which was a pleasant surprise.
for movie duties, based from ht lab measures, this sub can do 20hz on -6db. which is great! tried out the usual movies famous for their LFEs like tdkr, ironman 2, the incredible hulk etc. and wow, the details i'm looking for which i only use to hear from a different 3-letter sub, can be reproduced by these. i also loved the room interaction psb had in my bedroom. It wasn't as choosy on the location I position these subs to unlike my previous and other subs.
overall, i already found what i wanted and needed on a sub--- flexibility. the features aren't bad too. it's powered by a NAD class-D amp, so we are assured of the technology running into these babies. Spec-wise, it's a 12-incher than can do 850w of peak dynamic power which should be enough power to shake your house on those sudden movie explosions you enjoy. plus it's built sturdily too.
i know psb subs aren't really a popular choice here in pdvd, but yeah it's still a 3-letter sub ;D and i would encourage everyone to try it out! here's to wishing it comes in dark cherry :(
Aba kailangan mo ipadinig samin yan master! Kailan ba? Dadala ako ng chicks, este chips. Hehehe
master timi, tara dun sa bundok eb ni mother elmer, dalhin ko to(kahit mabigat) so we can compare it with her svs ;) i'm sure dehado sa spl to but it will be a fun shootout.

yep master, i'll post my findings from that get together sponsored by queen elmer. it has a wide audience too so we can gather their feedback as well.
i now have to prepare my muscles, hirap magbuhat ng sub ;D ;D ;D
Pag makakasama ako dalhin ko naman yung isang Klipsch RW12D para ma test din he he he

Yeah congrats on your new t6 sir :) tago nalang natin sya sa codename na appamus :D
Ha ha ha ha...... Balita ko ikaw Gerard ang mangkukulam eh...Naku di ako bruha(witch), i think sir appamus bewitched himself when he started to listen to psb ;) very nice value for the money actually O0
Hi again my fellow PSB users, but have the more expensive models. ;)
I am currently contemplating in just getting a Stereo Receiver (probably a NAD or an HK3390) vs. getting an AVR that has True-HDs(Dolby and DTS-HD etc) like a Yamaha 473.
It will be paired with my Alpha B1s.
I say I am already satisfied with only DTS and Dolby using my very outdated HK AVR134 for movies BUT I am not satisfied with my Music listening with it.
Question, will I be equally "satisfied" with an HT/AVR(e.g. RX-V473) with Music vs. the NAD/HK stereo receiver for my Music?
Just a note regarding my NAD vs. HK dilemma, I'm leaning on the NADs since its easier to justify it with the Missus. The NAD models looks thinner, and I already have an HK that kinda looks like the HK3390, so she wouldn't ask me why I need two Amplifiers. EHEHE.
Budget is 20K to 24,999 TIA. ;D
*De Ja Vu, I think I already asked this somewhere.

Dapat next month pa to but.. oh well, kanin at asin nalang muna for now :P
Thank you again ;)
Congrats brader on your new T6...That is one amazing speaker... Nag iipon pa ako for another T6 set he he he......
nah, seriously, wala ako speaker wires as of the moment kasi kakabalik ko lang nung rega wires so tahimik muna cya, baka bukas pa ako makabili so titigan nalang muna kami ngaun :(
Ung rega quatro :)

kahit na anong wire basta copper, pwede dyan sir...maski power cable or diy na cat5 cable... for the time being muna nman. kesa sa magtitigan kayo 2....callinggcalling elmers........
Nice! Those are the cables I'd like to home audition too. Makadalaw nga kina Rex :)
Yes, sir.
kung medyo tight ang budget, CAL'S CABLE is your answer... >:D >:D >:D
nakow :)
+100 regarding Cal's cables...
I'm using them right now sa audio speakers ko and trying one sa center channel sa HT...
You could really hear the difference... ;)
San kaya makakuha PSB headphones?I think you can get that from amazon or crutchfield. read the reviews on those m4u2s, and it seemed like excellent headphones but I find too expensive for $500. I also saw comments about it not being comfortable because of the clamping force and also found issues on it's build where the headband has a tendency to crack.
share lang ako ng audition kahapon. was looking for a BS for my office about 4 sq meters, tested about 4 brands and 5 models. it was with psb that i felt (ramdam) the sound. it went down to B6 vs B5. IMHO, B5 having less lows had a better balance among high, mid and low. in terms of SQ, B5 is not very far from B6, the same qualities, the same path. only difference in SQ is due to size. both are bang for the buck, very PSB.
Thanks Amiel and Rex for the audition, highly recommended sellers... :)
Nice review brader. You can never go wrong with PSB speakers. Rex is also very accommodating when it comes to audio needs.
Just got the B6 kanina... :) lakas nga ng bass. Had to adjust and turn off the Tone Defeat. :)Congrats Master! :)
Congrats Master! :)

Good choice. :)
You can try that combo from there. My impression on the s500 is, its similar to NAD with good bass weight. The sonic character may be a bit brighter though but not fatiguing. And as far as I remember it also has a forward sound which would add to the already forward and engaging sound psb has.

Haha OT pero I cant help but notice the "Wade please help us" banner >:D
But yeah. Id vouch for the NAD PSB combo. I was initially a Rotel guy but it was not the impact I was looking for. IMO my upgrade (or sidegrade) to NAD made the music more involving.

By the way, which specific psb model are you eyeing?
My first choice was rotel1520 and B&W685 combo and I end up getting the NAD375bee and PSB Imagine B. It was a blind purchase because I have not heard from this two combos before making the purchase since I don't have the luxury to audition the gears in manila. I only rely on the reviews of Master Gerard and Courage on the NAD and PSB combo which made me decide without second thoughts to go on this route. All I can say is that I am very happy with my decision and truly NAD and PSB combo rocks! With the addition of SVS SB12NSD subwoofer to boost my cravings for bass, my audio nirvana takes me up to another level. I would describe it in one word as "Superb".
Yep. Pero namimiss ko parin tunog ng B1. :)
Foe further feedback, Courage owns a yamaha/psb set while Beginner has a marantz/psb combo ;)
hi Sir sientobente, thank you for the reply, the image B5 model is the one i like.
im also looking to add a sub to my system. how's the inegration naman ng SVS sa imagines mo sir?
TIA!

Nakasama ka ba last sat?

Hahaha daang matuwid na brader.
teka kailan nyo ba plano?...waaaahhh!!!
PSB - Pang Star Bucks

PSB - Pang Star Bucks
Kaya tayo mahilig dito.
napakadami daw bagong barista.... :)
At first, I am not satisfied with the sound quality to a point that I am planning to sell it in the MP. After a lot of tweaking on the cut off settings, phase adjustments and sub placement, my patience was finally rewarded. I now believe that a sub can truly supplement an audio system if it is done right. My PSB Imagine B speakers and SVS SB12nsd integrates flawlessly and the sound quality is at its best. My only gripe is that SVS SB12nsd sub does not have "high level inputs".

yeah yun nga eh walang high level inputs. may ganyang sub rin ako dati to supplement my dynaudio. sinuko ko nalang yung sub hehe. yun lang pala kulang dati, patience. wala ko nun eh hehehe. im gonna try 2x subs na kasi para sa synchrony ko for music lang.
Ang PSB sub series meron high level inputs at ang balita ko is very musical daw ang sub na ito. You can ask master Gerard about it. PSB sub series 300 yata ang gamit niya.Yes, i think all PSB subs have highlevel inputs even their entry level like the subseries 125. My subseries is very musical for a ported sub. Mine is a 300 but I find the 200 effortless in integrating into music.

If you'd prefer a good sealed sub instead, there is the lovable HD8 or HD10 that has dual passive radiators which can really go loud despite their compact dimensions.
how much score mo sa subseries 300? I had a hard time integrating an SVS sealed sub dati to my stereo, kaya medyo may trauma na ko. Pero i think it was because due to the lack of my experience :Dbro francis try mo REL..
Enjoying my newly acquired Image T5.:) thank you Watts hifi and Rex

brader review nmn ng T5, balak ko din kumuha nyan... hindi ko lng alm kung same sila ni Mission MX4... 4k up kasi si T5 in terms of price...
Very pure sound. Malinis. I like the extended highs and palpable sweetness. I enjoy listening to it specially the audiophile voices CDs.
When I had my PSB Synchrony paired with the Rotel 1520 I found it nice sounding too but with treble bite that is fatiguing over time. I switched to the NAD 375 and it resolved the synergy issue and everything is well.

did some weekend cleaning today. tinabi ko muna sila.

Yes sir. Hopefully makakuha pa ng isa by next month :D
Wow! dual sub pala ang target mo brader. By the way, what's the sonic character of Synchrony One B compared to Imagine B?Very transparent ang Synchrony master. Close your eyes and you'll feel that you're in the same room as the singer.

Hmm. My audition with the imagine b was really short parang 10-15mins lang, and may katagalan na yun so take this with a grain of salt.
I found the Synchrony has a more refined treble. It makes the Imagine seem brighter although, both are designed by Paul Barton so one would assume that they are both designed to be flat. The Imagine B is something that you would consider warm-sounding already after all it was compared to a Harbeth by a Stereophile reviewer. The One B also has more bass, more punchy, and goes lower due to cabinet and driver size. The mids is cleaner with the Synchrony IMO. The Synchrony One B excels in imaging and depth perception too, I mean like crazy man!
BUT Ang nag trigger sakin bumili ng Synchrony One B was when I compared it to the Dynaudio Excite x16.
Nice and very detailed review of Synchrony One B brader. I am convinced that synchrony one B is definitely a way to go for an upgrade to my Imagine B. Pa-pm naman kung magkano ang discounted price na bigay ni Rex sa yo?naku may sars ka na brader hahaha
naku may sars ka na brader hahaha
You can get another set of B6 or can go with a smaller model like a B5 or B4. An Alpha B1 also works well, this is what I use as surround speakers paired with my T6.
^ so far wala akong nakikita nagbebenta ng used SubSeries 300 sa MP.Bili ka na master. I never dreamt of upgrading or replacing mine. I only dream of adding another one. Sulit na sulit. A highly flexible sub that can make you feel not just hear those heavy bass scenes. Very clean sounding and has good room interaction. Integrates well into music making the sound stage larger than it is. It also performs very well in terms of decay and tightness for a ported sub. An added advantage is the smaller footprint it has compared to its competitors. :)
Inaabangan ko nga ehehe.
Do psb speakers match well with tube amps?
Questionable lang sakin yung source siguro(mac).
I think the questionable part is that they were running iTunes (afaik). Amarra or Audirvana would likely deliver better results.

The setup was still satisfying to listen to, imo.
+1 on source
I have tested on my T6
Popcorn hour C200 via Coaxial + Rega DAC + Nad 275 + Nad 165
VS
Laptop Jriver + Music Fidelity VLink 192 via Coaxial + Rega Dac + Nad 275 + Nad 165
Using same FLAC Files side by side Playing just changing the Input source on the Pre-Amp..
Ang layo ng difference between two sources while all other things are equal..

I do believe that too. The 375bee is very revealing of sources too. I can easily distinguish the differences between a Nad375dac, musiland03, and a musical fidelity v90. Kaya nga plan ko nalang is get a real good dac either naim dac v1 or nad m51 in the very near future :)
NAD M51 - Dream Dac ko to he he he...

I am also planning to get a DAC but I don't know what brand to buy and I don't know if it fits my budget.
HEHE. :-X
;D
Yun originally plano ko, get a Rega DAC ang be over with it. Kaso naisip ko mangangati ulit ako nun and i've been planning on going separates din for my amplification.
When you revealed to me the price of this mighty DAC my enthusiasm suddenly disappears hehehe. I have a lot of questions in mind regarding DAC before deciding to get one.
Brader kung malapit ka lang sana.. Pinadinig ko sana sayo ang REGA he he he
Padala mo nalang sa akin brader hehehe. Kinukulam mo na naman ako. It's because of you that I got my NAD and PSB combo in no time but I am very happy with it. Seriously, I am considering this DAC.
ANg mahal ng 2 options mo he he he.... Sa pangarapo ko lang options yan he he he... Anyway i'm sure matagal kang liligaya alin man sa dalawang option ang piliin mo... Pero boto ako sa NAD kasi NAD addict ako he he he
Teka ano ba gagamitin mong source?

Brader, Source ko kasi is Laptop and NAD CD Player.. yung entry level..
Flexible kasi laptop, i can play any music and as much music i want without worrying on CD's.. Yung CD player ko naman, i use on a few collections that i have.. I use more my laptop as i have around 40k plus collections on FLAC, MP3, APE and WAVS.. I also have some 24/96 and 24/192 files that i use for testing he he he
Ha ha ha.... Muntik na ako mag attempt na kumuha ng M51 but checking with what i have... i'm more than happy with the result SQ wise so di ko na naisip mag spend ulit for upgrade.. Simula nung na kontento na ako di ko na ulit naisip gumastos sa Audio he he he...
Hoy Derick,
Nilabas ko na ang Audio setup ko sa Sala.. so i'm using my T6 for Audio and using my B6 as fronts for my HT. Tapos surrounds, i'm just using those surrounds that came with Mini compo... yung Back surround ko dati nung nag punta kayo he he he... Panalo pa din... Thats the reason i'm looking for stands for my B6
Aba eh mag Synchrony kana brader!!! >:D
Aba eh mag Synchrony kana brader!!! >:D
Wahehehe.. Side by side comparison mas gusto ko tunog ng T2 he he he
Sir Synchrony B vs. Image B6?
Hehe anlayo siguro .. pati price. :)
For me Synchrony is too realistic, too transparent and too hifi for my taste. My wallet can't afford it too ;D
Synchrony is neutral.. Image is Warm...
Synchrony has a lot more detail, realism and sounstage.. Though di naman papahuli ang B6... But just imagine the price difference he he he....
If Synchrony is neutral and Image is warm. Whats the sonic character of the Imagine brader?
In between... Just the way we like it he he he.......
Meron kasi HDMI.
Sonic character ng imagine master is warm and crisp. Synchrony, bigger sounding while being very transparent.

Ganyan di sakin nun. hassle. I had to clean it with glass cleaner.
punas-punas lang yan sir, kaso ingat you might damage the rubber.
Hello, sir armymanhaha. oo nga, sir, mukhang mahirap i-maintain ung rubber parts ng imagine... sana may way na maprotect ung part na un like apply armor all or something para lang d maging madikit. parang nalulusaw kasi cya...
gud pm, PSB owners. question lang sana regarding the imagine series ng PSB. ano kaya cause ng rubber(ung sa port to the base of the speaker na nasa likod) naging madikit or parang natutunaw? how to dyou prevent this? maraming salamat! :)
I think thats just wax or oil that they used to protect the rubber from getting cracked sa conditions while being transported. Akala ko din at first natutunaw siya pero after cleaning it up, ayun pogi ulit. Pero kelangan tlaga maingat maglinis lalo na kung OCD ka you have the chance to damage the rubber talaga.

I'll check my Imagine B speakers mamaya brader.
pagpinunasan mo naman mas nagiging messy kasi dumidikit ung pampunas. if you get the chance to go to watt hifi, please ask mr. rex to see the imagine b there. d ko kasi talaga ma explain ng maayos. nagtataka din cya why that happened...
right out of the box yata the rubber if flat black(normal rubber texture na bit rough and not shiny and smooth), gusto ko lang sana cya ma-maintain na ganun...
hello, mr. melbourne, please let me know kung ok ba yung rubber part ng Imagine B nyo.
Thank you very much for you response, sir armymanhaha and sir melbourne
I'll post update mamayang gabi brader appamus. Nasa office pa kasi ako.
owned imagine B for 11 months. wiping it with pang-dusting and microfiber every Sunday. used to hold it via bass port at the back pero did not notice any stickiness (or malagkit).
However, the rubber nipple of my image 5 (center of the woofer) parang malagkit maski nung bago pa sya. yung isa ok, yung isa malagkit. touching it after 3 months hoping it has harden still malagkit.
Calling local Dsitributor and Authorized dealers, kindly shed light. :)
gud pm, PSB owners. question lang sana regarding the imagine series ng PSB. ano kaya cause ng rubber(ung sa port to the base of the speaker na nasa likod) naging madikit or parang natutunaw? how to dyou prevent this? maraming salamat! :)
Sonic character ng imagine master is warm and crisp. Synchrony, bigger sounding while being very transparent.
Thanks for the information master Gerard. Warm and Crisp. The way I like my speaker to sound.
Checked my Imagine B last night and no indications na dumidikit o natutunaw ang rubber (at the back) from the port to the base of the speakers.
Thank you, sir melbourne :)
This is my first post on this thread, I regularly read this thread because I own a psb speaker too and enjoying it that much. I got a little anxious by the previous post re oily rubber port of psb speakers. I checked my speaker immediately pero wala namang oily, nothing of that sort. I remember the very first day, the port was a beauty to watch, the rubber was very soft and shiny black, its like -- it’s a crime to touch them. My speakers are now 11month old and I regularly clean them, yon nga lang – hindi ko na ginagalaw yong likod, baka madamage ko pa. Also, my room is hot, really hot lalo na pag wala ako, malamig lang sya pag nandiyan na ako.Sir, what player are you using to play music via your PC? I use foobar kasi and I have a remote on both my android phone and my ipad. When I start up my PC, I dont even have to turn the monitor on and I just use the remote to select the songs I wanted to play. The nice thing about the last update I got for foobar controller was the ability to turn off my PC. Its a cheap option, very practical and effective ;)
Im about to buy a music streamer and a sub. Right now, my source is desktop computer (with asus essence stx) connected to the Rega dac via spdif. No problem with the sound, sound is just awesome to my ears. Kaya lang I need a source other than a computer. Im thinking of olive 03, curious about the Marantz 7004 and the NAD 446. Can you pls. suggest a good music/network streamer that
1) that can sound better than a computer with a good sound card
2) is readily available here. Kindly give the address of the store na nandoon yong item of interest. Im from the province and….
3) Within the price range of those streamers Ive mentioned
As for the sub, Im leaning towards the PSB or Rel 328. Will be buying these things anytime before 2014. Cant audition these things (physical limitations). If I go to Manila, dapat for for pick up na lang.
Thank you psb experts, and thank you PDVD for giving me this avenue.
Got curious too on the oily port thing. My t6 looks fine, no signs of moisture while my alpha b1's port may be oil-resistant because its made of smooth plastic. Just glad my speakers doesnt have those symptoms.
@jcfernandez
I know for a fact naka Synchrony ka din. Ako nag recommend nyan sayo eh hahaha! :D
Im using a single SVS SB12NSD and planning to get a second one after the Holiday craze. I'm not going to recommend you to go SVS only for the sole reason na magiging magkapareho na tayo ng setup kung pati sub recommendation ko eh susundin mo haha (Pareho din tayo ng integrated amp if i remember correctly). This sealed sub is fast enough to go with the quickness of the Synchrony series, and elevating the PRAT-iness of the setup by a good factor (depends on placement and setup).
I think you have great choices from PSB subs and REL although malamang mas maraming magrerecommend ng REL dito because PSB is not really known for their subs albeit they make awesome subs too. REL prices are kind of competitive na din sa marketplace. Please do consider that somewhere along the way you have to have a second sub. The phase issues of only having one sub severely limits ambience retrieval compared to 2x subs. Hindi naman sa nangkukulam but just saying that you will be missing something kung 1 sub lang kunin mo :)
It has the best integration I ever heard. It will make you think that extra bass were actually coming from your speakers.
Panalo yun Master Mel, ngayon lang kasi nagkaroon ng distributor REL dito sa pilipinas that stock a lot of items. Kaya thank you FM Apolinario for bringing this brand to our shores ;)
Although di sya feauture rich like foobar controller in android na may pc shutdown option. What I do so that foobar is loaded when I start the PC is I put a shortcut under the startup folder in Windows. this way, I dont need to turn my monitor on anymore just to start foobar. Then using the foobar remote, I can browse all the files I have and play them on demand. I dont even need an external wifi dongle because a laptop's wifi is sufficient enough to do the job. What I like too in using foobar vs a regular player is the flexibility to tune the sound in accordance to your preference via its built-in equalizer.
Talaga???Thanks sa info. got to try that. sa ngayon , im using foobar. Ano yon? yong foobar app ng ipad?? ma- try ko nga. thanks very much

REL
T5 - 29,000
T7 - 48,700
R328 - 65,000
R528 - 85,000
Alam mo naman master may super discount pa tayo kina Rex ;)
T5 at r328 idol. T5 pa lang impressive na. Mas maliit pa sya sa psb hd8. Pero for a flexible sub, hd8 pa din. Kakaiba spl power nito e.
Brader, alin dyan nadinig mo?

How is it sa music? More on musical sub hinahanap ko... he he heREL na yan idol. I cant think of a better sub for music than REL. Yung bookshelf mo magtutunog floorstander dahil dito.
REL na yan idol. I cant think of a better sub for music than REL. Yung bookshelf mo magtutunog floorstander dahil dito.
Ok kaya Dual T5 sa PSB B6 for Audio?Kahit single lang idol swak yan. I auditioned the t5 with bass light bookshelves like the epos epic2 and sonus faber minuetto and they immediately compensated the lack of kick from these speakers. For bookshelves with decent bass like the rega rs1, rel actually made the image wider making it sound bigger overall.
That should be a match sir. Those who tried that setup are Courage and Pau_d_mann, the serial chickboys of pdvd. ;)
hmmm.... after hearing the B6 nung Hifi show, Im now contemplating on getting one for my ht.
Current considerations are:
B6/B5 + C5 + B4 (surrounds)
Although timbre matched, if I go the B6 + c5 + b4 route, im thinking since iba iba sila ng driver size, maybe ndi maganda ung transition of sound from left to right, front to back. Of course, crossover points will be adjusted accordingly, and hefty 12 in sub will be used as well.
Floor standers wont be necessary naman, the room is about 10 square meters.
Sa me ganung setup, ok naman ba sia?
AVR used is a Denon 2113.
Thanks :)
Sir ask ko lang po opinion nyo, ok po ba ang ganitong set-up sa 12sqm n room (no treatment):I suggest sir to go for the Imagine T instead of the Synchrony if you plan to use it for HT too. Para timbre matched.
Syncrony one B
Imagine C
MA BXFX
Rel T9
Denon X2000
80% music, 20% HT. TIA!
Konti lang diff ng B6 sa B5, so i suggest you go with B6 for fronts..
This is my current setup now though sa HT since i moved the T6 sa Audio...
B6+C5+B4/B5+12 Inch sub = Panalo he he he
Nangkulam ka na naman brader Jason.
@ meat_eater
Go with the B6 brader.
Mukhang dun nga.
Now im thinking, whats the better bang for buck for HT, is it going with the PSB image or the DALI Zensors. Hmmmm...
Room is small naman, about 14 ft x 10 ft.
PSB... I use PSb for both music and ht application..
T6 for music and B6 for ht.. pwede ko rin pag palitin.. i just need a musical sub if im going to use B6 for music.. since walang budget for new sub.. t6 for music, b6 for HT.. maganda pa din in the end he he he
Bili ka na ng REL T5 brader.
;D Guess who Auditioned the Rel T5 + B6 combo earlier? ;D
Ayos siya. Only comparison I can make is with the... Wharf SW150 which I owned and the PSB SubSeries125 which I auditioned some time early this year nga lang.
:) I remember to feel the bass I need to set that sub into 95% volume/level.
Music tracks played(from Orig CDs except for the DeadMau5):
Some Chords - DeadMau5 (from iPod connected via 3.5mm jack and into RCA/Aux)
Change the World - Eric Clapton
On My Way Home - Enya
No Excuses - Alice in Chains
This Love - Pantera
Settings were : HI / Low Level 11o'clock, Crossover... di ko maalala hehe.
I prefer "malagkit" na tunog and mabigat. Parang yun ang description na appropriate based on what my nOob ears heard and what my chest felt. I think this will also be good with Movies.
Aesthetics, maganda siya sa personal. Sexy, petite di mahirap i-Position. :)
^ wala pa nagpapautang sir eh. ;D

Good review brader. Nag practice ka na mangkulam hehehe.
i need your opinion guys. Both speakers seem to be priced similarly. They'll be used for movies and music.
Alpha T1 or Image B6? (I have stands already)
I guess from the total cone area and displacement, the alpha t1 has the edge in bass in this department but dont discount the b6 because it has plenty of bass for a bookshelf. the advantage of the image series vs the alpha is how extended the highs can go. my friend who has golden ears mentioned it has a more airy feel and ambience is wider. sibalance is also smoother in the image series.

Nakaka turn on ang explanation ni Gerard.. Kaya madaming chicks na na bibiktima yan eh...wahahahahaHappy New Year! Wag masyadong magpaputok idol,
Thanks for the response. Leaning towards the B6. It also seems to be more future proof.kayo pala yan sir Niko. Wag po kayo maniniwala dun kay Jason. PSB po yan, Pabling 'saka Babaero! ;)

Tested this on my tube amp and nad cdp, hooked to the 4 ohm tap... I like the sound very much... This thing sounds teally good ;D
One happy psb owner here :)
Bang for buck nga
Nice gears brader.
Thanks sir... The b6 sounds really good sa stereo....

This is what I use to drive the psb for stereo and ht purposes. :)
Hmm. I am thinking of a next set(up) using an Alpha B1 with some cheap Dareds...
me wonders...
Nice... Congrats brader... Ganda tumunog ng PSB noh..
Bang for buck bro!!
Dumadami pala ang psb+rel users, on my count it's :
Courage
jns888
Jcfernandez
I'm using PSB T6 driven by Marantz PM7003 Integ amp,.....so far so good, linis tumunog ;)
Ganda ng combination talaga brader... The Rel made my T6 more bigger.. Bigger Soundstage, improved the midrange, lumabas ang details.. simply amazing...
Bili na kasi brader... i swear talagang di mawawala ang ngiti mo pag narinig mong kumanta ang dalawa(PSb at Rel) he he he
I am just wonderin' kung ano ang tunog ng imagine B paired with REL subs.
Brader wag ka mag alala, tatanggapin ka nya ulit he he he...
I've heard the rel with Imagine T2 which is di naman nalalayo sa Imagine B. one word AWESOME!!!!!! then followed by 3 words... MUST BUY ONE... he he he
With your imagine B, i would say T5, T7 or T9 will do the Job but then again it depends on how large is your room.. Pero you can always go to a higher level(R Serie) because there's no such thing as TOO MUCH in this crazy hobby of ours..
Among the REL sub, anong maganda para sa Imagine B?For me, the imagine b has a pretty large soundstage na, so the entry level t5 may not work, I'd suggest maybe a T9 or R328.
^ So sa B6 ok na T5 ano? :)
:)I think it will. i tried the T5 on a bass heavy bookshelf like a Rega RS1 and it expanded the sound better and added more punch in the low end.
...
... I prefer the speaker (B6) running full range as it is for pure music, albeit of course within the speakers limits, and the room I have is moderately treated (Absorbers, diffusers, bass traps, carpet) and it never ceases to put a smile on my face.
Cheers ;)
^ that's what Im thinking. nakukulam lang atah talaga ako, pero mukhang ok na talaga sakin B6 lang. :)

Pag 2 channel music lang, try setting your speakers to Large...
Panalo talaga yan sir.. That is my mains too driven by C275BEE... Pero warning dont audition the Imagine T2... I made that mistake ha ha ha...Na curious ako ah...halos double the price sir sa T2
Yup, actually more than double... Kaya dont audition it.. He he he
Panalo naman pag pinatugtug na lalo na pag sinabayan ng top of the line sub.
Yup, actually more than double... Kaya dont audition it.. He he heWhat i did is pinakinggan ko na lang yung T2 movie ni Arnold sa T6 ko hehehe. ayos ang sound
Yan nga pag kakamali ko eh.. Pinakinggan ko with the sub... Hayyzzz.... ayaw ko ng gumastos wahhhhhh
Pakinggan mo brader with dual sub. Mas maganda at mas balance ang result.
Yes sir.
Bigyan muna natin ng time brader.
Tumigil ka... walamng pambili nun.. he he he...
T2 ang matagal ng pangarap for Audio... hayyzzzzz...
I heard the T2 paired sa pre/power combo ng nad.
Ganda! kuha na sir.... hehe
Ligawan mo yung Display unit na Synchrony Two ni sir Rex hehe. Nung huli kong dalaw dun linigawan ko kaso basted agad ako :|
NagAudition(and gotten) kanina ako ng CD Player sa Watts, ayos ang Synchrony B sa Voices VII and Lorde.
Pagdating sa mga Pantera and Living Sacrifice, me and yung kasama ko agreed na naging "Sweet" ang tunog. :)
Well sa bahay naman napansin ko nagiging Sweet ang tunog ng mga Metal music ko e.g. Psycroptic, Dying Fetus with the 326BEE + Image B6.
The setup sa Watts is 375BEE + C516BEE and the Synchrony's. :)
May DAC pa atah di ko sure.
Detailed siya mas malinaw pero for me parang di naman malayo sa Image B6 or wala lang akong pera na pambili hehe. :-X
Dapat pinakinggan mo din Imagine T2
Ahh :) bukas.
What psb b/s would you recommend for a 15w tube amp?Try to audition first sir if you will like the pairing with tubes. For me, Bookshelves with ribbon tweeters are a match with tubes, like Aurum Cantus V2M, LSA 1 Statement, MA GX50 etc.
Tapos sabihin mo kay Rex, kabit nya REL T9 Sub with Imagine T2 kung andun pa yung REL T9 he he he

I tried bi-amping using my CA and NAD amps on my T6 but I didn't find any significant changes in the sound.
;D
dito ko nalang itanong.. sulit pa ba iBi-Wire ang B6 ko with the 326BEE amp?
Banana plugged na naman siya etc.
TIA.
You can try if you have the extra wire... But i doubt there will be any significant change, if meron man, minimal. You can try to instead, just replace the bridges with a good gauged wire, again, with minimal improvements, however small, is still a possible improvement.
Cheers :)
Hi :)
I just tried replacing the bridges, and it altered the sound based on what I hear.
Mas naemphasize e.g. mga reverb sa recording song like Paglisan (CD Mix, Hand Painted Sky CD track 14) and Angel (320 KBPS, Sarah Mchlaclan).
Mas gumanda movies imho lalo na mga ambient/surrounding sound with the dialogs. (stereo lang)
I tried bi-amping using my CA and NAD amps on my T6 but I didn't find any significant changes in the sound.i did this too....w/ marantz and onkyo,(direct mode) no improvements but the speaker position. :D
Pogi talaga. Pakita mo aluminum baffles sir jason ;)
Nu nga pala nangyari sa T6 mo sir?
Simply amazing speaker.. :)Ganda idol!

He he he... FS pa ba yung Rega and stuff for 1.5k?
AMPFFFF IKAW NAGBENTA SA AKIN NG SPEAKER CABLES NA TO EH!!!!! grrrrrr...
Van Del Hul Cs122 gamit ko sa One B ko. You might wanna try it too :) Although honestly non-cable believer ako.
ahem..bookmarking and back-reading this thread :)
initial questions:
1. for those using Image B6+C5 combo, what crossover settings did you use? all 80?
2. how many hours kaya ang break-in nito?
3. did you bi-wire?
^thanks! will try out 60hz for center.
another question, do you guys put the grill on or not? i find the PSBs nicer to look at without the grill. May benefit ba if kept on?
Kung walang malikot na bata or anybody that would play with it, ok lang na walang grill... The tweeter is so sensitive, even with the softest brush ma diding yan... so be careful with the tweeter....
I'm also a non cable believer, and i'm afraid if i spend money on new cables baka pag sisihan ko pag wala ako ma notice na difference...Try mo idol instead of speaker wire, interconnects. Para sa akin may difference sa ICs. The worst i have tried are cambridge audio ICs. Magaspang tunog vs el cheapo ICs. Certain VDH ICs naman have more constraint on the lower end. Kaya nga minsan the more expensive it is, it doesn't mean it's better.
To be honest when i replaced my old cable which was a 14 gauge generic cable na nabibili lang dyan sa tabi tabi, and the cable was like12 years old already.. nag kukulay green na nga yung copper sa loob, with my cable right now which came from Louie, a 10 gauge cable na mas maganda ang quality kesa sa old cable ko.. wala naman akong na notice na improvement nor difference on SQ he he he
Ok din ba for movies yung PSB Image B5? :) Naisip ko kasi for 2.1 muna pwede ko recommend sa friend ko..heheIt is a good starting point sir, once he upgrades to a bigger bookshelf or floorstander he can move those B5s for his surround.

Brader may deprnsya ata talaga tenga ko... I tried comparing the ic i bought sa mcs vs the red and white ic's na free sa mga cd or dvd player..
Siguro kelangan nakakalong si maui para may ma notice ako..

Yeah.. tha's the plan :) I'm gonna have to ask him what he prefers.. But this is better than any budget FS right? Let's say the Warfes or PSB Aplha?
Add a little and get the B6 na.. Konti na lang difference eh... Then later on your friend can get the B5 or Alpha B1 for surrounds, unless ang plano ng Friend mo eh mag FS..
Ok sir... I will suggest the B6.. actually medyo limited kasi talaga budget nya..I will inquire narin for the Cash Price of both B5 and B6.. :)
I think there's a 3k Difference....
Pwede ko siguro sya maconvince.. BTW, will the PSB Image be match with the Yamaha 765? Or mas ok yung Onkyo 607? Pinagkasya ko lang kasi yung 40k nya na budget for 2.1 set-up including the receiver and sub :)
It will.. i'm using a Yamaha receiver for my PSB... I never heard PSB sound bad to any receiver or amp.... THats why i love it..
That's good to hear sir.. Pinagpipilian nalang namin is PSB Image B6 or Q Acoustics :) thanks for all your inputs sir!
Good luck on your speaker hunt... Your options are both good. You wouldn't go wrong if you choose any of the two... It's now all up to you on which sounds best for you....

Planning to change my HT speaker would this pair nicely with onkyo 809? Thankspwede sir.
Mga idol,That would work. The image series is very easy to power. I even used to try an entry level pioneer 521 into my T6 and it was driven very well. For subs, what will be your budget?
newbie here. Planning to buy my 1st setup. B6 talaga habol ko. Wondering what AV reciever ang magandang match. Looking at yamaha rx-v375. Yan lang kaya bidget e.
To follow ung center at rear.
Ok ba un?
anu murang pde na sub?
thanks in advance
@olrac, which model of PSB? I think there are some here who pair PSBs with Onkyo.
Are there any PSB owners who pair their speakers with a Marantz or Harman Kardon receiver?HK 3390 = warm
@olrac, you may want to check this other thread out (on receiver-speaker matching) --

Ganda naman! Galing magpicture. ;D
Sarap din i pictorial ng gears mo brader he he he
Actually gusto ko nga kaso di ako marunong. ;D
Next na bisita ko dyan.. Dala ako camera gears..
Sa mga PSB Image series owners, what brand of stereo amp did you pair it with (preferably the integrated type)? Talaga bang NAD ang bagay? :)
Those are the brands I keep coming across as well, na merong models within my budget. Sana I can home audition para mas okay.
I believe Rex has Rotel. When I tried the older ra06se with the image the pairing wasn't impressive. The sound got thinner. Marantz and psb will be a better match.
Right now my shortlist is looking like - NAD 326BEE, Marantz PM5004 and Rega Brio R (arranged from lowest to highest price :) )
To be paired with the B6, and with a potential acquisition of a Rega RP3 in a year or two.

T6 paired to Marantz PM7003.....what i say is Boom panes!!! :)Nice set sir! Congrats!
Help naman mga bro. Noob here. That combination will work sir :)
Buying a image b6 next week. Thinking of matching it with denon x500. Match ba cya? If not. Baka yamaha rx 375 nalang.
Please advice mga guru
thanks
Got my Imagine T and Imagine C from Watt Hifi lastnight. Thanks to Rex for a sweet deal. However, will it be soon before the Imagine T is faced out? It has been out in the marker for 5 years. Hmmmmm...

I noticed the port of the Imagine C to be sticky. If you back read, you will see other reports of the same problem. Parang natutunaw na malagkit. But my T's do not have this problem. Reported to Rex and promised he will replace this Tuesday. Buti nalang may support from Watts Hifi.
Ive seen psb ports to be sticky, yung rubber dun sa ports even with synchrony.... Kahit yung display sa watts hi fi.. Pag high humidity yan daw ang effect with that kind of rubber...
may effect ba sa SQ? ???
No effect on SQ.. I dont see any reason why it should affect the SQ of the speakers
Wala naman impact sa sound pero syempre i want my moneys worth. Meron naman units like my Imagine Ts na hindi malagkit so why not get another unit. The box also looked re-sealed. Baka binalik nato ng ibang buyers.
I agree with you, and if i'm in your case i would ask for replacement as well, but what i'm saying is may possibility na mangyari ang ganyan sa speakers pag nagtagal due to humidity. If your room is humid then later on it will happen, but again no worries as it doesnt affect SQ..
I have PSB synchrony and Image Speakers with same rubber material so far ok pa naman the Image is been with me for 2 years. I saw a synchrony and same image speakers with sticky rubber

I don't know if it is just me but I think this problem is random or newer stocks do not have this problem. Mukhang re-sealed yung center ko eh. Baka may iba nag balik. Sana the new center Rex will give to me tomorrow doesn't have this annoying sticky port.
The demo units of the Imagine speakers I auditioned also had sticky rubber ports, may mga nakadikit pa na mga fibers (I'm assuming from cloth rags).
The rubber on my two-year old Imagine speakers is not sticky (knock on wood), maybe because the room they are placed in is not humid at all.

A humid and hot room will make those rubber sticky.. lalo na yung room na malamig na malamig pag may AC tapos pag patay mo ng AC magiging Humid...
good morning sirs.
anong amp ang bagay or anong gamit mo na amp para sa synchrony one BS or FS mo? :D

So I was browsing around and them came across a review for the the Imagine X bookshelf
http://www.cnet.com/news/a-sweet-sounding-budget-priced-audiophile-stereo-system/
Kelan kaya dating nito sa Pinas?

I got the same problem also.bagong bili ko din kay Rex yung center. Its rubber is so sticky parang na expose masyado sa init. sa bookshelf wala naman prob.
I hope they've informed the principal on this issue already since its not an isolated case anymore.
(Not unless, there's something wrong with storage handling of our local distro) :)

hey Lance, i took your advice and had my dealer friend make sure the ports weren't sticky..
the ports weren't sticky but man, one of the speakers has a hairline scratch. UGH.
Bro basta hindi ka happy, demand for a replacement. Others are really OC like me. I want my new stuff perfect.
I am pretty sure they gave you the same center speaker they gave me. The distributor wants to dispose of that center to unsuspecting customers. Demand for a replacement right away. If you prolong it, they might not honor an exchange.
Hmm, I decided to inspect my now 2-year old Imagine speakers again more closely.
And I discovered that the rubber ports have turned very sticky on the following:
Imagine C center
Imagine B bookshelf used as rear surrounds, both left and right
:'( :'( :'(
All three ports on each of the T2 speakers are alright, for now. :)
When I got the speakers in 2012, I made it a point to check the rubber ports, because I remember noticing the sticky rubber on the demo units I got to audition.
The room is not humid and is generally always cool even with the aircon off so I don't have an idea what caused the rubber to go sticky....
It looks like, at least for this line, these Canadian speakers have to "tropicalized." :P
Yung Imagine X series ba will replace the Image series? halos parehas kasi ng specs ang Imagine X2T sa Image T6 at Imagine X1T sa Image T5.The Image series seems to still be active even when the Imagine X has been launched for quite some time already. I just don't get the product positioning that PSB is doing right now, coz with this new Imagine T3, it overlaps with the Synchrony series. I guess Paul Barton would just want us to have more choices on his speaker lineup.

just want to update this thread.
i just met sir rex of watt hi fi kanina sa makati cinema square looking for a separate music setup, muntik ko pa di makita yung shop nasa tabi lang pala ng dunkin donuts, layo pa naman quezon city to makati. meron din pala sila dalawa pang shop sa ground floor Watts Hi Fi din.
i personaly tested yung bagong dating na PSB imagine XB, yun daw pumalit sa PSB image B6. this was connected to NAD 516 cdp and NAD 326 bee integrated amp. my observation: maganda yung highs and mids, malambing at nakakarelax tumunog, parang ayaw ko na nga umuwi. baka mapuyat ako araw araw pag eto lagi ang kasama ko kasi ang sarap ng tunog. same size cya ng PSB image B5 pero mas maganda sound kasi nasa imagine series cya, angat ng isang level. tested also PSB imagine b speakers, mas maganda ang mids pero at the price of 40k plus, bang for the buck ang imagine xb.
then, pinakabitan ko ng subwoofer yung PSB sub series 200, lalong gumanda ang lows. tight and accurate and bass, perfect combo for music setup. plan ko pa sana itry yung Rel T5 pero since gumagabi na, di ko na natry.
ok kausap si sir rex, very accomodating at mabait na tao. para nga kami nasa seminar at cya yung professor, magaling magdiscuss sa mga customers sa shop at kabisado mga audio gears nya. audition and let your ears decide. dito pala puwede gawin yun kasi puwede ka magpalit palit ng gears to try different combinations. nakita ko rin yung synchrony speakers nya worth 100k plus and also tested Martin Logan electrostatic speakers worth 300k pala yun (though i cant afford to buy that one, hehe nacurious lang kung ano ang sound)
in the end, nakabili din naman ako, isang pirasong cd.. hehe. though i'll be back..soon.

sir, napansin ko lang, you re an avid fan of Rel T5 but why did you buy PSB 300 instead? yun bang reflective surfaces sa listening environment mo ang reason why you choose PSB300?I have both sir. The Subseries 300 is connected to my 5.2 HT, while the REL T5 is in my 2.1 Condo Setup. ;)
or you have both Rel T5 and PSB300?

Going full Synhcrony sa HT bro.. though same speakers will be used for Audio.. Wala lang akong makitang Synchrony Two B dito, di daw nilabas dito sa pinas.. Ayaw ko naman mag Synchrony S for surround kasi bukod sa mahal, sayang yung speakers kasi for surrounds lang eh kasing presyo ba naman ng One B
Ganda nian boss!
Congrats!!
Baka mag out ka ng image b4 if meron ka, pm mo sakin. Hehehe
Enjoy sir! :)
Nako, anlaki. Hehehe....
Pero ganda din nun. Hehehehe

i paired my rega brio-r with a psb image t5 and I bet that will sound good as well. Also you won't regret getting a rega brio-r.another great combo, brio-r & Image T5. ;D

Congrats Sir Courage!
Eto yung Top of the line ng PSB right?
I couldn't find it directly sa PSB website pero nasearch ko looks like a hidden link. :)
Three questions -
1. Would PSB speakers sound good with Marantz receivers?
2. Also, taking into account that the Marantz is more musical than say, an Onkyo or a Yamaha, if the intention is to put up a separate audio set up anyway, would it be better to get a more HT-geared receiver (like the aforementioned Onkyo and Yamaha)?
3. Would the PSB speakers sound good with either the Onkyo or Yamaha?
I have a Yamaha RX-A2000 and i Paired it with PSB B6 and T6. Sounded really good for both Movies and Music. This is my combination until i upgraded my Speakers to PSB SynchronyOh, I thought you had a Marantz amp din?

correct me if im wrong, but i think you are the winning bidder of the X2T...hehe. youre such a lucky guy. :)
several pdvd members here are awaiting your review of the X2T, ok ba ang sound?

sir
I have a yamaha and a marantz amp and an image b6. yun b6 bagay sa yamaha ko. pag sa marantz, a bit too warm for my taste. pero ok pa rin naman
Ano po minimum room size pag PSB Tower speakers like PSB Image T6 or PSB Imagine X2T?
Not sure if I'll upgrade to Towers in the future or maintain ko lang BS speakers.
I think vintage SS amps work, but if it's a tube amp, I am not a fan of the pairing.
Looking into a dynaco st-70 and psb combination for tube set-up. If solid state then looking for a sansui amplifier to pair it with.
Its a PSB image T5 amp that i'm planning to pair with. I would want to maximize the potential of the speaker instead of just getting a new one.optimized result:
Specs you mentioned are exactly what i'm looking at. I'm still creating a list of what i want to listen to. So far I have the following so far:
1. Dynaco ST-70 series II with LPA
2. Sansui AU-D707F Extra Integrated amplifier
Mcintosh SS combo din possible but I think I need a better speaker for that one.
How about rock like led zep, eric clapton or even metallica?
Just tube roll to your preferences, that's the beauty of tube amps. :)
Nice. Thanks for all the replies. Will prioritize tube amps muna
Care to elaborate why you're not a fan of the pairing if tube amp? What I like about PSB is their lively warm character and it has a lot of dynamics. I only have heard a KT88 tube amp(Cayin with stock tubes) paired with an Image & Synchrony. It loses a lot of that liveliness and dynamics that I like paired with that amp. I am used to PSB being forward sounding, with a tube amp, it tries to lay back a bit changing how the image should be projected. I am only guessing that with an EL34 amp, which usually has less current, it might change it even more.
but how i wish i can afford that with the price of $3,750. hehe. siguro pagdating d2 sa pinas, abutin pa yan ng 180k pesos. :)
The $3750 price of the T3 is actually per PIECE! So $7500 for a pair. Definitely more than 180k pesos pag dating dito. Maybe around 360-380k is my guess.
The T3 is definitely PSB's new flagship. Positioned higher pa than the old Synchrony One.
Probably the reason why the Synchrony line was culled. However, I think that the engineers in the PSB facility are cooking something, most likely a new top of the line model that would replace the old Synchrony...
Im sure it gonna sound good... and Im sure I wont be able to afford it. hehehehehhe
Considering the price of the T3 if Mr. Barton will introduce an even higher end speaker it will probably be statement class already and compete with the likes of Wilson and Vandersteen.
Upgraded my PSB Alpha B1 to imagine XB and all I can say is that its really an amazing experience. Good bass, good detail and the mids are great.
The B1 is already a great budget speaker but if you really want to open up the sound this is really a recommended upgrade.
I was choosing between B&W 685 S2 and this one and this one is the clear winner for me.
My PSB X2T really matches great with my NAD integrated amplifier.
good morning.
what nad amp are you matching it with? pa share naman ng listening impression. tia. ;D
I'm using NAD 326BEE. Comparing it with my B&W 685 S2 bookshelf, the mids are better. Also I'm kind of longing for some bass which the bookshelf can't give.
I can now do away with my subs but of course it's much better with the subs
Sir.. try to pair your Setup with Rel Sub T or R

hey guys alam nyo ba SRP ng imagine x tower?
Kaya naman sir. I think among 50-watters, the 326 provides good value for money. In comparison to the rega brio-r's 50 wpc, ang hina nung rega. Almost like you are using a flea SET amp because it sounds anemic. The 326 is brash and provides good bass weight which makes it sound more powerful. To compare the 326 against the 356, almost inaudible ang difference using the X2T. That additional power I think can be appreciated when you use the Imagine B/T up.
hey guys alam nyo ba SRP ng imagine x tower?
Uyy brader mukang may planong mag palit ah.. he he he sabihan mo ako pag sawa ka na sa One B mo he he he
03-25-15: Audiotroy
We just got our demo pair of T3 in to the shop and I have to agree with the other posters, for the money they are amazing speakers,
We compared the T3 to the Syn One we just took a pair back in trade and the difference is huge.
The Mc eq will make a small difference in making an older bad 80's recording any difference, as the recording technology and mastering for many recordings had too much compression
3-31-15: Audiotroy
Update on our demo pair which are really starting to sing.
The shops owner has been breaking the speakers in every day since they first came in and boy have they gotten even better.
We are both blown away the T3 is a completely different animal from any past PSB. These are world class speakers which have more in common with $10k and above priced speakers.
The clarity in the treble is world class so is the bass. Macro dynamics are also exceptional.
We are just amazed at how good these new speakers really are, and we have a great $10k system set up with the new $2,500 Parasound Halo integrated amp/dac.
Borrowed a Sansui AU-D707F Extra and paired it with a PSB imagine XB. I was surprised na bagay siya. I tried it with a Marantz 2245 but the Sansui surprisingly beat the Marantz in terms of pairing with PSB. Maybe a big factor is because Sansui is 95W compared to Marantz's 45W rating.
So far I like what i'm hearing with this pairing.

But I do agree, it is a subjective taste. It's still PSB + SS amp for me. Not just any SS Amp, Rotel is a bad pairing in my opinion. I like warm and fat sounding SS amps paired with it like NAD, Musical Fidelity and Marantz.
No sir, it should be Polk RTI A6 as center for the RTIA9 so they have timbre matching, same sound signature and same level of brightness.
Image C5 is not on the bright side, so not matched for me.
My PSB X2T and my NAD 275/165 combo is a match made in heaven!

di mo ba namiss sir? :)
Hi guys.. for a small room around 10 to 12sqm
Before I make a final decision, will you recommend going for a BS than a FS?
I'm originally leaning towards the X2T kaya lang baka overkill? I have some acoustic panels not sure how much difference it will make
Kaya lang I don't think I have space for a dual sub e.. I live in a condo lang din kasi.. but will move out din to a bigger place
Ok sabagay..then when I move to a bigger place I can just buy the X2T then use the XB as surrounds..hehehe talagang eversince kasi gusto ko lang magFS kaya parang nakamind set ako dun..
Svs sir no? I have dsw 500 right now..ok na ba yun?
So far for me, SVS is the best sub available here. I've tried diff brands and even owned one. Noon, ayaw ko pa SVS because its expensive so nag try ako ng diff brand. Hanggang sa nakaipon ako and finally nakabili ng SVS which is only last year, then saka ako nag sisi na sana pala dati pa lang nag SVS na ako... Iba talaga SVS sir..
Ahh ok, so for me sir skip ko na magRega noh? ;D
SVS na kagad?
(no offense sa Rega Fans here, tanong lang po)
Rega SUB?
REL pala, haha. Nalilito ako sa dalawang brand. :)
Well i have both SVS and the REL sub, all i can say is SVS won the movies department(Ported ones, PB12NSD to be exatc) and the REL won the Music Department. I tried to use the SVS(PB12NSD) sa music and didnt like it. I tried to use my REL sa Movies and maganda naman, di nya lang talaga kaya ang yanig factor ng PB12NSD. I guess if i compare the REL to let say SB12NSD then it's a different story, though never tried one kasi i dont have the SB model of SVS.
So if purely movies, panalo talaga ang SVS lalo na ang ported subs nila. DUAL agad kung kaya.
^ That should work well. The X2T is similar to my T6, both can easily be powered by the AVR.
kaya ba ang X2T/T6 ng 326BEE amp?
MaAudition nga din ito kesa magAdd ng Sub and magSabre BookShelf stand pa for my B6. :)
You think 326BEE+T6/X2T without a sub is ok na sa Music? Thanks.
sir,as to NAD 326 bee + x2T setup, i have asked that question to sir Neilc. medyo hirap si NAD 326 pero kaya naman, that's according to fellow pdvd member sir Neilc.
that's why he bought the separates of sir Courage (and i bought sir Neilc's NAD 326) hehe.

Also, I just got a good deal from Courage that's why I sold my 326 hehe.
By the way, will be selling my X2T soon.
any difference if its bi-wired? or not needed?
thanks
me i have not tried bi-wiring <-- i was discouraged by Otep in Watts.actually bi-amping makes a difference, but not necessarily better. bi-wiring wala talaga :p
Changing the Interconnects with the same material as my speaker wire made a difference instead.
^ based on what I hear...
Does it really make a difference? I mean the speaker wires.. because Im only using ordinary speaker wires.. I read here before na you can't really hear the difference?although not sure maybe technology has changed? Just wanna know para isama ko sa budget for future upgrade hehehe
hello, for onkyo receiver which has no small or large settings for the speakers, should i put my fronts at 40Khz? or full?
thanks
40 Khz is rather high, did you mean hz?
40 hz on the other hand is rather low, and with endtry to mid level AVRS, assuming you have floor standers, the current delivery might not be enough. If you have a sub, I suggest 80-100 hz, then cross your sub to do 80-120 hz down...
oww sorry I meant 40 hz, i have an onkyo txnr646 and the psb x2ts
thanks
If you have a subwoofer, try using 80 hz for your fronts, 80 for the center, 100 for the surrounds. Leave the lfe duties for the sub (80-120 hz).ok thank you for your response sir, as i dont have any idea about it at all. will try this.
Try this setting if it suits your taste, if not, feel free to experiment on what suits you best.
Cheers :)
^ time to save up on a QED then heheI actually would recommend Van Den Hul master rather than QED. Mas audible ang change when you compare lets say their entry level C5 vs a more expensive 3T.
Edit: Dali ko pala makulam... :-[
Dami pa naman synchrony sa mga shops. May Synch One pa sa Spectra. Last time I checked, meron Synch Two sa Watts.Spectra in Glorietta?
Spectra in Glorietta?
Hello ulit sa Speaker stand eg. Sabre wood vs metal. May factor ba sya sa sound quality? :) TIA
imagine t3 is too pricey at almost $4,000 dollars...
